Virtual RAM is slow, if you have over 2 GB of ram you should remove the paging file totally, it haves no use .. it's just far slower than normal physical RAM and if you have enough RAM (+2gb) you don't need this.

Not bad, but just so you know, applying the same values to your initial and maximum size helps reduce HD fragmentation slightly, as Windows no longer needs to re-size your page file.

Actually this is very useful, it speeded up my system a lot of and changed my subscore. if i had 5.1 subscore of memory operations in Windows Experience Index, then now when i changed the initial and maximum size of paging file size, then subscore is now 5.4 this is very very useful and now my system is much more faster. (i changed sizes from 3070MB to 8000 MB and this took only Hard drive memory but speeded up my system alot.) try it out.

It's only for emergencies, when Windows is really low on RAM. Even if you have tons of Virtual RAM, you'll still take a huge performance hit when you run out of system memory (regular RAM), as your HD isn't nearly as fast as your RAM (nanoseconds vs. hundredths of seconds in processing speed).

Just a Tip, if you set your page file correctly and have the hard drive speed to back it up, it can immensely improve your PC's performance. There is a reason why Page File's exist.

in changing the settings

Initial size is 768 and then to be change to 2000.

Maximum size is 1563 then to be change to 5000 but then error message appear and it says that "Enter a mximum page file size that is greater than or equal to the initial page file size, and less than 4096MB".

dont know now what to do. i really want 2 make my PC fast. please someone help. :)

32-bit operating systems can only recognize up to 3 GB of ram, even if you have 4 gb installed. to get your computer to recognize mroe ram, get either Windows XP or Vista 64-bit OS(XP 64-bit is alot faster, but on the other hand vista has slightly more compatibility)

Virtual RAM doesn't substitute for physical RAM, but expanding its usage will help a bit if you have the necessary RAM. Just open your computer, pull out your RAM, drive to an electronics store, and buy something with identical pins. Increasing your RAM will change your life dude.

Its probably spywere or sharing files slowing down your comp! Do you use limewire or frostwire? If so always stop sharing files after you download stuff. I only have 128mb of ram but my comp is quicker than most of my friends!

It was originally reccomended to do is 1 & half x your memory. Example: 1GB RAM - 1500mb (1.5GG) virtual memory.

But i find it's better making it twice your memory, give it a try.

ok heres how u really increase ur pc's performance go to start menu go to my computer right click and go to properties then there will be tabs on the top go to advanced go to performnace settings then a dialog box will pop up then there will be 4 radio buttons(circle ones)click adjust for best performance apply-ok it might ask to restart do it after ur pc will be 50% faster works great for counter strike source
