I like noise distortion in songs so I dont know what the sounds sound like coming out of the guitar's speaker ! I just hear that noise. It is more rythmic and full of simple notes proper mashed togeather like the symbols of a drum kit. Improperly done it can sound muddy. I guess pedals limit what you can do, like a handycap.

Metal is fucking everywhere nowadays. It's hard to find some decent punk rock players that actually know what they're playing. Whenever I say I play punk rock around people, they assume I'm talking about Green Day or Blink-182. Metal is much more appealing to people now because of whiny mainstream Pop giants who call themselves punk. It really destroys the genre when the most successful "Punk" acts are in reality just pop rock bands that play less chords than other pop rock bands.
