Thank God for the Dave Clark Five. They were front and center of the British Invasion of America in 1963-64 I don't think rock and roll would have survived the sixties w/o this high energy sound from over the pond.I distinctly remember hearing them before the Beatles or Rolling Stones.
Top 10 British Invasion singers: 1) John Lennon, Beatles 2) Paul Mccartney, Beatles 3) Mike Smith - DC5 4) Paul Jones, Manfred Mann 5) Cilla Black, solo 6) Colin Blunstone, Zombies 7) Mick Jagger, Rolling Stones 8) George Harrison, Beatles 9) Sandie Shaw, solo 10) Eric Burden
Because Dave Clark retains the publishing rights and doesn't release old albums of The DC5, many forgot just how big they were. Between 1964-1966 they were The Beatles biggest competators for popularity. I think there music of this time was just uplifting fun music that got you going. If you don't get a charge out of a song like "Anyway you want it" somethings wrong with you. Yes the Beatles evolved past them, but when they were good they were great!
What do you mean, they had no cords or cables attached to the instruments back then...sure they did. At least the bands I was in did. Hell, all of them did. What you're looking at on this vid is the entire band lip-syncing to a recording. Notice their lips are not in sync with this studio recording that is blaring out to the studio audience. None of those instruments are hooked up live...in this vid. Too funny.
ah, the great sixties high tech era when electronic instruments didn't need any cords or cables attached to them! Of note; don't recall any other group where they fronted the drummer and lead singer.

These guys were really good. I also like some of their later material, like Come Home.

Now why do they not make music like this any more? Children today wouldn't know good rock n roll if it bit them on the nose.

..that's because AM radio played songs that were mixed exactly for that type of speaker/setting etc.!!

@kurskss AMEAN BRO. I usually hate
the older stuff mixed today because it
doesnb't always sound right. Never heard
any other band get the Reverb sound they
did
