Awesome movie - wow, I was shocked to hear that they want US citizens to pledge to be the president's servant! OMG. Whatever happened to the government and the President serving YOU! That ideal clearly died with JFK.
I've been a huge Demi Moore fan since St. Elmo's Fire, but she just lost me on this one. I had never heard her (or anyone) pledge to be a servant to a president-- especially this president--that's just vulgar.
Because socialism is a failed violent structure based on the pretense of knowledge. Either you follow the laws of economic law or control which destroys the creative flow of things and takes away the spontaneous order of the market, that no bureaucratic can duplicate.
Markets (people) should be free because that is the only moral and practical system, instead of totalitarianism and rule by force, not ideas.
@RyanR3volution uhm, socialism doesn't restrict the freedoms of anyone, let alone their ideas, and it's not about violence either, socialism is a theoretical system in which the power of the state is decided by the community as a whole
Socialism does restrict peoples freedom, their economic freedom which is part of their freedom, freedom cannot be diced into halves. I do not and will never consent to the fruits of my labors being centrally planned by bureaucrats. I want to be left alone and voluntarily trade with people.
Communities do not have rights, only individuals do.
If someone cannot be done without the use of violence, then it should not be done at all.
@RyanR3volution i think that last paragraph is supposed to say something as opposed to someone, and the police force has to sometimes get violent, does that mean we shouldn't have a police force? and i think people can deal with their economic freedoms being restricted if their money goes towards things such as: a police force, fire department, medical practitioners, teachers, etc.
You are ignoring that agression is always morally wrong, self defense is not. The IRS man is not defending himself from a person who does not want to pay taxes, that is simple theft by force.
Using agression to supply a good undermines the very tenants of the human spirit, self ownership. Voluntary market decesions are always better quality and more efficient than ones that hold their place by a state monopoly.
It is not ok to use force on peaceful people, NO matter the scenario.
@RyanR3volution what if that force is for the individuals good? for example, what if a baby is continually attempting to touch a hot iron and you slap his hand, yes you used force, but it was for the child's own good, a light smack on the hand would have been less painful than if the child had burned their hand
You are conflating two entirely different things, you as a adult have NO right to use aggression on others, you do not have the right to use aggression for what you think is good. A child is completely different from a adult, adults act independently and are responsible for hteir actions.
It is kinda sick to conflate centrally planning peoples lives with the use of force with a parent, parenting. The state is no parent, it is violence, it is aggression, not reason.
@DesX42S Well, if the kid burns himself enough times, he'll figure it out. After a while it becomes "common sense!" A skill most people today are born without!!!!
@DesX42S First, a thumbs up for (I assume) posting a question. WAY too many folks on youtube (me included at times) just want to scream their own point of view, and to hell with everyone else. Socialism scares people, especially folks of my generation (I am 60), because it represents the loss of personal freedom. The Nazi party in Germany was the "National Socialist Party." Socialism may at first sound wonderful, but a superstrong govt only wants still more power.
@VrgniaMailman that i can understand, but the nazi party wasn't true socialism, true socialism is where the power isn't held by a government per say, but the entire community (everyone)
i can, the nation was called "German Democratic Republic" and it had (as they proclaimed themself) "the in reality exsisting Socialism"....short sidenote it failed and doesnt exsist no more due to "bankrubcy"
@DesX42S Wasn't the NAZI party fascist? OR is that one in the same to your socialism?? I believe the Soviets had a crack at socialism/communisim. Hmnnnn.
@Maxokll fascism is nothing like socialism, fascism is where the power of the state belongs entirely to the government, socialism is the exact opposite, where power of the state is controlled by the entire community
@DesX42S That is incorrect, both in socialism and fascism power is with people to elect officials.Difference is in socialism all property is publicly owned, while in fascism property is privately owned but the government directs how it is used.since in fascism just like socialism officials are elected by the people, effectively it turns out to be the same thing.public officials control how property is used or disposed off.
@avgleandt uhm, no, the definition of socialism is as follows: a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole. and fascism is a form of government led by a dictator who forcefully controls the country
@DesX42S your comparing economics to politics.Hitler for example was first elected democratically.then yes he became a dictator. "inherent aspect of fascist economies was economic dirigisme, meaning an economy where the government exerts strong directive influence, and effectively controls production and allocation of resources." economically they are not different, politically they can both be a dictatorship or democracy.
@avgleandt i fail to see how they're the same in any way, that includes economically, if i become the ruler of a fascist empire, i can make the economic system whatever I choose, regardless of the people's input, which is what socialism is all about, so i could make it communist, capitalist, whatever i choose, not what the people choose
@DesX42S you are describing a dictatorship, which is a political system.a dictator like you say can decide which economic system to have. fascism and socialism are similar economic systems because in both how property is used is not decided by the owner. in capitalism how property is used is decided by the owner.that is all i am saying.
the German Nazi's or National Socialist Democratic Workers Party and the Russian Social Communist Party where only different in the name, both used the same "agenda or ideology if you will and of course where in different locations, other than that Stalin same as Hitler first did disarm their citizen and then went after anyone that was against them, they did hunt them down with their "state security" agency's and in some cases shot on sight
All the comments are written by people who can't take criticism regarding the President, yet more people like this video than dislike...could it be that there's a Silent Majority here?
@nexusone1984 I'm a liberal and I find this hilarious. It was republicans who thought Colbert was a conservative for the longest time (until it was blatantly pointed out to them).
TERRIBLE.... My goodness. You have to be kidding me! I can provide a lot of commentary as to how this video has no correlation between the "Borg and The Obama Administration".... But this is so worthless to uneducated minds. Shame on you for degrading our current Commander and Chief!
@ChristSwordservant Me too!! You got a thumbs up, amigo (or amiga). @ avgleandt: I am a fan of Star Trek: Next Generation. I just forwarded this video in a link within an e-mail to two of my buddies. By the way, one of them is black and is also a veteran (in fact, both of them are veterans), and he does NOT like what Obama and the super - liberal Congress of 2009-2010 have done to our deficits and spending and national debt. I agree with him fully. THANKS VERY MUCH FOR THE VIDEO!!
@brnt7342 Ron Paul is the only true president and only he should be took notice of, the rest of the represent decades of more wars, your economy cant expand if your corrupt government is spending trillions of dollars oversees and your already bankrupt, all the fed can do is print more money, the others wont do nothing about the fed they just steal ron pauls ideas and use them as their own to look clever, theres only 1 ron paul, vote for him or your government will take you down with them.
@brnt7342 that is not true. it is not about people following a leader or sharing same beliefs. it is about what belierfs one holds. Obama's beliefs and his suppoters are very collectivists. Ron Paul ideas are more about individualism.
@avgleandt I was referring to political followers behaving as drones and not thinking for themselves. The GOP, Tea Party and Democratic party all have plenty of them.
RW CONServative Bush and cronie Wallstreet WRECKED the Economy. And for almost 3 years Obama trying to help AMERICA and the RW CONS are blocking him EVERY step of the way. UNPATRIOTIC RW CONS say NO to AMERICAN JOBS, NO to tax breaks for the little guys, NO to Social Security, NO to Health Care. GOP wrecked and blocked progress on the economy....so WHY should we blame Obama??? I WILL NEVER TRUST THE RW CONServatives WITH ANYTHING!!!! NOT NATIONAL DEFENSE AND NOT THE ECONOMY EITHER!!!!!!!
@kdc43 All u said is BS- Liberals are the ones who wrecked the economy like they always do but fine, worship and be a servant to Obama liberal drone. I have grown up in cali and have listened to retards like u all my life. answer one question- why is texas the greatest job creator in the nation and Cali is hostile to businesses and always in debt killing and decimating the private sector? Why?
@agnostaxian ... Texas is the number one job creator because they have enough oil revenues to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to lure companies away from states like California that are broke. Regarding who wrecked the economy in 2008, go buy a dvd called "Inside Job." It explains very clearly who is to blame. I have bad news for Liberals, Conservatives, Democrats, and Republicans...both parties are to blame.
@emantabrizi I will watch inside job, i hope its not one of those consipracy movies. this economic crisis, like all economic troubles have been caused b government.I am also quite sure you are right, that both parties contributed policies and both are to blame. That is why we must concetrate not on which party is to blame, but which ideas manifested by policies are to blame. If you do this, i am confident you will come to the same conclusion as me.government controls and regulations caused this
@emantabrizi I agree both party's are to blame but why did banks loan to people they knew would not be able to pay it back? are bank owners stupid?
California has tons of oil but no one can drill. Why? because of liberal regulations but this is across the board with business. Liberal policies are decimating the private sector- taxes and regulations and just the general atmosphere that if you are successful, you must pay. it sucks
@agnostaxian ... The banks sold those sub-prime mortgages to Wall Street investment firms like AIG and Lehmann Bros. Therefore, there was no longer any risk for those banks. Get the dvd. It goes into more detail than I could possibly do here. Yes, California has oil, and companies have been drilling there for over a hundred years. I'm not sure what you're talking about regarding liberal regulations preventing companies from drilling in California. Could you provide a source?
@emantabrizi i live in cali and know that many liberal politicians have stopped oil companies from drilling further or made it darn near impossible but i cant remember exactly when. i will try and look up the source for you.
Why did AIG and Lehmann bros. buy those sub-prime mortgages?
@agnostaxian Truth Hurts...and you can't hand the truth!!! Libs were NOT IN POWER Bush was when the GOP Great Depression No 2 hit the USA and the free world. Libs got Bin Laden and his top GOP, Er, Guys. Hypocrite "Gov" Perry took the federal stimulis money and made jobs and Texas is oil rich so God should get the credit not 'gov' Perry....and the Cali-GOP have thier GREEDY hands on the banks and corporate life here price gouging so much it is driving business away to Texas. Why? Why? Why?
@kdc43 Lib's were in power idiot in 2007 when they took over both house and senate. when did financial crisis hit? 2008. Also, who backed those "greedy" banks? What politicians said they were just fine just before they tanked? name them
@agnostaxian But KING George was in power long with his Corporate Cronies. But we had to many CONServaive Dem controlling the congress then and they side with the GOP. DEM party now is centrist to consevative is why we keep getting these CONS dems like Obama in office... what need is a 100% Lib Gov. that has not happened in 70 years! Geintner, McConnal, Boener,Cantor,King, Jackson, Walker backed those greedy banks.
@kdc43 Hey, kdc, are you in favor of the folks protesting Wall Street? Because your politics are straight up their alley. The American economy works best when the government enforces existing regulations, but otherwise gets "out of the way." Unless a person hates capitalism. Every socialist or communist government provides FEWER goods and services for its workers, not more, and that is why they have all either failed or are in trouble. I now include our economy in the socialist group.
@VrgniaMailman I'm in favor of OWS and the Tea Party (in the beginning anyway) protesting Wall Street and the Tea Party is conservative. The USA economy works best with RATIONAL regulations but otherwise gets out of the way. yep, yes sir,I agree. I love capitalism, but not the MIS-USE of it like the Right-Wingers(CONS DEMS included) been doing for 40 years. Saint Paul was a productive succesfull, productive tentmaker and he was a early socialist along with Jesus. The USA is FAR from socialist.
i dont think nor believe that Jesus was a socialist,as much as some people want to make it look like it and here is why he was NOT a socialist, according to Jesus and his preaching,YOU have to give up your belongings (gains profits etc) freely and willingly,in contrast what socialist want, which is you dont have nor get nor allowed to have any (material) gains in the first place,in addition,if you make any gains profits etc its been taken away from you,in order for all to be equal
@Hoschi0913 Yeah, and also in Jesus's time there was no capitalism. The rich people where mostly government officals, who did not earn or make their money but taxed it out of the general public.
i would say not true,as it was common way back then,if you had property (famrland) and couple cow's or cheep's(or whatever they had),perhaps even become a landlord to other farmers, you where considerd rich, some made it that way some made it due to trading, either way those guys where rich and aside of the tax they had to pay,no one else did force them to give up their riches, not even Jesus,he just "suggested" it might be better and thats all,he did not tell nor command to do it
@Hoschi0913 I mean yeah, there where farmers using land, and trading.Every economy has that.even communism.but farmers didn't own their land,it was permission, so its not exactly property.I am just wondering why would Jesus make the observation that rich people can't go to heaven.I think it is becuase back then majority of rich people where not producers, and most of rich people now are producers.
i think the "mistake" you make it to try to apply our "modern" thinking or our "knowledge",perhaps even the so called "human rights" that we have today, way back then, nobody knew nor thought of stuff like that, all they did know was the "world" their lived in,most likely the area up to 300 miles(perhaps) around their house and those rich guys did produce too, jobs that feed the family of the employee, thinging of ways to improve production etc etc, just like it is today...
One could use this approach to describe Americans in general, who are stuck between the same two parties over & over. Or any group that is unified in their beliefs really.
@SweetZombiJesus not really, its not having the same beliefs that makes someone a collectivist. it is which beliefs one holds. collectivism is very apparent in obama and his supporters. but really the reason i used borg is bc how the actors are all speaking at the same time and zooming out, it is the first think i thought off.
@avgleandt Except blindly following a goal when done by a group can only mean a lessening of the individual for the purpose of the group, thereby leaning towards collectivism :)
Either way, I see how you were partly inspired by the visual representation made here.
@EvilBunnytoez Who really gives a shit anyway? You know what else is like the Borg? Organized religion, mhm. So even if he wasn't a christian, it wouldn't really matter because all of those religions are a crock of shit anyway. Oh well.
You know Ayn Rand was broke late in life, right? She took social security benefits and got treated for her lung cancer at taxpayer expense. It's true. Sorry, libertarians. Your hero was a fraud. And an atheist. What do you think of that?
@xJoeEDangerouslyx so lame, heard this 1000 times, this was addressed back in Ayn's life time.First get your facts straight, she never went broke, left her estate to Leonard Peikoff. She did take social security and medicare despite being rich, which is perfectly justified. She was forced to pay into those programs,so taking them is just a way to recoup some of the money that was extorted from her.It is fine to take money from those programs as long as you paid for them and against there existence.
@xJoeEDangerouslyx Even if this were true (which, as already explained, it is not), isn't your point a bit too ad hominem to be a legitimate argument? Ayn Rand could have been a three-legged smog-breathing lizard with a tattoo of Marx on her underbelly, and it wouldn't make any difference. The source of any idea has no bearing on its validity.
@xJoeEDangerouslyx i am the reincarnation of jim morrison and i promise you homey i met ayn raynd reincarnated and left her crying on a city sidewalk on hallucinogens for kids like you who care about bein a boss and not some sham
That's Demi Moore saying, "I pledge to be a servant to our president," and Ashton Kutcher chiming in, "and all mankind." Wow, is that ever Creepy!
The last Republican budget year was FY2007. Then Democrats took over Congress. In FY2007, the federal deficit was $163 billion. Now it is 10 times that.
After 2.5 years of Obama (plus 2 years before that of Democrat control of Congress, including Sen. Obama), I wonder if Kutcher & Moore they feel like they've been "punked?" I sure do.
@ncdave4life ... Incorrect. The last Republican budget was fiscal year 2009. It's not based on which party has control of Congress. It's the party that is occupying the White House because it's the President who gives final approval to the federal budget. With that said, Bush's final budget had a $1.416 trillion deficit. Obama has increased the national debt by 16%, which still trails Presidents W. Bush, Clinton, H.W. Bush, and Reagan.
@emantabrizi, you are mistaken. Congress writes the budget, not the President. It originates in the U.S. House, and then goes to the Senate.
Article I of the Constitution requires, "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives." Since the budget inevitably includes tax provisions it must originate in the House. The President has little ability to influence it other than with his "bully pulpit," and the very blunt instrument ("nuclear option") of a veto threat.
The last Republican budget year was FY2007. In FY2007, the federal deficit was $163 billion. Then Democrats took over Congress. Now the deficit is about 10 times that.
After 2.5 years of Obama (plus 2 years before that of Democrat control of Congress, including Sen. Obama), the federal government is now spending about $1.75 for each dollar in tax revenue. That is unsustainable.
I wonder if Kutcher & Moore they feel like they've been "punked?" I sure do.
@ncdave4life ... No where in my post did I say the President writes the budget. So, I don't know why you're arguing a point I didn't even make. Of course, the budget is written by Congress, but then it's submitted to the President for his signature (a.k.a. "final approval"). The President can not only veto Congress' budget, but he can also send it back to Congress with his own budget proposals.
@emantabrizi, the reality is that whichever Party controls 2 out of 3 (House, Senate & White House) dominates the tax & budget process. FY2007 was a Republican budget year; every year since then has been Democrat-dominated.
1) The right wing believe that the government should be small and that the officials are there to protect them, not serve them. Sane Democrats believe that the officials are put there to serve them, not the other way around. Insane Obama zombies and Democratic actors believe that they are there to be served by the community
2) A large amount of the right wing are Christians, so where did Satanic come into the conversation?
Can Someone ask Barrack Obama if Orange Stronitum or terraburnium From Strogg in Quake IV is better than neo vibranium & space laconian from The Borg Universe! Do the Borg have anti-matter cannons with purple-black energy?
Demi really said, "To be a servant to our President"?
She's totally ignorant of what it means to be American - America has no king, no aristocracy, no ruling class. The President and all elected officials are servants of WE THE PEOPLE.
@JTTCOLO The President is a servant. Anyone in office is a "public servant." I don't think you even know English, or at least little of what it means to be in office. And what's worse, is your quickness to judge others, albeit, ignorant, yourself.
Sorry to sound like a hypocrite. Takes one to know one, perhaps.
you are futile you will start the take over resistance is futile you you you you you you you you you you you you you system malfunction overload of main computer...
i know nothing about politics and i think obama is a good president... if he's screwin everyone over hes doin it way over my mental capacity to comprehend
@piratebri I think with tea partiers its more a case of loving the constitution again and the restraits it places on government. Not quite the "I pledge to be a servant to our president" as these idiots have made. You could tell he was a charlatan before even getting into government cause he voted for the bailouts and TARP, then blamed Bush for getting the country in debt. Bush did do that but at the time obama agreed with him.
You know, I'm sure alot of those Tea Bagger idiots probably think this true. And that was great adding the lines from the Borg documentary from the Star Trek website :)
the republican nominee could run this and possibly secure a large percentage of the Trekie vote lol. if only it were that easy....

@DesX42S That is incorrect, both in socialism and fascism power is with people to elect officials.Difference is in socialism all property is publicly owned, while in fascism property is privately owned but the government directs how it is used.since in fascism just like socialism officials are elected by the people, effectively it turns out to be the same thing.public officials control how property is used or disposed off.
avgleandt 1 month ago
@avgleandt uhm, no, the definition of socialism is as follows: a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole. and fascism is a form of government led by a dictator who forcefully controls the country
DesX42S 1 month ago
@DesX42S your comparing economics to politics.Hitler for example was first elected democratically.then yes he became a dictator. "inherent aspect of fascist economies was economic dirigisme, meaning an economy where the government exerts strong directive influence, and effectively controls production and allocation of resources." economically they are not different, politically they can both be a dictatorship or democracy.
avgleandt 1 month ago
@avgleandt i fail to see how they're the same in any way, that includes economically, if i become the ruler of a fascist empire, i can make the economic system whatever I choose, regardless of the people's input, which is what socialism is all about, so i could make it communist, capitalist, whatever i choose, not what the people choose
DesX42S 1 month ago
@DesX42S you are describing a dictatorship, which is a political system.a dictator like you say can decide which economic system to have. fascism and socialism are similar economic systems because in both how property is used is not decided by the owner. in capitalism how property is used is decided by the owner.that is all i am saying.
avgleandt 1 month ago
@Maxokll
the German Nazi's or National Socialist Democratic Workers Party and the Russian Social Communist Party where only different in the name, both used the same "agenda or ideology if you will and of course where in different locations, other than that Stalin same as Hitler first did disarm their citizen and then went after anyone that was against them, they did hunt them down with their "state security" agency's and in some cases shot on sight

kdc43 4 months ago
@kdc43 All u said is BS- Liberals are the ones who wrecked the economy like they always do but fine, worship and be a servant to Obama liberal drone. I have grown up in cali and have listened to retards like u all my life. answer one question- why is texas the greatest job creator in the nation and Cali is hostile to businesses and always in debt killing and decimating the private sector? Why?
agnostaxian 4 months ago
@agnostaxian ... Texas is the number one job creator because they have enough oil revenues to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to lure companies away from states like California that are broke. Regarding who wrecked the economy in 2008, go buy a dvd called "Inside Job." It explains very clearly who is to blame. I have bad news for Liberals, Conservatives, Democrats, and Republicans...both parties are to blame.
emantabrizi 4 months ago
@emantabrizi I will watch inside job, i hope its not one of those consipracy movies. this economic crisis, like all economic troubles have been caused b government.I am also quite sure you are right, that both parties contributed policies and both are to blame. That is why we must concetrate not on which party is to blame, but which ideas manifested by policies are to blame. If you do this, i am confident you will come to the same conclusion as me.government controls and regulations caused this
avgleandt 4 months ago
@avgleandt ... Government controls and regulations? LOL, exactly the opposite. LACK of control and LACK of regulations. You'll see.
emantabrizi 4 months ago
@emantabrizi I agree both party's are to blame but why did banks loan to people they knew would not be able to pay it back? are bank owners stupid?
California has tons of oil but no one can drill. Why? because of liberal regulations but this is across the board with business. Liberal policies are decimating the private sector- taxes and regulations and just the general atmosphere that if you are successful, you must pay. it sucks
agnostaxian 4 months ago
@agnostaxian ... Could you provide a source?
emantabrizi 4 months ago
@emantabrizi i live in cali and know that many liberal politicians have stopped oil companies from drilling further or made it darn near impossible but i cant remember exactly when. i will try and look up the source for you.
Why did AIG and Lehmann bros. buy those sub-prime mortgages?
agnostaxian 4 months ago
@agnostaxian ... I can't explain it in a YouTube post with a 500-character limit. Get the dvd. You won't regret it.

Geintner, McConnal, Boener,Cantor,King, Jackson, Walker backed those greedy banks.
kdc43 3 months ago
@kdc43 Hey, kdc, are you in favor of the folks protesting Wall Street? Because your politics are straight up their alley. The American economy works best when the government enforces existing regulations, but otherwise gets "out of the way." Unless a person hates capitalism. Every socialist or communist government provides FEWER goods and services for its workers, not more, and that is why they have all either failed or are in trouble. I now include our economy in the socialist group.
VrgniaMailman 3 months ago
@VrgniaMailman I'm in favor of OWS and the Tea Party (in the beginning anyway) protesting Wall Street and the Tea Party is conservative. The USA economy works best with RATIONAL regulations but otherwise gets out of the way. yep, yes sir,I agree. I love capitalism, but not the MIS-USE of it like the Right-Wingers(CONS DEMS included) been doing for 40 years. Saint Paul was a productive succesfull, productive tentmaker and he was a early socialist along with Jesus. The USA is FAR from socialist.
kdc43 2 months ago
@kdc43
i dont think nor believe that Jesus was a socialist,as much as some people want to make it look like it and here is why he was NOT a socialist, according to Jesus and his preaching,YOU have to give up your belongings (gains profits etc) freely and willingly,in contrast what socialist want, which is you dont have nor get nor allowed to have any (material) gains in the first place,in addition,if you make any gains profits etc its been taken away from you,in order for all to be equal
Hoschi0913 2 months ago
@Hoschi0913 Yeah, and also in Jesus's time there was no capitalism. The rich people where mostly government officals, who did not earn or make their money but taxed it out of the general public.
.
avgleandt 1 month ago
@avgleandt
i would say not true,as it was common way back then,if you had property (famrland) and couple cow's or cheep's(or whatever they had),perhaps even become a landlord to other farmers, you where considerd rich, some made it that way some made it due to trading, either way those guys where rich and aside of the tax they had to pay,no one else did force them to give up their riches, not even Jesus,he just "suggested" it might be better and thats all,he did not tell nor command to do it
Hoschi0913 1 month ago
@Hoschi0913 I mean yeah, there where farmers using land, and trading.Every economy has that.even communism.but farmers didn't own their land,it was permission, so its not exactly property.I am just wondering why would Jesus make the observation that rich people can't go to heaven.I think it is becuase back then majority of rich people where not producers, and most of rich people now are producers.
avgleandt 1 month ago
@avgleandt
i think the "mistake" you make it to try to apply our "modern" thinking or our "knowledge",perhaps even the so called "human rights" that we have today, way back then, nobody knew nor thought of stuff like that, all they did know was the "world" their lived in,most likely the area up to 300 miles(perhaps) around their house and those rich guys did produce too, jobs that feed the family of the employee, thinging of ways to improve production etc etc, just like it is today...
Hoschi0913 1 month ago
@Hoschi0913 Well he was certainly NOT a greedy capitalist, that's for sure!!!

One could use this approach to describe Americans in general, who are stuck between the same two parties over & over. Or any group that is unified in their beliefs really.
SweetZombiJesus 4 months ago
@SweetZombiJesus not really, its not having the same beliefs that makes someone a collectivist. it is which beliefs one holds. collectivism is very apparent in obama and his supporters. but really the reason i used borg is bc how the actors are all speaking at the same time and zooming out, it is the first think i thought off.
avgleandt 4 months ago
@avgleandt It is having any common goal, where people follow blindly, that hearkens to the Borg mythology, so I will stick to my example ;)
SweetZombiJesus 4 months ago
@SweetZombiJesus following a goal blindly is not good, i agree. but that is different issue then the one i was pointing out.
avgleandt 4 months ago
@avgleandt Except blindly following a goal when done by a group can only mean a lessening of the individual for the purpose of the group, thereby leaning towards collectivism :)
Either way, I see how you were partly inspired by the visual representation made here.

xJoeEDangerouslyx 5 months ago
@xJoeEDangerouslyx so lame, heard this 1000 times, this was addressed back in Ayn's life time.First get your facts straight, she never went broke, left her estate to Leonard Peikoff. She did take social security and medicare despite being rich, which is perfectly justified. She was forced to pay into those programs,so taking them is just a way to recoup some of the money that was extorted from her.It is fine to take money from those programs as long as you paid for them and against there existence.
avgleandt 5 months ago 5
@xJoeEDangerouslyx Even if this were true (which, as already explained, it is not), isn't your point a bit too ad hominem to be a legitimate argument? Ayn Rand could have been a three-legged smog-breathing lizard with a tattoo of Marx on her underbelly, and it wouldn't make any difference. The source of any idea has no bearing on its validity.

Obama), I wonder if Kutcher & Moore they feel like they've been "punked?" I sure do.
ncdave4life 5 months ago 2
@ncdave4life ... Incorrect. The last Republican budget was fiscal year 2009. It's not based on which party has control of Congress. It's the party that is occupying the White House because it's the President who gives final approval to the federal budget. With that said, Bush's final budget had a $1.416 trillion deficit. Obama has increased the national debt by 16%, which still trails Presidents W. Bush, Clinton, H.W. Bush, and Reagan.
emantabrizi 4 months ago
@emantabrizi, you are mistaken. Congress writes the budget, not the President. It originates in the U.S. House, and then goes to the Senate.
Article I of the Constitution requires, "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives." Since the budget inevitably includes tax provisions it must originate in the House. The President has little ability to influence it other than with his "bully pulpit," and the very blunt instrument ("nuclear option") of a veto threat.
ncdave4life 4 months ago
The last Republican budget year was FY2007. In FY2007, the federal deficit was $163 billion. Then Democrats took over Congress. Now the deficit is about 10 times that.
After 2.5 years of Obama (plus 2 years before that of Democrat control of Congress, including Sen. Obama), the federal government is now spending about $1.75 for each dollar in tax revenue. That is unsustainable.
I wonder if Kutcher & Moore they feel like they've been "punked?" I sure do.
ncdave4life 4 months ago
@ncdave4life ... No where in my post did I say the President writes the budget. So, I don't know why you're arguing a point I didn't even make. Of course, the budget is written by Congress, but then it's submitted to the President for his signature (a.k.a. "final approval"). The President can not only veto Congress' budget, but he can also send it back to Congress with his own budget proposals.
emantabrizi 4 months ago
@emantabrizi, the reality is that whichever Party controls 2 out of 3 (House, Senate & White House) dominates the tax & budget process. FY2007 was a Republican budget year; every year since then has been Democrat-dominated.

@DanFrederiksen You are pretty uninformed.
