This death should not have happened to Terri.

Do think Obamacare can do better? We can currently shop for other insurance coverage although it's not guaranteed. Govt would've immediately pull the plug instead of giving the family the choice to allow Terri to live.
Terri's immediate family had no choices because it wasn't their choice to make. They wanted to keep her alive for their own sake not for terri's and they testified in court that they didn't care what her wishes were that keeping her alive made them feel good. We spend more on insurance than any other country and get less back. Why shouldn't private insurance have to compete against someone who isn't in it for a profit motive?
It's sad that Terri didn't have a living trust to allow her family to have the choice to let her live. According to HR 3200, govt will approved the treatment at end-of-life. Govt will also approve your living will w/ a mandatory end-of-life counseling. I don't want govt to determine my fate!
And you would still be able to shop for other insurance. Nowhere in the law did they say the government will take over completely. Terri's family had no choice in the matter they had no control over her life nor did they have a right to her. They wanted to do what they wanted not what she wanted

Terri was disabled, not brain damaged. There is a huge difference. A disabled woman was put to death simply because she was not able to speak for herself. People need to stand up for the rights of those that can not speak for themselves. There was a 911 call before Terri ever went to the hospital in the first place (a great possibility of domestic violence) YET the court still allowed Terri's life to be stopped, cut down cold. This death should not have happened to Terri.

A man in a similar state,Rom Houben, was misdiagnosed, and for over 20 years was considered a vegtable like her. If you do not want to accept the fact that she has no brain activity for many years that is your choice. The fact that brain scans showed the 70% of her brain was liquid..that is fine too. But the bottom line is that I know of NOBODY who would prefer to live like her for 15 years. Her husband could have filed for divorce and simiply walked away...he already had the money. He chose to stay to see her woshed carried out. A very difficult and prolonged battle. I respect him.

After the autopsy it was found that her brain weighed only half of what it should have. All brain regions were noted to have SEVERE damage. It was determined that the patient was indeed in a persistent vegitative state that ws absolutely irreversible.

HR 3200 states that everyone is required to be covered either private or govt insurance. If not covered you'll be penalized & put on the govt insurance. BTW medicare & medicaid (a public option) reject funding treatment & drugs too. Private insurance needs to be improved instead of the govt overhauling the health care & insurance.

The consumer gets screwed because they only have to go by the state they are selling from's rules. Are you paying attention to what you write? We currently are rationed on our health care. Private insurance companies ration care, tell your doctors what procedures than can do, what exams are allowed. They ration your drugs and how much you get per year even when costs go up you still get rationed. Private insurers already choose not to cover treatment for life threatening illnesses and often will cut someone off it becomes too costly

Terri's immediate family had no choices because it wasn't their choice to make. They wanted to keep her alive for their own sake not for terri's and they testified in court that they didn't care what her wishes were that keeping her alive made them feel good. We spend more on insurance than any other country and get less back. Why shouldn't private insurance have to compete against someone who isn't in it for a profit motive?

The govt can reject treatment even if a person is covered. You can always shop around for other insurances and find ways to be covered. W/ Obamacare, there is no other alternative unless you have $ for medical tourism outside the US.
