I just stumbled on to your videos and love this one. I am a cat owner and loved seeing your two dogs, one cat and the two kittens. You are doing a great job!!!
You know, I really love watching your snakes, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the curious cobra I thought he was the cutest thing I've ever seen! However, I thought it was really neat that you showed us your other animals. That was really sweet and special. That was an awesome thing saving those two kitties. Go Viper Keeper!
Speaking of starter snakes. What do you think about massaqua rattlesnake? I saw a little massaqua rattlesnake in Chicago zoo and fell in love. What a beautiful, peaceful, and graceful creature. Are they hard to keep?
Taipan questions... when you said didn't thaw them for her did you mean they weren't meant for HER? or you didn't actually wait until they finished defrosting? I assume/hope the first case.....don't you worry that they'll swallow the substrate and maybe get an impaction? her mouse had some stuck to it when she dragged it off......and lastly, maybe a water change there, Al for her???? lol
I am very careful not to give feed items that are not completely thawed out.
Do snakes magically avoid eating debri in the wild? Of course not. Do I worry about them eating some substrate, not at all. Why, I make sure they are hydrated.
yeah Al, this snake fear problem is among many of my friends and my work colegues...lol when i'm watching your vids from work, the girl behind me once said i'm a snake freak, how can i watch that kind of clips. See u can even cure ppl with ur vid, Congrats on that, im excited everytime i watch ur vids, a bit scared that u won't get bitten but rest it's fun and quite interesting.
P.S. Nice cats, mine plays with laser like crazy too...and is 7 years old lol
I suffer from Ophidiophobia (extreme fear of snakes). My therapist recommended that I watch your channel as part of my therapy. This intense fear started when a Black Kingsnake, 6 feet long was under my livingroom curtains. My cat alerted me that something was behind there. I about had a stroke that night, but the fear stayed.
I now see that all snakes are not "out to get me". Just wanted to say thank you for these educational videos! Before this I could not even look at a picture of a snake.
Spiders and tarantulas are very picky about what they leave in their webs , science is even trying developing spider silk to make silk for stitching up wounds to potentially help them heal without scarring! pretty cool! you should look up on google TannerShow you would be amazed what beauty and behavior lies in spiders maybe you would appreciate them, they are natrual pest control as well.
That pretty taipan makes me so jealous. I guess I won`t be so jealous if it bites you though:).
As for the red spitter, when I had my couple, I was always astounded by their feeding response. They are known to tear mice in half due to the strength of their pull.
Great video as always!
Hey show these kids some "Ottoman madness" once in a while!
no he doesnt, he gets his stuff from rodentpro which is a website specialized for frozen reptile food, sorry i answered this for u Al but u have a lot on your hands and i thought why not help out lol. great vid man, as always, loved it! good luck in the future! hope u stay safe!
fair enough :) I remember one day my sister got into the mouse cage, took out HEAPS and put them in a container, she was sitting in fron tof the snake's cage (small childrens python) and informed us that she was going to feed him (snake was only maybe 2 ft long, she ahd about 25 mice.....hmmm lol)
That Taipan was such a darling. So gentle taking the food from the forceps as well. Such surprising behavior. And so inquisitive. Half tempted to call it cute until the thing kills me. LOL.
Hey Al, great vid as always, the Tiapan is growing and looking great, WOW, I was astonished to see you using the short forceps with the taipan, I would have certainly thought you would have used the long ones for them, as quick and spastic as they usally are? I saw it looking past the pinky and I was saying NO, NOT THE HAND, PLEASE NOT THE HAND. You had me sweating bullets.Glad everything went ok, take care as always, Lee

That taipan reminds me of a coachwhip I kept as a kid. Can't really afford to get tagged by a taipan, though.... Cool snake.

Purps are always pissy - It seems they're probably one of the most dangerous snakes to work with.
And wtf....So you caught a wild cat?? -And I thought Botfly's were only abroad....didn't think they were found in the states.
