@aarlevanbram Thanks for watching buddy. They are awesome. Have you got the Japanese import of wonderland ? Jeez that cost me a small fortune back in the day
If you bought the Green album with the textured sleeve this was on it, also later on the red one, not the blue tho... What one did you guys all have????
@gillo69 hi buddy. I have the blue albun on vinyl and the red one on cd. The blue one was the first one released as im sure you know. I have many vinyl albums and cd's. Do you have the Japanese inport of Wonderland. That was not cheap back in the 80's and the Canadain import of Lookaway was slightly different to the English version.
@blertoly Indeed mate, have nearly all of their stuff at this stage man, Funnily Enough 'Look Away' got to Number 1 over in Ireland where I live. Great Song Great Band!
@gillo69 hi again mate. Yeah they made some damn good stuff. Amazing band abd Stu is sadly missed. The man was a genious. Look away only made number 6 over here. Thanks again mate.
@Nigelxman yeah, i wish it was played live too during the times i watched the great band, standing in awe of the amazing sounds from Stu's guitar and the passion in his voice
@zinkzoyd yeah, i agree. This is a wonderful song and the magic of music is totally captured here. Thanks for watching and sharing your thought with me.
A masterpiece !!!...7 minutes of bliss which capture.s what a genius Stuart was...i can never tire of listening to this...Big Country never sang about pretenious crap...Stuart wrote songs about his feeling of hopes and dreams and fear,s...A very intelligent and humble man...God how we miss you Stuart...
@i4bc. I love the comment about pretentious crap. I totally agree. I think Neil got caught up too much with big words and big drumsets. I laugh at Neils lyrics now. While Stu's lyrics still resonate, even more as the years go by.
@i4bc I remember many repeat plays of this during high school afternoons in New York.. big fans of Big Country back in 1983 and 1984. They'd had a big hit with In a Big Country.. when my brother got this EP.. I think it was a domestic US release? .. It was a 4 song masterpiece.. this is a glorious song.. my favorite on the EP but I loved every song.. all fall together.. angle park.. wonderland and finally the crossing... haven't heard this in a good 20 years or more!
An unbelievable song...one of their best for sure...I'm glad BC didn't become as huge as other bands because most of the quality of their music usually ends up suffering...Stuart was a genius, on another intellectual level...I think he was deeply affected by the way the world was going...I think eventually that is what killed him... see you on the other side Stuart...RIP
@07supermauri . What true words you have written. Stuart was always worried about the world and people as to what they do to each other. Like his concert on New York Pier back in the 80's when a fight broke out n his words regarding the fight during the inwards track..... he hated violence. what a great man
Big Country magnificence. Sublime musicianship here, with changes in mood and tempo. The rhythm section of Butler and Brzezicki are at their best on this. I don't know if this was ever played live, it certainly justified it. This is up there with The Sailor and Porrohman, as a classic Big Country epic.
@GOLLYSKYWOOD2 yeah it was played live, often. I saw BC many times. Porrohman is awesome, a thousand stars too. Ships was a wonderful song, so many to choose from. Perfect world, fragile thing....... so much to discuss
I was a record reviewer on my college paper in 1984 and we got copies of The Crossing and The Unforgettable Fire at about the same time, and back then, and now, I thought, "Shit, U2 is bigger, but this Big Country album is better!" I mean song for song it isn't even close, it's Pride (in the name of love), Bad and the title track vs. In a Big Country, Inwards, Fields of Fire, 1000 Stars, Porrohman. And then the song The Crossing is the band's best song, LOL
@tdelacruz61 hey buddy, your comms are so true. Big Country never gave in to commercialisation. Stuart always produced song's from his feelings of life. U2 were good back then but never on the same page as B.C. Stu was taken away from us when he had so much more to say, through his music and his lyrics. He will always be missed. He is a legend
Thanks for posting...this song should have been included on the original LP. If they hadn't released it as a B-side to a maxi-single, I may have never heard of it. Long? Yes, but you wouldn't know it. What a epic, driving song! Thanks again!
You are so right, The Crossing is an awesome song.
Its one of my favs. I fell in love with that song and still Im in love with it. Such an uprising, uplifting song. It gives me energy for the whole day.
Ian- Thank you so much for sharing these images of the my favorite band from my youth and still my favorite band today. Having never been able to see the band live I am so gratefull to you and to all Big Country fans for the time you spend to create these tributes to these remarkable four men that carry such emotion with their music. Hopefully we will be able to bring Stuart's music to the next generation "so that their name will never die and this time will last forever."
thanks for that my buddy, i am glad you enjoyed my little piece on the legend that is our Stu. the next generation has already begun, my daughter loves Big Country........... my fault lol.
