  • Good!

Though they are a fancy big time band, I'd not put *too* much stock in GBS's rendition. It probably has its origin in Ewan MacColl's recording of the 1950s-60s, or the revival based on that. The "blood" part, rather than "mud" is one thing that gives it away ;)

Not to mention that it drops or obscures the bits about Liverpool and New York, as if to make it a "pure" Newfie song :)

I love that you have done all these renditions. Thanks!

  • You bring up a very good point. The GBS arrangement is just that, an arrangement instead of a performance of a written work (another reason why I posted the different versions; both related and non to this particular tune). There are a couple more out there as well but the site I was doing them for already had them done by another singer. Thanks for taking the time to have a listen! Your comment is greatly appreciated!

  • Great version! Thanks for posting, and greetings from Scotland.

  • Thanks for stopping in!

  • Good stuff Travis! ... I think your voice is pure and easy on the ears. You just need a little more confidence... You are getting those notes!
