Aw President Reagan. Whether you were responsible for the joyous America of your presidency or not, you will always get credit for the positive feelings people have about those days.
@tjohn1986 lol, listen to that way you talk. You sound pretentious, you're an online tough guy.
I'm not going to address anything with you, I've been using youtube long enough to recognize a troll right from the jump off- and I'm also wise enough to know that no amount of logic or reason will ever sway a trolls mind, they're not in it for enlightenment, they seek only the attention they didn't receive from their daddies.
@tjohn1986 "read a book", what book would that be? one of glenn becks fairy tales, or newts fear spew? In case you didn't know, the real facts you would need to know wouldn't be in books, pre-assembled by someone with an agenda for people too stupid to think for themselves. Don't pretend you understand the complexity of what reagan did, you and I both know better.
thanks reagan, for reaganomics. Never before has a nation been so fucked to the melody of thunderous applause. The inspiration for every crooked gop sell out trash politician since.
@Polydynamix Inflation was 15% when Reagan came in. If it wasn't for Volcker and Reagan backing him, you would be pushing barrels of paper to get food. Try reading a book dipshit.
@tjohn1986 Try reading a book that wasn't written by some Reagan worshiping Right Wing Propaganda Spin Doctor.

"Reagan Administration Scandals"
"The presidency of Ronald Reagan in the United States was marked by multiple scandals, resulting in the investigation, indictment, or conviction of over 138 administration officials, the largest number for any US president"
@tjohn1986 Sure....be glad to.....You know he iniated Peace-Time deficit Spending. Never passed a balance budget, even durring the two years the Republicans had Congressional majority. Simply, Reagan preached a good fiscal message, but never practiced what he preached. I know, I was there....I voted for Reagan twice.
@peng1965a He got punked actually. He was promised cuts but he never got them. Sure he didn't all that he promised, but he did cut plenty of taxes. But it's not the fiscal policy but the monetary policy. If you were alive back then don't you not remember the 70s stagflation? Read some monetarism, read what Milton Friedman has wrote. There is no doubt in my mind if it weren't for Reagan and Volcker, US would have turned into a Weimar Republic.
@tjohn1986 I remember those days far too well, Like now, you almost couldn't BUY a job. I had just graduated from High School. You had to know someone just to get a job at Burger King. Interest rates were crazy high. I never said Reagan didn't ever do ANYTHING right. Also, you know the Reagan Administration started all the Bailout crap, right? Check out the 800-900 Billion Saving & Loan bailout. You're right about punked though, Reagan was far more a puppet than most care to believe.
@peng1965a Well I somewhat agree. I am not really a huge Reagan fan myself. But you have to get everything in context and look at it relatively. When compared to other Presidents before and after him, he did pretty well. And more importantly, he did more good than bad. But I have to correct you. The bailout crap started with Penn railroad and Lockheed in the 70s. Chrysler was bailed out by Carter. The savings and loan bailout was signed by HW not Reagan.
@tjohn1986 Yeah...Reagan wasn't all bad. But, I think he would have a shit hemorage if he could see where we are today with the 15 trillion debt. His policies paved the way for that. My biggest gripe with Reagan is he, along with H.W. and Clinton, ushered in the So-Called "Free Trade" era that has cost us millions of jobs and most of our industrial base. In my opinion, Free Trade and "outsourcing" is the root of all the problems we face.
Reagan was indirectly responsible for the Challenger disaster since NASA didn't want to disappoint him with further launch delays to check those faulty O rings which failed on launch. Reagan was the inspiration for.. SHODDY.
@ThePatcam We, of course, the problem was most of the Reagan administration but Reagan was in charge and he set their philosophy. Truly the Reagan administration was based on PRIDE but not the good kind. The over leaning over confident pride that is sin, the first sin and the worst sin and the sin from which all other sins come from. Yes you can blame the Reagan NEOCONS, but Reagan gave them power and influence. Read "the Forty Years War" for to understand that evil.
Reagan se tendría que haber puesto contento; ¡el Challenger produjo menos muertes que las armas que le vendió a Bin Laden y a los "Contras" de Nicaragua!
X1Orionx are you kidding me...administration most corrupt ever and he's the main reason for the Social and Wage Disparities we have in our Nation today...best president lol!
Gee AP just a repeat from last years post! Plenty of research went into this on! How about Henry the 8 th died on this day? How about Alan Alda was born on this day? How about the 1974 Brisbane Floods happen on this day? Narr couldn't be bothered to make it different or even further interesting!
@x1Orionx ....Reagan was a very likeable corporate puppet.
My guess is he would be having a shit hemorage is he could see where the policies he set in motion have gotten us to today. ........You know he initiated Peace-Time Deficit Spending, right?

Speaking about the Ron Paul advertisement on this brief clip: it runs like "Mister Smith wants to return to Washington."
If by chance he were to win, can you see the corporate toadies around him hemming and hawing, biding their time, drawing straws...?
I have to say, for a populist humanist, he has a lot more clarity than Jimmy Carter did.
