Smashing the hi hat bell while closed tightly,

followed by a hard whack on the snare rim (depending on the quality of drum)

Like a suspended 9th (or 2nd) without a third... In that section, the progession is I-V-vi-iii-IV-I-ii-vi-IV-IV-IV­-vi... The root (I) key is D major...
