Hello - would the jumbo shaped GAD F212 make the same sound as this dreadnaught shaped one you play? The demos I've heard all sound much tighter like the Yamaha I own (which I am selling!) thanks.
I am currently playing a GAD F40 Valencia on stage. Three years of regular use and not one problem. Maple back and sides are much thinner, lighter; after two years I began to notice the depth of the guitar improving, mid & treble all Guild. I originally had a 1973 F 50 & F112 sunburst pair for performance. I am going to add the GAD F212e this month and get back to a Guild pair rather than the Ovation Custom Legends now retired after 20+ years of service.
Sounds pretty well balanced, considering, but I've played a couple of those Chinese "Guilds". Yes, they're less expensive, but they're a bit thin, lacking sometimes.
awesome playing.!!! I am now scouting , and studying ... for i want to purchase a new guitar ... never played before ... but i am positive ... still, i find it hard to decide which one would be the best , for me . ./// ( left hand side ... ) ... acoustic, and affordable price ... :) any suggestions? Thanks!
I have this in the regular spruce top look. But, I definitely like the antique sunburst better. The sound of this Guild 212 is second to none! I originally purchased a Yamaha 720, but returned it three days later and paid the extra to buy this one. NO REGRETS paying $900 Cdn. for all solid wood and a Fishmann pick-up with a tweed hard case.
Unless you have deep pockets to buy a Martin, Taylor or Gibson and even then, I would put this guitar up against those more expensive ones.
@therealsparkman right on man!!!! I know purist's will snub their nose at this guitar because it is made in china....but Fender when they bought out Guild, got all the original plans and specs, I think this guitar has the old sound, except it is new....so no hassles with warping top etc. etc. I know we can build instruments like this here, we need to some how make them affordable.
Thanks for a good review!
