my fav verse:"...Don't get yoself caught up in this 'cuz this game'll give you a number an Snatch away yo NAME"!! Man than bring back memories of my brother man...
The question is, are they coming to Christ? ... or are they coming to a synthetic form of Christianity. We read in James 4:4, "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." This song is as worldly as can be, and is ;therefore, the enemy of God!
@dreimdmon: So, where do you draw the line? Is choir music of the world/devil? There's secular music like Madonna's Like a Prayer that has choir in it. Do you listen to choir music? Do you listen to gospel with drums? Satanic metal bands use drums. Instead of vaguely quoting scripture with your lack of discernment and w/your religiosity, you should lay the EXACT standard so we all can be clear (but if you do that your religious hypocrisy is shown). God made music, it's what it's used for.
@dreimdmon: To help you out a litte further. God made trees. They're good. But, if you cut a bat out of the tree and play baseball, u ain't doin anything wrong. But, if u use that bat and beat someone over the head, you sin. It's THE SAME BAT. Some things are amoral in and of themselves. When they came outta Egypt, they were pounding a drum and dancin (that's bass dude). Just cuz you're used to seeing folks misuse rap don't mean a Christian can't use it for good. Check yerself.
@dreimdmon Haha, worldly as can be? You point out a scripture about adultery, and post it on a video for a band who God truly works through. This group has been around since the early 90's. If there was even a speck of hypocrisy in them at all, it would've been exposed by now. We need more music like this in the world today, and less people with legalistic religious ideas like you.
Personaly I can't listen to these guys. first you can't be a Gospel Gangsta or a Thug for Christ. The word Gangster is negative it is what it is. You cant take a word and change the meaning of it. Look what happened to Tik Tok. He committed murder 3 years ago in Georgia. I know we can have issues and backslide but to the point where you gonna go kill someone?? It means he was not delivered from some things. And calling himself a Gangsta after salvation didnt help.
brah... words are merely sounds. How these sounds are understood defines it. For most i dont they interpret gangtaz in a webster fashion. Like even Nigga per se. Not justifying its use just making the point that you made need to expand your rigid view and fixation on a sound rather than the intended meaning. As a artist i realize often time when we tell stories though words art and music we usually express ideas relative to the world we know. Think about it.
I wasn't talking about a sound or music . I was talking about a meaning of a word. And you don't need a webster dictionary to know the meaning or origion of gangster . It's common sense. What you said has nothing to do with what i was talking about.
well I think the word Gangster is negative originally but nowadays the word "gangsta" is widely used and when you call some one a G or a Gangsta you are not just talkin about a Gangster anymore. Also, a "gang" isn't necessary a criminal organization, it's just a group of people who share a common identity.
but I do agree is the good works that show our faith.
This was the FIRST holy hip hop track I heard back in 1995 and it challenged me as a lukewarm christian to examine my faith in God and learn to be real with Him and let Him be real in my life.
Yes sir! I need to find this CD...again! lol I had the tape of this man, I grew up on this stuff. double G's went HARD back in the day when preachaz was kickin cats out of the church for rappin!
