  • i'm 11 and i live in The Netherlands, real i love that movie!

  • so is my school drama

  • Cant wait my schools doing it and Im fagin!

  • The boys are ADORABLEEE

  • I was Oliver when my theater group did this. Probably the best play I've been in. That and Little Women.

  • I guess you could say Fagin started his own Hitler Youth

    *Puts on sunglasses*

    YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • @IOTA400 me too except im an orphan, featured soloist (most likely in who will buy) and just like.. a villager? i guess its my first yr at my school nd the younger kifs get lousy parts:-/

  • @FoReVeRcRaZification rod moody[fagan] was only 43/44 here,it's hardly 'an old guy',yea i know he aint 25 but 43 aint old.

  • @FoReVeRcRaZification Ironic that he outlived some of the young cast.

  • the choreography in the film is amazing

  • best musical ever

  • I ALWAYS wanted to do that heel clap jump thing at 1.42..i will do it while singing to work one day

  • be back soon ... ;)

    great video

    for all child

  • Thats got to hurt their bums and give them splinters

  • @tommychaos3 I agree. When I first saw them sliding down the stairs from 1:29-1:38 I said to myself "ouch, that will hurt." (I guess the director for this movie put some soft padding that blended in on the stairs and told them to slide down on that soft padding).

  • @tommychaos3 this being film and having to shoot each scene several times over and over they likely had pads on their behinds.

  • Best track on this movie!

  • no musical will ever come close to this-pure excellent

  • i love jack wild - dodger

  • I am a STAR.

  • Ron Moody made him into a person you liked and felt sorry for. He really did love those strays.

  • @CatpurrRobertaBobbi Yes but Dickens novel draws him as pure evil, inferring his interest in the boys is MORE than in just their pickpocketing skills. Dickens understood well that child prostitution was rife in Victorian London, but couldn't be explicit about such dark issues.

  • @jimdivax Im reading the book at the minute, but ive only just got up to the bit where Dickens introduces Fagin...... I know its silly, but i keep expecting the characters in the book to burst out into song! :L

  • @jimdivax Personally I don't feel he is meant to be interpreted that way at all in the musical. He provides some comic relief to ease the stress induced by Bill Sikes. I think he also works in the musical as part of an interesting dynamic... you have Nancy, the tragic heroine who dies for her selflessness, Sikes, the misogynistic villain, and Fagin who's kind of the halfway point between her innocence and his depravity. Also the musical can't work if we don't like Fagin.

  • @allpossibleworlds In the musical they are toning him down.... it is a musical and aimed towards kids too. The original novel works for a proper film... where oliver is completely miserable, wants to kill himself (according to dickens) and the place is a hell hole.

  • @DLPBurke Yes, a musical is not really an artistic venue that lends itself to such grim realities. I am somewhat ashamed to admit I have not read the novel. I have tried a few times and could not remain invested. I love Dickens' writing style and admire his dedication to tackling disturbing social issues in his works, but before I was halfway through Oliver Twist I felt I was becoming desensitized to all the horrendous injustices piled on top of each other.

  • love this song!!!! one of my alltime favorites

  • as to say: you are at the heart of it all

  • MOST FAVORITE FEMALE ABORTION TWINS @ THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH & THE MOST FAVORITE MALE ABORTION TWIN PAIRS @ THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

  • half of these views are from me :L

  • 0:41 spelling error, it says "him that PAYS the piper" it should be "him that PLAYS the piper"

  • @isyou ...and playing the piper makes sense how? The subtitles got it right.

  • @PinkCarnationProDux then how do the other lyrics make sense? "It's us that calls the tune" makes much more sense if you put plays in there

  • @isyou You've never heard the expression "You have to pay the piper"? It means to face the results of your actions. Why would be be "playing the piper"? He would be playing the pipe.

  • @zanecreations ya I know he sounds weird and awkward

  • @RichardElden ....I really hope that was sarcasm D:

  • @Grannyslittlegirl it was hinted to but never confirmed.x

  • Does Fagin have a soft spot for Oliver? I'm not sure.

  • Imagine they did that every morning before going to rob people..

  • @Hsmgirl97 No, yankee doodle sounds like this :)

  • RIP jack you were brilliant! :)

  • Jack Wild, much love. <3 <3

  • I wonder what Dickens would have made of this... Fagin was supposed to be at least as bad as Sykes for goodness' sake?

  • I'm Oliver in our school musical, and this is one of my favorite songs:) just because of all the dancing!

  • whenever i hear Oliver sing i think he is lip sinking. It just sounds so awkward

  • @zanecreations he is lip sinking a woman sang for him he just tried to mime

  • @Laureldawulf he's that awesome..thats how...

  • @Laureldawulf Staples.

  • @Laureldawulf Carefully

  • @Laureldawulf

is a soft top hat, not a normal one ;)

  • @Laureldawulf we are doing this in drama and I am Dodger and i have to do it. they put in brick at the bottom of the hat

  • it is glued to his head :-)

  • @Laureldawulf

by either a wire , or by doing many many takes they wouldnt glue it to his head cuz that could hurt him

  • @Laureldawulf He can do anything cause hes just got that much skill

  • @Laureldawulf EASY

  • @Laureldawulf EASY IV DONE IT THEN GO DOWN STAIRS

  • i love : )))

  • [BOYS While Fagin sings] We must disappear, We'll be back here, Today... ...Perhaps tomorrow. We'll miss you too It's sad but true That parting is such sweet sorrow. And when we're in the distance You'll hear this Whipered tune... So long, fare thee well Pip! Pip! Cheerio! We'll be back soon
  • this song is very cheerful.

    i like it very much.

  • JOEL 3:3- BOY AS PAYMENT FOR A HARLOT MEANT MORE THAN I FIRST THOUGHT- I KNEW IT MEANT- DEATH- FOR ELIJAH MUST DIE FOR HIS JEZEBEL- I KNEW THAT GOING IN... SO I WILL HAVE SEX WITH JAESON MA AND INTERCEDE FOR THE VICTIMS IN SEX SLAVE INDUSTRY WORLDWIDE...

  • Probably my favorite song from Oliver....it's a shame how Jack Wild's life turned out, he was such a talented kid.

  • We really can't compare the musicals now with those in those days. The quality is different altogether. :)

  • @Lynn290597 It's still running in Drury Lane until 8th January.

  • i wish they could put oliver back in theaters just for people who wanna get the experience:)

  • @Hsmgirl97 It's still being performed in the West End until January. The stage show is MUCH better than the film.

  • only version i will see except the one i saw at our local theater which i must say was quite good

  • Ron Moody the BEST fagin ever :D thumbs if you think so to.

  • Dear acdcrock93. My BF is 29. Is that ok? However his mannerisms remind me of Dodger's. And love knows no boundaries. Sixties and twenties goes on all the time in many countries.

  • @spencerinlondon No, its fine, who am I to judge you? I just thought you were saying he was a teenage boy, which could raise concern.

  • R.I.P Jack Wild :) <3 luv ya o and this is ma fave song lol i no the dance and everything even the bit where the boys sing in the round... We must dissapear we'll be back here today perhaps tomorrow We'll miss you too it's sad but true that parting is such sweet sorrow and when were in the distance you'll here this whispered tune so long fair thee well pip pip cheerio we'll be back soon! miss ya jack wild ur my hero... :'( xxxxx
  • reading all of these jack wild posts are almost making me cry

  • Who plays Fagin

  • @Michael4evaJackson Ron Moody

  • Hi Juan Thanks for your message, It would be good to see the last night with Ron Moody making a guest appearance. I wish you well Keith x

  • @spencerinlondon Yes I saw him on 30th June, exactly fifty years after he first played Fagin.

  • oh I love Fagin, he's so lovely!!

  • Thanks for your message Juan! I am about to see the current London production of Oliver and I shall be watching Dodger in particular. KS

  • @spencerinlondon Sadly Ross isn't in it any more but he was from the time it opened on 14 January 2009 until the end of January this year. I expect Ron Moody will be appearing again on the final night as it will be his 87th birthday.

  • My Polish BF (he is a potential actor but dont know it) reminds me of Dodger in this film and I would have given my life savings to play the part of Fagin!! Makes me want to go and see the current London production of Oliver. Spence.

  • @spencerinlondon WAIT WHAT? You are called Keith and you have a Polish boyfriend? Thats fine, what ever you are in to is your business. But your profile says you are 63, and your boyfriend reminds you dodger in this film, who was about 14/15 when this was filmed. Do I really want to ask?

  • Ron Moody's body movements are just fantastic-certainly one of my favourite films K sunderland

  • R.I.P Jack Wild!! we all miss ya!

  • aha (: artfull doger :) i wish i was londerner :L

  • Fagin is so agile and bouncy for his age xD

  • @KiteSwift He was only 43.

  • A part of me really wanted that bridge to snap underneath them...

  • BOYS SINGING THIS PART WHILE FAGIN SINGS HIS LYRICS) BOYS: We must disappear we'll be back here today perhaps tomorrrow we'll miss you too it's sad but true that parting is such sweet sorrow! and when we're in the distance you'll hear this whispered tune, So long fare the well, pip pip cheerio we'll be back soon!
  • One of my fav songs<3

  • Fagin - Typical Jew lol

  • Can enyone help name the actor who plays the tall guy with the black hat and the brown waistcoat?

  • @alittlebeatle

    Ron Moody

  • @ericroi no ron moody is fagin..I'm talking about one of the boys. but thx anyway

  • @alittlebeatle If you go on imdb Oliver! full cast there's a list of fagin's boys, I don't know which one though. Although I know that the one that goes pick pocketing with Dodger and Oliver is called Charlie, but it doesn't specify which is Charlie on the list. But there's some info to help you look.

  • for those who want to know, the bit where the boys are singing at the same time with fagin they are singing "we must dissapear, we'll be back here today perhaps tomorrow. we'll miss you too its sad but true that parting is such sweet sorrow" and then of course they sing "and when we're in the distance, you'll here this whispered tune! so long fair the well pip pip cheerio we'll be back soon!" R.I.P Jack Wild. You will never really die as long as the dodger lives on in our memories and our hearts

  • Jack Wild will never die as long as the Dodger lives on the screen and in our hearts.

  • love it how fagin says line up

  • I had a hudge crush on the artful dodger when i was like nine

  • if they were a gang of pickpockets id think they would try and be a bit less suspicious

  • We 'll be back soon!

  • Is the guys that comes down the stairs after dodger Charlie Bates? (clive moss)

  • RIP Jack

  • I have SO much love for this film!! its the music of my childhood :P

    R.I.P Jack Wild! <3 <3 <3

also, wasn't Ron Moody the BEST fagin? :D

  • @queensofia123 When and how did Jack Wild die? Sad....and yes...Ron Moody was the best...incredibly talented!

  • @frogledy Jack Wild died of oral cancer in March 2006 after having his tongue and vocal chords removed.

  • @frogledy he died of throat cancer in 2006 - like JuanMacready said he had his tongue and vocal chords removed, due to heavy drinking and smoking in his earlier life. And yes Ron Moody was :P i love this film!! D: <3 <3

  • @queensofia123

Moody was the best. So was Oliver Reed in his role.

  • whats with olivers voice :/ RIP jack wild

  • @BlindNoMor He was dubbed by a woman.

  • Oliver the boy never sang a word and couldn’t sing, totally talentless all his life but in this film his pathetic face and useless acting kind of worked.

  • @gerladiant he could sing.

  • @LaurenPaige100 He couldn't. All his parts were sung by the directors daughter thats why they sounds wierd when he sings

  • @gerladiant Why the hell did they cast Letzer at all.

  • I really love this song and this movie.

  • Greatest musical ever

  • Rest In Peace The One && Only J A C K W I L D !!!

    Watching This Movie With My Brother Right Now (;
