I'm not sure about the 'better place' (religious debate would be a whole other issue) but I agree that the brain injury and drugs and stuff are what we should blame the insane abberation on. I'd actually throw religion in there too though. The bibles by the bodies make me think he could've rationalized the actions as sending them to a better place.

what I don't understand is - in a regular homicide trial, if the murderer is deemed insane, then he can get a verdict of innocent on terms of insanity. chris never had a trial. no one had a chance to prove if he was insane at the time of the murders. yet everyone accepts that he was of sound mind and body and murdered his wife and son before taking his own life.
there's also the stupid text msgs that anyone could have sent. the whole case screams reasonable doubt, but there was NEVER A TRIAL.

Besides the whole crazy/steriod issue, you gotta realize he sacrificed for this business. When he executes those flying headbutts, you lose an unbelievable amount of brain cells and receive trauma. He also missed Eddie, who was basically his blood brother for life. He wasn't the same after Eddie passed.
