In 1990, Ivan Rebroff gave a concert in our city. That evening I went to the cinema with my buddies. Suddenly a black limousine with tinted windows stopped and someone turned down the rear indow. It was Ivan Rebroff. He was actually wearing his fur hat and kindly asked for the way to the church (where the concert took place). Those were just 10 seconds of my life, but I'll never forget this and his steady but voluminous sounding voice.

wunderschön gesungen - nur leider hier nicht live. hab erst gedacht, die tonspur sei verrutscht, aber tatsächlich passen die lippenbewegungen manchmal und manchmal nicht. macht mir aber nichts aus, denn es war ja absolut üblich bei solchen sendungen.. wenigstens weiß man bei ihm, dass er das irgendwann mal selbst eingesungen hat und nichts zu verstecken hatte :)

It's originally the Bach Prelude No. 1 from the Well Tempered Klavier. In the 19th cent. the French composer Charles Gounod added the melody and the words to Ave Maria. Look for Bach-Gounod and you can find the sheet music. Or play the Bach and repeat the first four measures as an introduction for the voice! PS Rebroff takes a strange vocal detour near the end that is not usually sung.
