Starcraft: Broodwar is my favorite RTS, but i have much respect for this game!

Unlike starcraft stressfull expirience when playing with the requirement to have fingers moving with the speed of light, Red Alert 2 feels really relaxing to play. I enjoy fun time 100% with this game :)

Rhino tank = best unit in game

Iron Curtain = no can defend

Mirage tanks = worthless, build them and get pwnd by desos, free win

Prisms= too fragile, slow and expensive, build too many and get stomped by Rhinos

Grand Cannon= ultimate n00b weapon, too expensive & power hungry, u will be rushed and killed by anyone with any skill, also dies 1v1 vs cheaper apocs

Allies couldn't compete with Soviets at all (-;

Sea battles = OK, I grant him that one (-;

@grathapilot 1 mirage tank could always be sent out to intercept flaktraks carrying desos, and korea fighters pwn soviet aggression. recently I've managed to beat two soviet players by myself who play ra2 regularly. They thought i was somebody else under another name. Mirage tanks are by far the best tank.

The westwood online servers are still up..and laddered tournys are still being held, with prizes and cash up for grabs.

So if you got red alert 2 jump on and if you dont, its 30 bucks for the first decade, which is every C&C game since the beginning to tiberium wars.

And btw, the soviets can very much compete with the allieds, if your good enough.

Jump on the servers, have a crack at the legendary red alert 2, and get your gamer on!

strange, I'm a bit of a one-shot one-kill strategist. I would think that an extended game would be advantagous for the soviets. I mean, cheaper units and defenses, not to mention you can just Kirov spam and use Seige Chopper flocks to pwn any other moving object.

Soviet is good at early game. I'm always wins every Allied turtler players with Rhino rush. However, I thinks allied units still cheat at overall, if soviet player can't defeats allied opponent at early game, the chance to win is nearly zero.

I've tried everything, outnumbered Terror Drone, outrange with V3 and use Kirovs as decoil or even mix them together but all failed.

Generals has more balanced but remain faction's strengh and weakness.

Rushing better than the other person's rush and properly using cannon fodder, and messing with the enemies' timing of cannon shots by forcing them to rotate their guns turns rushing into something more complex than you originally thought. Haven't even played this in years and I still remember all this.

Mirage tanks absolutely raped apocalypses and infantry, and were undetectable. Prism tanks outranged all soviet defenses, and the Grand Cannon didnt allow anyone within firing range.  As far as sea battles go, air craft carriers absolutely destroyed dreadnaughts, which could easily be shot down by aegis cruisers. Soviets couldnt compete with the allies at all

Actually this is how it worked. Naval maps allied advantage. Large maps, allied advantage. Medium maps, usually about equal depending on landscape and tech derrick location/gem location. Small maps, Soviet advantage. The old balance was that there were just enough small maps to offset the imbalance of the other maps against the soviet players for random selection of maps during quick matching. My buddy played Korea as well, not many know the potential there.

@chodemaster2009 Well, that changes in it's expansion pack Yuri's Revenge. Now they have a new hero Boris, his machine gun is very good against infantry, and vehicles. He also could call in airstrikes on buildings, whereas Tanya would have to go right up to the building, and bomb it. Boris should remain with defenses around him, where he is still vulnerable to attack. Tanya's way of destroying buildings is too risky.

Decent micro skills but these guys have not done their homework on team stats- America is the only team to pick - The game was heavily unbalanced in their favour. Chrono miners mine twice as quick from the teleport they do for drop off and the paratroopers gave a huge early game advantage. Plus nothing beats tank/infantry swarms like prisim tanks.

That's a hard sell, prism tanks get chewed up by apocalypse tanks. I personally find the sheer power of the Soviets to be much more powerful than the Allies forces. They also have awesome long range sea bombardment.

Tank swarms never consist of apocalypse tanks as they are very expensive. Prism tanks should be used long range with backup obviously. Intel is a great asset, Spy sat and Gap generators gave another huge advantage to allies. Purely on economics alone (miner ability) allies have an advantage. Unless they balanced that. But even then the spy sat and gap generator how do you balance that?

If you tech up that much, you are already beating the opponent if they don't win. If you were america and you tech'ed, the soviet player was doing something wrong. Only Allied side in a very equal situation at a high level of playing that could tech up was Korea. Black Eagle rush enabled them to stop any infantry or tank attack as the enemy was building the units, not even moving into the base yet. If you properly used them and were quick.
