Blue BEll Knoll is my favorite album from them..saw them LIVE at NYC ROsaland...around the time this album was released?..anyone went to that show at Rosaland in NYC?...wow I was very young back them....many MOONS ago...
Liz is without a doubt the most amazing female singer I have ever heard. Growing up in the late 80's early 90's with the hair bands I would receive the look of wtf are you listening to in the car. As time passes, many of my friends finally caught on and it is not out of the ordinary to hear a Ct song played at a party. Thanks for the memories!
the best band ever ,i get goosebumps when i listen this heavenly ethereal sounds ,liz fraser is just an angel sent to earth to delight our ears and give us chills with her beautiful voice ,she is divine.
If a band could exspress the feeling of total hapiness or supreme beauty through music, this is how it sounds. Cocteau Twins have managed to do that for me w/ this song. I could literally listen to this song 10x's a day for the next 10 years and not get tired of it. Along w/"Lorelei" and the epic ,grand, important sound of "Akea Guinea", "A kissed out red float boat" is 1 of 3 of my all-time favorites from a one of a kind, original band. Cocteau Twins is a Religion and I am a believer!!!
Best band ever etc. Introduced to them by strange friend who later topped self in 1991, to strains of This Mortal Coil's "It will end in tears"...nonetheless...still loving the bittersweet and strange sounds. From NZ and did London thing and saw them at Royal Albert Hall I think 1995 or 1996, went on my own. Need I say more.
Now , this music has the " Nostagia " factor attached to it, which ,to me makes it that much more profound. Every -single -time I hear this music,I wonder how anyone could have conceived and actually made such WONDERFUL sounds. I can understand never trying to do another record after everything Cocteau Twins put out. Why bother. They should pat themselves on the back every day, for doing such great work. They should be soooo proud! Listen to it , driving
Nice. I clearly remember buying Heaven or Las Vegas on cassette when it came out in '91. In order to avoid any distraction, I drove all the way home before I would listen to it. When i finally popped it in, It was a monumental experience. I did the same with Four Calander... and Milk...Though awesome, It was nothing like what I experienced the 1st time listening to Heaven... Blue Bell Knoll is still my 2nd fav CT album. :)
wow, great song...and this is my first CT song to ever hear....I'm thinking the Cure Pictures of You at the beginning....then maybe a little Fleetwood Mac-ish Sara or Gypsy when she starts singing....good stuff
This is the sound of the feeling of how good a dream of flying feels. When everything else lets you down, it is reassuring to know you still have a kissed out red float boat and the aural beautiful soundscape Elizabethh Fraser creates. She is one of the finest artists this planet has ever seen and heard.
"he really don't care...he hardly there" This is the chorus. Sad. Liz's said once in an interview that her lyrics where to help her "cope" with Robin. Sometimes I think she sang to help herself through it. Liz, thanks, you taught me so much when we were young.
bluebell knoll is an album i keep coming back to, and just got it on vinyl! this is my favourite track by a mile, great vocal but i love the sonic soundscape from start to finish!
A fellow musician (friend) named Angel 11:11 introduced me to this tune in Culver City, California to give me an idea of sounds he was seeking on a project I would produce for him! Great tune!
I love randomly clicking on the Cocteau Twins videos, and discovering what beautiful cascade of sound will result. This one didn't disappoint, needless to say!
this music iz my heart!!! Liz iz the vooice of GOD!!! Thank u Robin and Simon as well. To see them live again would be a dream come true. Literally moved to tears of joy.
yeah, I came home late one night(around 94-95) and was channel surfing stumbling upon the song. And I was stunned to find out it was Baywatch! Then again, I remember seeing Suicidal Tendencies playing a gig in a Miami Vice epi.
@rokmole I think they did 7 or 8 releases. Go to Amazon.com and search for "Cocteau Twins." Best releases, in my opinion, were the albums Treasure, Blue Bell Knoll, Heaven or Las Vegas, Four Calendar Cafe and Milk & Kisses. The earlier ones were fantastic, but they hadn't yet evolved this angelic sound until right around the Treasure release. They're definitely my favorite band of all time - hope you do take the time to seek them out - totally worth it :)
I remember dancing with my best friend in her living room to this. The kind of joy in this song is one we had found after moving through profound grief. I adore this song.
OMG. I never thought I'd find this one in here. I had forgotten how this song made me cry from joy everytime I heard it, and it just did it again. My muses just dance and thwirl
was she happy or sad when she sang this?... sounds kinda happy to me.....or just somewhere in the middle....under the radar BIG TIME with this one............ I mean wow,.....her singing bounces and jumps words off of one another..
This is one of my CT favs...This whole album is unreal, then again so is all they're music. Love it! It would be a much cooler world if everyone had a fluffy chair and mood lighting with CT playing in the background ;)
This brings back so many great memories of my youth. Timeless. Classic. Beautiful.
