Heck yeah! John Hatton and Bernie Dresel...and the King of the Cats! Good rockin music! Please check out the song I wrote as a tribute to Setzer and the Cats. I reference 15 of their songs in it. It's called "This Kitten is Smtten"
Holy Shit Duece32!! You just keep on delivering these awesome Brian Setzer/ Stray Cats clips!! What I can't work out is why they & he have barely released any DVDs of their concerts (I have Stray Cats Rock Japan from the early '90s & Rumble in Brixton & a couple of BSO DVDs)......when there is obviously so much great footage of them on tape?!?!?
he did the solo to Rock Around the Clock like it was no big deal.....and the best I've ever heard..I've been working on that damn run for fifteen years and he belts it out like it's Rockabilly 101. It must be a magic guitar or he is possessed...he is not human! oh and the band rocks too!
he did the solo to Rock Around the Clock like it was no big deal.....and the best I've ever heard..I've been working on that damn run for fifteen years and he belts it out like it's Rockabilly 101. It must be a magic guitar or he is possessed...he is not human!
Bring Bernie Back!!!!!!!!!!!! Your new drummer is the bottom of the barrel dude. I can't believe how many beats and fills he's missed the last two times I saw you. This right here is how it's done!!!!
GOOD TIMES!! Nashville was a much brighter town that night:-) My fiancee and I were rockin' in the 2nd row. Great show, GOOD TIMES! However the audience was kinda' conservative. I know...It's a Christmas show. Can't wait my daughter starts to sing Fishnet Stockings around Xmas time.
@genesimmonsoverdrive from what i can tell, its a Gretsch 6120. the paint job is just one of his custom designs. I cant find any records of it's exact name, but from the articles i've read, i know he's played about 30 different vintage and signature guitars over the years, if not more, and 90% of them are of the Gretsch hollowbody variety. so start from there.
Must of been around 1981 ish and I was going rocking to a gig at the lyceum in London and the stray cats was on (support) never heard of them before that night and they foooooking rocked the roof of the joint, nothing had been seen like this since Gene Vincent in 57, it was amazing, and the rest is history.
Man, I'd love to do bass with this guy. Sadly I'm not experienced with an upright/contra/double bass, just an electric. For anyone that thinks some of us youngsters don't know what an upright is... Ha! Then again, I'm a guitarist switched bassist. But shh. : )
@nzoneaffe thats why modern rock is called modern rock. i love this old stuff as well as our generation's bands, things evolve. it's good there music for everybody out there. peace and happy holidays!
@nzoneaffe Things progress. It cant all be "bap bap she woop doop" vintage rock and roll-a-billy. I hate 30 seconds to Mars though :) Fallout Boy are ok.
@GunShotsGoBang I've noticed that in a lot of his shows. Honestly, I believe it's the swing that he puts to the music... this generation doesn't know what to do with it.
Damn.. Talk about a hot set... nailed every freaking riff.. ever Berry!!! No doubt.. in this vid.. he's never played this good when he was 20.... Freakin awsome!!!
if anything i think his sound has matured with him, better than the setzer of yesteryear, although he has always been an amazing musician and puts on a great show
Gotta say how much i love Slim Jim, but Bernie is a far far far better musician and sussed how to compliment Brians playing from the 'off'. Gotta also say that the jury is out on hatton, cos, I personally think that Lee Rocker is the best double bass player that ever walked this crazy planet... ho hum
Mikey xx (without prejudice, and with serious affection for all parties) xx
Man, Johnny Spaz Hatton OWNS on that bass. Kinda puts Lee Rocker to shame. Though he's great too, mind you. Just not as smooth. You can tell that Hatton is a formally trained player.
The first thing I asked my bass teacher, John Hatton (The dude in the video) was, "What hell hell was that thing you did in that fishnet stockings video?!"
i love brian. the cats, whatever these people are (from the bso maybe?) and the orchestra. they all own the shitty music most people are listening to today.
I've seen him too a couple of times in Japan, his bass player rocks too, but i saw him on a tribute to rockabilly, with Elvis Costello, and he played something that blew me away, if anyone has it please post it.

Brian Setzer is the reason why I started to play guitar, if I ever get to meet him, I'll have him autograph my chest and then have it tatooed in "Signed for life"
haha thats awesome, gotta love brian setzer's rockabilly solos, check out 'The Living End' if you like this stuff, Brian Setzer is their guitarist Chris Cheney's idol.
