The new CRTS tarifs are going to kick in soon, the cost of bandwidth will go up 1200%, this will make Canada the most expensive country on Earth for internet, harming everyone and businesses just for some over paid pigs to make more money.
Telecom is so much better in the states, where there's a wide range of companies to choose from. It's a great example of the free market working properly; Because of all their competitors, service providers keep their rates low.
It's true though, we get shafted at every opportunity when it comes to phone service in Canada. I'm with Telus, and though they've been my family's provider for over a decade now, I still feel that we pay more than we should most of the time.
This video is awesome! Hopefully this insanity ends soon, especially since some countries are investing in lines that are 100 times faster for the same price.
@plizak Funny, as all Telus offers us here is a 3-6mbits wireless connection limited to 10GBs/month at $60, $10/GB past the limit. Bell does the same, and we have no other options. There's cable if you happen to be lucky ebough to live 15 minutes away from where I live. And no, we don't live in the middle of the woods, we're on the main road, and Telus refuses to offer us other services or to make limits higher, arguing that according to their studies, people don't use more than 5GBs/month...
Why can't we (Canadians) have unlimited bandwidth like the USA.
Give us at least 200GB per month ... not the cheap 50GB or 75GB deals.
The fight is not just to get the Usage Based Billing off the third party ISPs like Teksavy.
I want ROGERS & BELL to stop the damn Bandwidth limits. if half million people and the government combined can't get rid of the UBB on Bell and Rogers .... then I have no hopes.
MAYBE 1000 people SHOULD FILE A CASE IN THE SUPREME COURT.
I think that part is the best. So reflects how we are being called heavy users and bandwidth hogs because we use the internet to a fuller potential its capable of, ahead of what the typical 'average' computer illiterate consumer is doing.
LOL! Looks like the Johnson Family should consid- THE CRTC WOULD LIKE TO ANNOUNCED THAT WE ARE CHARGING HARD WORKING CANADIANS TO USE THE INTERNET, PLEASE SEND BILL OF $40 FOR EVERY DAY USE. THANK YOU.
So true. Getting gouged by Bell is part of Canada's heritage. Perhaps it's time for change? Perhaps a CRTC who works for the people, not for Bell, Rogers & other telecom companies. One can only dream of a day Canada might have competition in the marketplace & the right to choose a provider who offers the best service for a fair price. One can dream.

Proud to say I have Telus for my home internet, and pay a whopping $50/month for 100 mbps download and unlimited data.
Solution is simple, tell Rogers and Bell to #$%@ off and go with someone else that does not use their last mile connection.
plizak 1 year ago
@plizak Very, very difficult to avoid Bell or Rogers on the last mile in Ontario. That Telus plan your on few locations unfortunately....
