  • @yangfilo I love that song! Great idea -- Thanks!

  • great cover

  • best cover ive heard;perfect,CONFIDENT voice great band and guitar solo...--

  • awesome rendition

  • I saw an exceptionally twinkly star tonight....I think it was Harry's eye. I enjoy your ENTIRE family's talent. Your Dad was my FAVORITE since I was a young child. Have met your Uncle a few times and he lights up a room with his infectious smile. If it weren't for a bad storm I was going to see you in Madison, WI. Please come to Wisconsin again!!!

  • @DenineDiece

yes we will be back! Thank you!

  • Your dad is smiling!

  • what??.....this "Chick",..couldn't carry his socks,...get a grip,...

  • You should sign up for Americas got talent. Use this song.

  • Love it and you guys. :)

  • very average performance. she sounded struggling a bit.

  • Love your voice. Great song

  • I've always loved this song more than any other. Van's version is great, but this "chick" outdoes the old Morrison (sorry Van). Sooooooo f....good. Hat off to you !!!

  • WOW... good cover & great voice. She is hot

  • was Harry Chapin Jen's father?

  • @eblunot

    Sure was...

  • Sure was... and the tradition continues!

  • Sung From The Soul !

  • Big fan of Van Morrison and now a fan of Jen Chapin. I cover this song myself, but I love her jazzy soulful take on it. Beautiful!

  • i wanna maryher

  • janis joplin and van morrison had a baby and the soul is self evident. nice nice nice!

  • ...can I say...this was like school on Monday's...all class

  • Beautifully done!

  • O que eu acho incrível e fantástico é como os músicos cantam e tocam com tanta vontade, parece que o fazem com a alma. É muito lindo isso. Parabéns a todos os músicos do mundo. Eu amo música.

What I think is incredible and fantastic as the musicians play and sing with such ease, it seems like they do with the soul. It's so beautiful. Congratulations to all the musicians in the world. I love music.

  • Tu Meke chick ... Awesome !!!!

  • @msjuicyfruit7 tautoko!!! Mauri Ora!!!

  • I have listened to this song at least a 100 times and can't get enough...a wonderful song performed by real musicians. The world needs more passion like this....Amazing.

  • AS a huge VM fan I think she does this justice - gives it a different yet wionderful rendition

  • Jen Chapin is one of my favorite artist. This is just another song her voice shines in.

  • Just Divine Jen baby

  • SOME PEOPLE DOSENT KNOW MUSIC. harrys daughter can do this song just wonderful.

  • Wonderful, Jen's voice is on the money !

  • Harry Chapin's daughter singing!

  • This is my all time favorite song. Awesome

  • this is horrible, the guitar is awsome though. i would love to hear this as an instumental with the people playing. in all fairness, this is not a song that many should be singing or even attempting to sing!

  • I'm sorry I found this plodding.

  • Love this version, thanks!

  • great voice ..... and just my type of lady.

  • Yes, this is a lovely version of this song. Maybe 'Van the Man' doesn't want his stuff on u-tube - which is a shame!

  • the guitar is awsome

  • lovely band. saw them live. then they stayed at our house!

  • nice job

  • nice.

but why is it so hard to find van morrison himself on youtube?

  • I know Right!

  • @jeah87

don't say this is spam because I SWEAR it's not. It's amazing, it's youtube without videos and all the songs you can think of. You'll find out, sooner or later. Your choice. I shouldn't be bothered anyway.

  • @jeah87

    cool. thanks.

  • @1URESAM for a long time he refused youtube but now he has eased a bit -this girl does an ok version and she is easy on the eye but she also serves to show what a genius performer as well as writer little mr. grumpy is. i love joey boy, real real gone, and of course comfortably numb. if you like morrison check out paul brady -that same bitter northern vocal wine with which one can get away with gruffly saying the tenderest things.only singer around to touch them recently is ron sexsmith

  • @1URESAM Because he is very protective of his copyright.

  • @1URESAM I believe there was an agreement in his contract,to the effect that he does not own the rite to some songs he did not write...Cheers

  • @1URESAM - Like Prince ( the artist formerly known as ...) Van Morrison doesn't " agree" with you tube but unlike Prince he doesn't give away a million cds at a time for free. Some folks seem to get off on slagging artists who don't allow their creations to be posted by the world at large.I believe this is the artist's undeniable right and if "Prince" or any artist chooses a venue other than you tube it doesn't affect my enjoyment of their creations. a VM vid may be up briefly before removed.

  • @eblunot Well stated. A contrarian position, but one I share.

  • @eblunot My understanding of the situation is that it was Van's previous record company who didn't want his stuff on youtube and now he has his own label he seems perfectly happy to have his stuff on here (if you look ,it''s all over the place). Van is certainly a little 'different' but please don't even suggest he's quite as 'different' (cough) as Prince, LOL.

  • Nice version..

There will never be another Van, but his songs are kept alive by performers like her.

  • how can you people say this girl is good? there's definately a reason she's singing in front of 20 people. you can't seriously take on van morrison tho, maybe if it was a different song you'd be better but it was painful.

  • one of the sexist versions of this song i wanna feel it

  • I love this. Great performance of a great song.

  • she's sound so lovely- remand me voice of Janis Joplin - carry on baby

  • Sounds Great

  • Lovely voice , fantastic guitar, good bass but it does not work n I cant say why

  • that's because you're so used to hearing Van Morrison...two completely different takes on the song

  • Yes, MaryAnn you may be right, but look at the way the VM version moves through the song nice and smooth like on a calm sea and bringing you along and this version which has long sound gaps, sounds a bit hollow. Thanks for making me think!

  • @kennywilliamm

Not enough of a sense of remembrance, loss and pain.

    No horns.

The original by V.M. towers over all others.

  • I've always wanted to hear a female cover this song which is one of my FAVORITE all time songs and most favorite Van Morrison song!!! Awesome! LOVE IT!!!

  • i wanna rock your gypsy soul

  • She´s got a voice that´s nice listening to. Great performance. Nice lyrics...And I like the guitar sound in this song.

  • great performance...wonderful interpretation of VM's song...as a pro guitar player of 35 yrs exp I think the guitar tuning is fine -maybe the effects used (poss a chorus and digital delay -maybe slow tremolo) throw some ppl off - anyway, a great guitar solo -imo

  • Jen Chapin is the daughter of Harry Chapin. I saw her on an episode of Biography.

  • So much better then my cover... I cant compete w/ that voice and a stand-up bass. Bravo

  • Jen is Van Morrison's daughter?????

  • She does her dad's song justice. My fave Van song.Jen sings it beautifully. Thanks for posting this one!

  • WONDERFUL, Jen has the chops to sing any song she wants, as a jazz guitar player, I want to gig with her. Great job Jen and if we never meet, good luck and God bless

  • Awesome performance!

  • i think she is amazing, we played this song by van morrison for my mothers funeral, and you have sang it so beautifully i love a song that i once hated... i don#t care what others think well done x

  • UGH!! However, better than looking at the ego-tinged Van videos with the giant VM logos!

  • Lovely phrasing. Nice arrangement. Very well done.

  • She is alot like robinella--check her out

  • Its like Van Morison wrote it for her.

  • Why on earth can't we find the origional verson??

  • Have you heard about those pesky copyright laws?!

  • Yeah, I have, but they are easy to get across. I mean there are many other sites that you can find every other song on, but this one. And I want to listen to it.

  • very nice, thanks for sharing.

  • Not to be crazy or anything but with your short hair, your voice, and your determination your a Beautiful woman,Thank You Jen

  • Wonderful! Thanks, Val, for sharing!

    *****

  • Wonderful, Jen...

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent!! Great song, great rendition!!

  • Comment removed

  • this is the best

  • Great; not an easy song to do.

  • I have heard men and women sing this song and ruin it and you are by far the "BEST" that replacated it.......Your band is awsome too A+++++++++++ thank you A+++++++++too your band

  • bravo, very good rendition. You can sing some good tunes. do some marriane faithful songs too!

  • Hope you like my version posted as a reply. 5 stars to you. sherrill

  • WOW!!!! sing it sister you have an voice great job!!!! WOW

  • sounds amazing on my surround sound. chillin with a brew. late at nite. thx

  • Very good cover

  • Go and put yer fur boots on :P I love this cover :)

  • Jen you've got a beautiful voice, but please if your gonna sing this song which I can tell you've got it in you to do, you gotta get some musican's that can play the song......

  • Does anyone have Van video or lyrics for "The Mystic?

  • Yes

  • I saw her dad, Harry at the Whiting Auditorium in Flint, MI in the late 70's...He tried to explain to the rather large audience that for some reason his band didn't arrive simultaneously with him. He performed alone - with his guitar. It was a SPECTACULAR performance! Daddy left a legacy. Jen has a beautiful voice and emotional delivery of one of my all time fave songs. He did good! I'm glad she is out there! I'd pay to see her, for SURE! NICE POST, THANKS!

  • What a nice post. Thanks

  • Nice. Very nice

  • If you already love the song and know and loved her father Harry Chapin, then you will experience this song differently.

  • Ew this chick could NOT be more annoying. she sounds terrible.

  • i love this song.

  • I like the band, but I prefer the Colin James cover of this song. Her voice is beautiful, but a little to lyrical for this song.....needs more of a soulful sound

  • so?

  • i love listen to this song with my eyes closed

  • "Smell the sea and feel the sky, let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic" ........"and I want to rock your gypsy soul, just like back in the days of old, and magnificently we will fold into the mystic"

Such a magical Van Morrison song......yes indeed, *I want to rock your gypsy soul*.........

  • Jen is fabulous, but the guitar player should have tuned before playing. She has perfect pitch, so his guitar sounds out of tune.

  • She is soulful and sharp I love her tones she does have all that bleusy sound I love it! So clear! Instrumentals are fantastic with accoustic sound and no horns bravo great tribute for this song!

  • You rock it, Sister!

  • I agree with you. She has a great voice. I enjoyed listening to her. Of course nobody sings this song like Van Morrison. and I don't think she is trying to pass herself off as him.LOL I hope she don't let the negative comments bother her.

  • i think you are great who cares about the rude comments some rude ppl have to say you go girl

  • Her voice sounds good, and on the right material she could probably do quite well, but this is not a song she should be singing... for me, her voice is light, gentle and caressing, and I think "Into The Mystic" needs a voice with solid conviction... I think I'll investigate her website...

  • Like tamelanj I was searching for Van doing this song b/c I just listened to it on my mp3 and I wanted to post his exquisitness on my FB page...she is terrible. Her band is really good though.

  • Harry would be proud Jen, good job!

  • Comment removed

  • i didn't seek this out just to criticize. i was trying to find a video of van singing this. that said, this is terrible. sorry.

  • beautiful cover !

  • I just saw the DEAD do this song at the Gorge Amphitheater 5-16-09. They did a great job and turned it into a 10 minute jam session. I am enjoying every version of this song as I learn it. I want to play it myself on guitar. I am watching every version on YT and so far this is my favorite.

  • I thought she did a great job

  • Sounds really nice..thanks

  • It´s a little bit strange:" I love and i hate Van Morrison"!!!. I´m always grumble about him. When there´s a new album of him - I must buy it and hear ´till I bring up!

One thi`s shure: In every sussesful Movie is a Van Morrison Song!

  • Good version. Morrison's song though, one of the best songs ever....

  • If Jen's dad could hear this he would say " the kids are alright tonight". Beautiful job and it bridges the generations.

  • I think Jen is awesome. Thanks! I'm going to try to find your CD.

  • Really NICE... vocals, arrangement, backup.

  • Who would dare try this after hearing Van's? This is damn good.

  • We were born beforwe the wind,oh so younger than the Sun,We are one ,infact ,there is only one I in the Universe. Now is the access Point, awaken.

  • She sounds great......... she's Harry Chapin's daughter!

  • I don't really like her voice for this song.

  • really nice

I'll bet Van the Man would like this

  • tell me I'm not the only one who finds this funny.

  • hey you're right this is funny

  • Awsome great job!!!!

  • brilliant! So amazing.

  • EAP775150 - maybe Lyle Lovett's She's no Lady she's my wife would have been a better first dance choice - sorry couldn't resist :)

  • Wonderful soulful voice

  • Band kicks ass. and your voice is killer....way to go.

  • Very nice. Should have been the song played during my wedding. First Dance. Some genius decided that Shania Twain was better. That genius was my ex-wife. Hell, it probably was her mother. Either way, I didn't have a choice.

  • That, there, should have been your first clue XD (sorry, I don't mean to sound mean, I feel your pain. Shania??? WTH!)

  • No one clapping louder than Harry......

  • She loves this song as much as I do. Beautiful.

  • Hi Jen.... its Holly and Todd. Looks like you are doing great. Best to you and your husband. ps Holly said your voice sounds fucking amazing.

  • awesome..... loved it.

  • Wow, love this song and love this version of the song. Favorited.

  • When I tire of the ugliness and hatred in this world, I look for beauty in art or music. This video restores my soul and allows me to have faith that mankind might make it after all. Jen I met your father, and he was a good man. Keep up the good work!

  • You're so wright man......

  • Sweet .........

  • I think both this version and the one done by Swell Season are the best covers of Van Morrison out there!

  • Beautiful. Love Van and Harry.

Never heard of Jen till now. Going to search for more Jen and Harry Chapin stuff.

Loving life and music these days. This morning I listended to Chapin, Stevie Wonder, George Michael, Ray Charles, The Nobs (haha, classic), Billy Joel, Van the Man, prolly a few more I don't remember.

Thanks Jen and YouTube, with timeless love from the suburbs of the US.

PS. Imperialism sucks. Love is the answer.

  • Very nice!

  • Nicely done....and I often don't like Van Morrison covers.

  • gave me chills, so beautifully done!!

  • simply, beautiful....

    simply, thanks...

  • Amazing! Love Jen Chapin.

    Davenport fan.

  • Great vocal.

  • Amazing.

    Thank you.

  • Sounds kinda like Ani Difranco! Nice rasp in the upper register.

  • Is she related to Harry Chapin?
