Man,this song is damn good! the vocals, the melody, the arrangement, but what would you expect from Donna,Crayons is a good album, every song could be a single.
This song represents many years of poetry I've written on the many people and experiences I've come across, I'd like to dedicate it to my first True Love who remains the Love of my life...M.C.
Very strong emotional song. Great lyrics and melody. The production is also simple but pure. Finnaly we can listen to real popsongs. Donna, very good songs you make.
beautiful song: the whole album is good. Must say that the last track only in europe is the best, brings back memories and I can hear the sound of georgio moroder. But this song.... wauw.....
Donna Summer will always be the best...Give credit where credit is due..She out ranks many of the artists today..If you have nothing good to say, then say nothing at all...
Listen people, I'm sure that Donna has made a name for her, the fact that she did another album is amazing to me. Not that she needed to make a come back, but the fact that her fans wanted her back... This album was good enough for me. The CD made have fallen from the billboards, but Donna Summer is still working hard, doing what she knows best. with a full schedule of concerts coming up,
Like I've posted elsewhere, sex sells, and Donna left that behind in 1979 - she got remarried and had two more kids - Mom in a Merry Widow and miniskirt wasn't her thing anymore. That's what Tina used in '84 with Private Dancer - the songs AND the GREAT LEGS!! look what happened!!
Donna pre-1980 was a great package, but after '79, she became an adult product, worthy of Broadway or Vegas, but kids were no longer buying her posters to put on their bedroom walls.
OK So we are taking a detour again here. The wonderful Crayons" is full of little nice surprises but before enjoy the CD we all need to relax and take the trip" all along with Donna. Forget record deals, forget future, forget sales, forget the "economic's". "Fame" can make fool of anyone". Peace!
It's funny in how some people try to measure successfull music with sales, just ridiculos!!Now, Summer's music always being so ahead of the time and so playfull of colors and styles, but you only know this IF you REALLY known her music. Truly fans are not surprise with this great cd, the new ones are because they expected disco back! Hello ,this CD is call "CRAYONS" for some obvious reasons!!!
There are economic realities that you seem to ignore. If Donna puts out a CD that bombs, what are the chances she will put out another one, especially at her age?
Since when sales = quality? Since when age = bad music? Since when duets with the young and pretty" = success? Since when another cd will change her legacy? She's well beyond that..and more. I think Crayons" satisfied real fans from head to toe. What the tomorrow brings? Who knows, for sure we will dance to the LAST DANCE since Black dont Crack" and 60's age is nothing this days!!
Whether you want to acknowledge it, there are economic realities. Artists can't get expensive albums produced and marketed if there is no audience. There is simply a very limited audience for this CD. After only 3 weeks, it has already fallen out of Billboard's Top 100 albums. Donna will have a hard time going back to Burgundy Records and getting another album produced. That's just economics.
Amazing how Donna Summer is being compared/or put in the same category with two women that really don't have voice ability's, Just music sound track. I guess music really sales,,
What a powerful balad with amazing lyrics. Donna, it is so glad to have you back with a full-length album. I can't have enough of Crayons. The more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it.
A VOICE THE VOICE A GREAT VIBRATION A LARGE SPECRUM IN REAL EMOTIONS;;;;; music for the brain for the heart;;;; who can ask for anything more;;;;; thks donna
Really? Did you really listen to the album..Altough it made not be the Donna Summer we're use to hearing, Donna did give a good performace..Let's give her credit..She's still around and pleasing her fans, Can't say that about the many...How far back you go with Donna?
I have all of her albums from 1980 forward. In fact, she's my favorite vocalist, male or female. An all-out dance album would have made more sense. Even her singles in recent years have all been dance music. I don't understand the inclusion of songs like "Slide Over Backwards" or "Bring Down the Reign". Maybe her fans didn't either. The album only moved 23,000 units in its debut.
ok, I hear you, I go back 75'...& maybe just maybe, the reason for my comment is that, although I may not go out dancing as much, it's go the hear something different...& still know that I can appricate a few new song from Donna, that can be played at home..Listen, If I get the urge to jump, I'll play the old stuff, can't go wrong with that..
Hang on hang on!!! Donna Summer is an incredbily talented artist who has given music to her fans for over 30 years. It shouldn't just be about the amount of 'units' she shifts. This new record is very now in terms of production and overall vibe. Howevr, she has NOT alienated her original fans either. This record is very very good, so please give Donna a break. If she never made another record she will have done more than enough.
If it's very "now", why isn't it selling? She certainly has promoted it, though she's not promoted it well. It's inexplicable that she didn't do a kick-ass video for "Stamp", leading up to the album's release. The flimsy lyrics of "I'm a Fire" failed to ignite the charts, other than the dance chart. We know that an inactive 1980-90's artist can still cross over to charts other than dance, because Abdul did so with "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow" and Cher re-emerged with
Because very now does not always equal a massive seller, and does that really matter? As for the US I do not know as I am in the UK. But what I do know is that in the UK we have always liked Donna Summer. The Top 40 is no longer a measure of success here.
A great song. If Donna Summer had to go through all she did to get to this state of mind, it was worth the trip for her and for me--at least. I won't speak for anyone else.
As I listened to it for the first time, I kept hoping that Whitney Houston would get to this state of mind someday too.
That one dislike is
still searching for their own reflection
