I think she sounds absolutely lovely. There's nothing wrong with a singer belting out a song from their soul or a singer whose voice is simply lovely. It's whatever it means to you when you hear it. And Jennifer was excellent and those backup singers were a beast!

Why does everybody think songs have to be "belted out" like this to be great nowadays? On these singing competitions people who don't oversing are often encouraged to put more "soul" into it. To each their own, but to me this is just yelling and it has none of the delicate beauty of Judy Garland's version.

I love Patti, she's so genuine, when performers sing for her she's always on her feet and feel the music along with them. Jennifer Hudson is my favorite singer big far but it seems she tried a bit to hard on that song to impress Patti Labelle.

Yes it was, throughout the whole song and concert you can hear the robotic sounds of the mic. UNCF tributes has always used this setting on the mic. Yes she did the half step scale, don't get me wrong, but the feedback of the scale wasn't particularly her sound from her voice. If it was her's, it would have just been solid and a long note the half steps up without having that break between each note.
