i so enjoyed this movie, had me in buckets of tears mind you.... showed the real unhappy side of the cast - great to see babs playing herself in final scenes!
Thank you, I saw it on TV and was looking for an example for a friend on my Facebook list. I posted this part. I don't know if it ever made it to DVD but thank you so much for uploading. Bless you xx
@Mousepie999 to be fair, he ended his diary in that way a few times, and discussed suicide even more. I personally don't think he did commit suicide. If he was going to have done that he would have taken a LOT more than he did. Plus I personally don't think he would have done it whilst his mother Louie was still alive.
Thank you for uploading this. I grew up with Carry on films and maybe that is why I'm like a moth to the flame whenever they are on or when looking through utube for any snippet of info I did not know about them and the wonderful actors and actress
fantastic I knew it was her at the end as soon as I saw her face crying now ty so much for this movie absolutely wonderful can't see thru me tears ta ever so much God Bless Sid and Kenny, all the love in the world to Babs xxxxxxxxxx
I wonder if 1 of the reasons Kenneth and Sid didnt get on was because them 2 were the lead roles fighting for position. Weird that babs liked both of them a lot and they didnt get on. i dont think ill see carry on films in the same way now after seeing this, great insight and thanks for the upload, very enjoyable.
Superb stuff, always wanted to see this. Perfect casting all round. Geoffery Hutchings is sublime. In various productions over has been Kenneth has been portrayed consummately by at least 3 actors, but definitive "sids" are very rare on the ground.
Great seeing this again - the last time was when it was first shown on TV. Would have loved seeing how the other main Carry On stars would have been portrayed - the ones for Babs, Sid (although a little curious about the accent), Joan Sims and Ken W (although looking a bit too tall) were practically spot-on. I agree with the comment that Adam Godley should have got a BAFTA for that, it was best I've seen.
Those were the last words Kenny Williams put in his diary in 1988, just before he took an overdose. By then he was in constant excrutiating pain from his back and stomach, his career was a sad parody of what it had been and his much loved mother was becoming senile. As other posters have pointed out, the cast of the Carry Ons, behind the bawdiness and laughs, were often very lonely, unhappy people.
I have watched all the Carry On films since I was a kid , and the portrayal of all the stars is a joy to watch.Much like the films themselves always funny and sometimes a little bit sad and serious, but always well acted. I am looking forward to seeing the drama about Hattie Jacques with Ruth Jones.
i know that a lot has been said about sid and kenny's hatred for each other but i do genuinely believe that even kenny had to have been upset when sid died
excellent, thank you

"Oh, whats the bloody point?" The last sentence in Kenneth Williams's diary, the night he committed suicide.

Lovely innit - all the better if you read Williams' diaries and then go back and watch this again.

Absolutely marvellous!
Thanks so much for uploading the entire drama, it's been a treat to watch.
The Carry On stars gave such wonderful to see them as the 'behind the scenes' individuals they were.
It makes me sad that some of the stars led such unhappy lives :-(
And I completely agree with Adam Godley's portrayal of Kenny. I hope that even Kenny himself would be proud of his portrayal.
Hopefully the Carry On's will never be forgotten.

Very good programme and the Kenny Williams actor is brilliant! Try out Fantabulosa if you haven't watched it yet. It's the life of Kenneth Wiliams.
