o ffs, you have to be kidding. this is all well and good, but it's missing the end of the first movement? the most amazing part of this symphony and possibly one of the most bone chilling utterances any composer has set forth? I WANT. NOW. the rest of this performance has left a burning desire within me to hear how the ending turned out.

Such a good idea of Dudamel to always double or triple the scoring as prescribed by the composer, the result is amazing, as you can see... and hear... works perfectly also with the Turangalila symphony by Messiaen... also to be found on YouTube, performed at the Royal Albert Hall I believe.... tremendous...

I really abhor this performance. I think this is a beautiful symphony and he is butchering it by trying to evoke the suffering of Shostakovich or the Soviet Gulag system or whatever from some inane Historical Musicology platform of aesthetic rubbish instead of just playing the fucking music. Nice tone, though and especially in the brass.

Absolutely amazing that this is a YOUTH orchestra. They play at an amazingly high level, better than many professional orchestras.

@almendroarb Don't you get it? The entire orchestra has memorized the score. Its part of their training. Watch the other conductors from Venezuela, Diego Matheuz, Christian Vasquez, Manuel Lopez Gomez all conduct from memory.

@RominPhoenix Amigo nunca esperes que ningun Venezolano o latino en general acute como un Inglés o un europeo en general, y tampoco esperes que un Europeo actue igual que un Latinoamericano, porque somos culturas completamente distintas, no somos ni peores ni mejores que otros. Alas, my horizons are yet not broad enough. I speak dutch, english, french, and I can understand a bit of german. Spanish is a mistery though for me. Exept for "vamos a la playa", I can understand that xD

Totalmente de acuerdo! es que la gente sigue creyendo que los exitos nacieron a punta de realazo (billetes) y en realidad es el fruto del esfuerzo, la inteligencia (para lidiar con los políticos) y la constancia... Y es muy bueno oir en entrevistas, que los muchachos siempre ponen al Maestro Abreu como el padre y heroe de El Sistema los demás son circunstanciales... Hay que apoyarlos ahora que están exportando El Sistema independizandose de políticos :)

Das ist jedenfalls mehr Schost. als seinerzeit Solti der Depp verzapft hat. Der hat noch nicht mal den Höhepunkt im 1.Satz richtig gesetzt. Und der 2te Satz war für ihn nur ein Kosakentanz("Stalinportrait?-A­chwas...!")

Was stört dich eigentlich definitiv? Tempi, Aufbau, oder was? Ich habe jedenfalls einiges zusätzlich verstanden, und das, obwohl ich die 10te eigentlich von der Karajan-Aufnahme her wie meine Unterhose kenne.
