I was 21 years old when the allbum "Jordan: The comeback" was released. I still listen to it now 21 years later.....the lyrics in the second verse of this song are just beautiful (O;
@sproutnet This seems to be a home video (VHS) recording, yet the sound seems to good for an old videotape, assume it's been sync'd to a decent audio using a record. Well done.
A song saluting the close of the 20th century seven years before it's over? "Tonight let's raise a glass, my friend, to those who couldn't make it...We ask for any wrong we've done, the years ahead forgive us; we ask for any good we've done, may all of it outlive us." Who else but Paddy McAloon could deliver such a poignant eulogy? It's the first prayer on Jordan:TCB, and it sets the stage for the Jesse James Symphony and the magnum opus on Side 4. Great stuff- but why are their videos so lame?!
I dunno. Do i have tears listening to this song for the years gone, for a sense of loss that comes with maturity, or for the memory of the brash and bulletproof days before loss ever touched me? Whatever the reasons, long live prefab sprout!
Many thanks,I have never seen this video before.I don`t think it was shown on tv in the uk,or played on the radio much.Shame.Please release an album soon!
Just beautiful as all of Paddy's music is. Jordan The Comeback one of my ALL TIME favourite albums Thanks for posting Come back to Dublin Paddy PLLLEEEEASSE we love you
Yay! I was hoping there was a video of this song! Thank you thank you thank you sproutnet for uploading what is really a melancholy song, despite the uptempo brass flourishes.

the musical genius of Paddy McAloon and his Prefab Sprout cohorts is first and foremost great music.
when the music is this good it is so difficult to match it up within the video format.
for me a video many times detracts from hearing the intricacies of the musical composition.
seeing and hearing the live performance is my favorite style of video.
support live music while we musicians are alive.
once we leave this earth only the recordings and video's are available to you.
peace,
rich

Actually, the song was released in 1990, a full decade before the close of the 2nd Millennium.
