  • I just CAN'T say drie correctly. I try to to that fancy with with the r and it sounds like dguhhhhhree, duuhhhree, dweee, duhweee...etc.

  • hahahahahaha Doet me denken aan een japaner uit een spel show (downtown Batsu Game), hij moest tot 100 tellen in het engels. xD

Leuk filmpje!

  • Lol I am watching this and I'm Dutch xD

I just think it's annoying that you pronounce vijftien like fijftien. Most people actually pronounce the V :). Nice lesson though!

  • Waarom kijk ik hierna? Nahja, goed gedaan hoor!

  • Awesome thanks for doing this

  • I think you are doing a great job! I have just started Dutch classes and I have subscribed to your channel...to find out ..that when I need you I have to subscribe again..searching for you...

  • kom jij uit nederland?

  • @TheYoutims ja.

  • Lmao we don't have to go to someone and pay him/her to learn dutch! WE HAVE YOUTUBE!

  • what about 0??

  • @barbabecca nul ;)

  • Why is number 1 sometimes written "één" but sometimes just "een"?

  • @PGHalmstadSweden There's an article 'een', and the number 'een'. To differentiate between the two, people use één for the number sometimes, but not always :)

  • @dutchforn00bs There is also a difference in the pronunciation. "Één" sounds like "ayn", "een" and "'n" sounds like English "an". They mean the both, as you know in Englsih the n of "an" is dropped before a spoken vowel, unlike in Dutch.

  • Is dutch related to german the sound similar

  • @muckeymousse Yes, they are related.

  • @muckeymousse that's because Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, German, and English are a part of the Germanic tribe. Actually, we always say that Dutch just sounds like a mix between Danish, English, and German. :)

  • @muckeymousse english is also related to german :)

  • @muckeymousse Dutch, German & English are the 3 main western Germanic languages

  • Nou, geweldig!!!! Het is geen vaiftien, maar vijftien

  • Oh, I'm sorry. It's just that the Germans call their country for Deutschland adn they "spreche Deutsch" So sorry. Messed it up!

  • Thats not German. I'm danish and have German in school... Where are you from?

Btw. it's spelled: eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben, acht, neun, zehn, elf, zwölf, dreizehn, vierzehn, fünfzehn, sechzehn, siebzehn, achtzehn, neunzehn, zwanzig

  • once I've said to a girl from Den Bosch that Dutch sounded like German and she almost ate me alive...

anyway thanks for the videos, they're very helpful!

  • @valfuindor Hahahaha We Dutch and the Germans have a bit of a history, our last conflict was in WW2 which caused a lot of tensions after the war and of course when the Dutch national team plays against Germany (Football, you call it soccer). Some advice; Never call something Dutch German to avoid conflicts

  • These videos are great! My Father was born in Zeist, and Opa was from Utrecht. I am from Australia. Oma and Opa didn't teach my father how to speak Dutch, and only spoke little bits to me, so I only understand a few words. Can you teach us how to put the numbers together for over twenty, like in a shop situation where we may be purchasing a bunch of items and then the shop keeper tells us the total required for payment??

    Thanks!

  • so sweet!

  • are your w's pronounced in german or english?

  • Hello! Your videos are extremely helpful, thank you! =)

I had a question though; when saying the date, some say "the thirteenth" instead of "thirteen," or like "first" instead of "one" or "second" instead of "two"... is there anything like that in Dutch? Thanks!

  • @SunerunAnimalCrazy We could say "het is de dertiende" (the thirteenth).. but saying "het is 13 juli" would be more common :)

  • @dutchforn00bs Thank you very much! ^_^

  • @dutchforn00bs that's true my english sucks but why learn dutch you only need in like 2 country's and most people here are stupid enough to think you don't know any better so just speak english when your here on a visit.

  • @SunerunAnimalCrazy One - één First - eerste Two - twee Second - Tweede Three - Drie Third - Derde Four - Vier Fourth - Vierde Five - Vijf Fifth - Vijfde Six - Zes Sixth - Zesde Seven - Zeven Seventh - Zevende Eight - Acht Eighth - Achtste Nine - Negen Ninth - Negende Ten - Tien Tenth - Tiende This is what you meant right? :)
  • @kimgodschalk Yes thank you! ^_^

  • thnx :D

  • Im Danish (-:

  • love your videos. My grandma is from neatherlands and icant understand her some tomes bur now. from a happy swedish guy!!

  • @monsieurayala I know! Just terrible, isn't it!

  • hi, I really like your videos... They are very useful for learning basic dutch words... I need to learn dutch because my boyfriend is from the Netherlands, we are getting marry next year and is really important that I learn the language. I hope you also have some videos about dutch culture, history or anything that is related to the Netherlands. :D

  • @deisi5 thank you! :) Where are you from? I do have some videos on Dutch culture, no history yet, though. :).

  • @dutchforn00bs I'm from Mexico, :) I saw your other videos and you are really good explaining everything. I told my fiance about the things I learned from the videos and he was surprise lol. :) hope to see some videos about history soon! :)

  • @deisi5 ohh, cool! speaking English will allow you to speak to nearly anyone here, btw! I understand you want to learn Dutch, though :)

As for the history.. I don't really know enough about it myself to make videos, I think!

  • hallo meisje, jij bent echt heel goed! :)

  • um i dont think you pronounced 11 and 12 right...my mom is from the netherlands and she says elif en twalif, but you dont say the 'i'. Maybe your pronouncing it the way it is said in Utrecht...

  • @Oranda88 I'm not originally from Utrecht. I'm definitely pronouncing it correctly, but adding an extra syllable to the words ' elf' and 'twaalf' isn't wrong either.

  • Holländska låter lustigt

  • good job girl =) love the way you teach, i'll travel to holland next month and this is very useful, thanks ;)

  • @grunchito cool! where are you going? :)

  • @dutchforn00bs im gonna be there one month, i have a friend in didam, i think i'll visit a lot of holland this time ... of course Amsterdam =) where are you?

  • @grunchito didam?

    I live in Utrecht :D

  • @dutchforn00bs Didam is a little village but after didam i'll be in Arnhem

  • You can see the similarities between the way you say them in english! I found that quite funny.

  • thanks alot :)

  • thanks alot :)

  • I have a question :) please answer me cuz I'm L.O.S.T. lol

in another video the man wuz saying " VIJF=VEIF" why??

  • @Ceentya hey :) The letters "IJ" are pronounced the same way as "EI" in Dutch :) So 'vijf' is pronounced the same way as 'veif'.. but "VIJF" is definitely the correct spelling of "FIVE", the other one isn't :D

  • @dutchforn00bs Thank u soo muchh :D

if I have other questions can I holla at u plz? cuz I really wanna learn dutch but I dont have teacher

  • @Ceentya Of course! Just post a comment of message or something, I reply to pretty much everything :)

  • hi thank you for the nice videos, how about helping us with # 21 to 100,000,000 ;-) dankje

  • I love your username! Dutch language = harder than taking a bra off with one hand for the first time.

  • @Beingaeterna hahahahahah :D:D nice comparison xD

  • Ha beautiful.... you can clearly see how it would be if u mixed English and German numbers, DUTCH^^

  • Yesss ,,,I watch this 2 time's ...And I can say a number of dutch... Thank you !! ^_^

  • are you dutch? ( :

  • @campalamp1212 why yes, I am :p

  • WAJO JIJ BENT SLIM

  • "elf" has to be my favourite number ever. I think I must have a situation in one of the stories I'm writing where there are 11 elves. (I don't mean the Keebler Elf kind, I mean like Elrond and Legolas)

  • I vier nothing, but I loved how you looked down to check the paper after één :)

It's 5.07, I am so fricking tired but I need to do this editing for tomorrow... my head hurts, says who? Zes I. Oh you dertien little...

    faved... now sleep... soon

  • but it's DIFFICULT after one! i never remember what comes after one either! ofcourse she had to look on the paper!

    <3

  • I am a tien elf with no vier lol

  • @MorthusProductions fight the power man, even twaalves like us will have our day!!!

    LOL

  • lol

  • i prolly couldnt do this without losing count.. xD

    awesome

  • I thought about these dutch lessons while watching avatar the other day i was like if he can learn that language in the course of a movie learning this should be a sinch

  • Ik herhaal mezelf, maar "Same difference as in English?" ^_^

Me FAIL ... =P

  • Hahahaha, sorry!!

  • The numbers 11 / 14 sound different than the numbers 21 / 24 or 31 / 34. That may be a bit odd to some people.

  • Same difference as in English?

  • Comment removed

  • Also, I don't wanna be a killjoy, but I'm pretty sure there is a difference between the pronunciation of the "f" and the "v"... :p

  • it's pretty small though, especially in "vijf"

  • In Dutch maybe, but not in Flemish. ^_^

  • I already changed the annotation. I agree that there IS a small difference, but it's by far not as apparent as in English - especially at the start of words. I'm sure no one would notice if I started pronouncing 'vis' like 'fis' for example xD (The difference between.. like.. oven and ofen is bigger, though.. that's why I changed it xD).

  • Yeah, I could argue that the difference is kinda huge, but it's just "e/u" thing all over again. Tomorrow I'll pronounce "vier" and you'll agree that depending on your pronunciation, the difference is kinda big.

I can see though, with your pronunciation, how you'd consider the difference to be negligible.

  • First.

  • @Lidespam Dammit! :P
