  • yes we do. I'm giving away the t shirt from this concert on a contest vid. right now on my channel. LUVBUG

  • Man I had seen them 3 times in cincinnati where I was born. there live con were so great. Then later on I had a head injury , I thank it was 1984 man they doc told me I could be a vegtabal man it was so bad there so I hade a small cassette player I played Fight the good fight every day it ministered to my heart that tape gave me life that's the facts jack , Well latter on in 1995 I was playing my drums at a club in Cincinnati called the blue note cafe. Well Rick was playing there when he wa

  • i WAS THERE IN 83 STILL GET GOOSEBUMPS!!!! aWESOME!

  • WHAT ERRER/

  • I was 16 and there WOW what more can I say :)

  • Fight till u win....then fight till u lose....then fight till U win again!!!!

You might lose the fight....but NEVER . LOSE. YOUR. FIGHT !!!!!

BUT, always fight. for. what's. RIGHT !!!!!

This has gotta be the "free-est rock song ....ever!!!

    WoW !!!

  • @piggybunt There should be more bands with castrated choir boys on lead vocals then.

  • love this....the best vid of this song on the net

  • Hell Ya!!

  • Sorry, there is no comparison between Rick and Geddy. Rick has so much range it's ridiculous, Geddy has great range too, but his voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard. Musically they're so different it's not even fair to compare them.

  • I love this music. I do not care who is better. I have my favorites and though this band does not reach the top of my own private charts. it is still music that I love intensely. I remember the US festival. Too bad I did not go. I totally could have. Oh well, Triumph still rocks!!!.

  • I was at that show in St. Louis in 83 and it was awesome!! Also to Alliancelane, yeah I would think Rush is better considering they've have a hundred more hits and musically they are better too!! Rush sits only behind the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and U2 with the most consecutive platinum albums in a row!! Rush rules!!! But Triumph was great!!

  • I remember motley crue knocking on the doors of popularity, I thought back then " no real talent, and too much screaming " I finally found my brainwashed feet walking my way to see the crue, It's true, triumph is better,.but Rush is even better than triumph, in so many aspects.

  • thanks for sharing. very nice

  • RAW TALENT! I had tickets back in '83 in St. Louis...ended up eating them...one of the few I regret as I look back.

  • They were at their best this day and then after this stellar performance America just abandons them and lets them fall to the wayside. Meanwhile puke talent like Crue (who absolutely sucked at US83) rose to the top. Vince can only dream of the live vocal skills Rik is using here. High notes like the recording (maybe better). Yep, as usual only the few recognize the true masters of the craft.

  • @The1WhoKnowsTheTruth Excellant post! Guys where great and this performance is stellar!

  • Very few bands sound as good live as their recordings and these guys hit a home run on this day!

  • Eddie Trunk, pls add Rik, Gil et al to the TMS guest list requests....

  • If anyone has any other bootlegs from this day, they can see how awesome this set was. I am a HUGE Van Halen fan, but Triumph was so clean and on their game, it was a better set. Rik Emmett is a demigod

  • @speccycoont This was NOT bootleg...if that is what you are saying...

  • holy crap, that drummer is boss

  • rik is the man rock on rik emmett love ya!!! brother

  • Rik Emmett = Angel of Rock

Dave Mustaine = Demon of Thrash

    Nuff said

  • YOU GOTTA LOVE THE ROLLS ON THAT KIT..AMAZING

  • this guys got it all...no matter if its the jazz changes.....classical....blues...the standards...rock or fusion Rik Emmett has got it.....and always has...a very gifted and underated musician....Rik the Rocket is STILL playing his ass off...

  • Very unrated! Bad Ass Band! Rik Badness!

  • They killed it

  • Holy Shit! Kick ass live! This band was so under rated it makes me sick!

  • @papadoza I agree bro. Rik was SO ON this day - when most bands of that day( Van Halen and Mogtley Crue) were off or not their best - being wasted and all. Triumph ALWAYS killed live and I think this is ttheir best short set ever. Rik was a God, il on drums was great too. see "when the lights go down" from this show. Every tune was tight as hell. I always ask can you name a lead rock guitarist better than this guy who also sings like an angel at the same time. I rarely get a good answer :)

  • 4:30 to 4:50 is just unworldy. Rik is amazing!!!

  • @kalsadeq61 more like a raw talent from heaven!

  • That solo is awesome!!

  • i fukN <3 trIUMPH...NEVER surrender&Fight the gd fiGht!!!Rock On homies... /m/

  • these guys knew exactly how to throw a rock n roll party.,..never disapointed and always gave

    us our moneys-worth.

  • @TheMagicpower66 Always was their strength bro. While Van Halen was lucky to give u a clean show 1/2 the time, Triumph was always tight as hell. They were amazing at this show and up staged the bigger names easy (ozzy, crue and VH). What lead guitarist plays this good AND sings like this at the same time?

  • @aitraining Not only that but how many bands have two lead singers who also play instruments at the same time! I was there at the US Festival too and I agree with all of your posts completely about how Triumph absolutely killed everyone that day. I get so tired of the Van Halen fans who get pissed when you mention how bad they were as the headliner. Triumph never cheated their fans. They always gave a great show. That's a lesson most musicians fail to understand.

  • @govrom12 Dont have a say in this as I wasnt there but lets be honest it would be hard for alot of bands to top this performance. Ive been to lots of concerts and after watching a few of these clips from this show Id have to say all who attended should be tickled to have been there. One of the best live performances Ive heard in a long long time. Kids today have no idea how far the music industry as fallen.

  • Rik is a fucking boss, look how he casually blows everyones minds. Another epic trio!

  • @goodolarchie SO true bro. Name a lead guitarist who played like this and sang like this LIVE. No one man!

  • WOW 4:28 HELL FUCKING FREEZES OVER.. THAT GAVE ME CHILLS FOR LIKE 2 MINUTES

  • The best make it look so easy.

  • Supernatural

  • LOVE this!!!!

  • Rik Emmett, raw talent from HELL, I love the man, beautiful vocals, great guitar riffs.

  • @kalsadeq61

And he had a lovely feathered hairdo

  • Do you see on the last lead how fast ric right is going and so clean too wow.

  • @Menyhard1 Yes! Rik is the man! Pure guitar appreciates know Rik, but the too many Eddie Van Halen marks look past Rik, Emmett was amazing and LIVE!

  • You, know, after reading all these comments, especially about comparing this guitarist against that one, it really is a pretty stupid situation. I prefer to look at this way. The ones that are really superstars in their bands are superstars because they fit within that band structure. I have often wondered why Rik Emmet didn't join Rush, as that would probably made Rush probably the best of all time. Rik stayed with Triumph, he has found his niche, therefore, his place in rock history.

  • Emmett is not that technically great compared to the talent of the day. He's a good rock guitarist though. Technical-wise, you would have to listen to jazz, metal and classical guitarists. Gilmour is great because he never over-plays, always has the perfect tone for the given song and always seems to play the perfect note at just the right time. knopfler is better technically than Emmett.

  • What? your comparing Rick Emmett to Gilmour?.....Wait.......(ten minutes later).....OK, I'm done laughing. Emmet is a good guitarist for what he does. Triumph was kind of straight up, they did not have the technical ablity of Rush and they certainlly did not have the melodic imagination of Floyd. Pink Floyd and Gilmour's guitar playing is recognizable to even non musicians, you know, the record buying public?.

  • @brianmann01 Gilmour is not technically in the same world as Emmett. And i Listened to Floyd my whole life. :) and Emmett is lead singing while he is doing this. Please name a better lead guitarist AND lead singer who can do this LIVE. I'm listening...

  • Comment removed

  • @NailgunDeath Well let's forget the pure Jazz guys. This type of debate is always personal for what we like. But IMO - For Hand speed, Switching, style versatility and voice (all at the same time) and to do it live - I'll take Rik over Gilmour and Knoffler. But like I said everyone's opinion varies. Footnote: I love Gilmour and Knoffler.

  • @aitraining That would be an exercise in futility. I listen to music on a deep level. I want to go on a journey when I hear it. Rick Emmett takes me to the other side of my living room, Floyd takes me to the Cosmos. The other fact is that the music wears out fast with Triumph. I cannot listen to it over and over again. BTO is like that as well. There is no spiritual connection with Triumph. They strung chords together, said "yea, that sounds good, lets go with it".

  • @brianmann01 yeah, i enjoy triumph but you're right, floyd transcends music.

  • @cyberwaffles Love Flotd bro, but for pure guitar skill and lead vocals and live....Rik Emmett ruled dude. Roger was the heart and soul of Floyd and when he left Floyd was a stadium light show band. Gilmour can't touch Emmett live. Name me a lead string guy and who sings like this guy....live. No one

  • @aitraining david gilmour has more soul in one cord than any musician has in a entire song. no contest....

  • @aitraining Roger waters was the heart and soul of Floyd?! Put the crack pipe down. Gilmour is Pink Floyd. Not taking anything away from Rik, he's a good rock guitarist and he can sing really high notes but he's not really a ground breaking guitarist..

  • @NailgunDeath Lok - I love Link Floyd and David Gilmour but I don't know if ur a "Pink Floyd the Wall" fan but Roger conceptualized and wrote almost every word of that album - Dark Side too, So those 2 albums don't exist without Roger. What happened to PF after Roger left. "Learning to fly"? please.... Gilmour was a follower. Listen to Rik Emmett here - a leader.. and who technically blows Gilmour out of the water. Rik is classicly trained, fast as hell and sings like an Angel...and LIVE!

  • @cyberwaffles Love Floyd bro. Just debating Rik vs. Gilmour. To me, Roger was the heart and soul of PF. When he left, Pink Floyd was a total stadium light show shallow band. Back on subject - David Gilmoir - as cool as he is, is not near Rik Emmett - very few are dude. This is a lead guitarist, singing lead like an angel and live in front of 500,000 people - name me someone who can do this better?

  • @aitrainins says....."you need to expand your musical knowledge before making dumb ass comments"........Look in the mirror dude. Commercial success and talent are two very different things. Example: Kiss vs Badfinger........or Triumph vs Pink Floyd. Put the bag of weed down, and listen to the music wneh you aren't high.

  • @Mr123456789esm yeah have some booze, cause no one ever did ne-thing stupid while drunk lmao

  • Comparing Pink Floyd to Triumph is an insult..............to Triumph!!!!!!! Gilmour is not worthy of washing Rik Emmett's ass.

  • @Mr123456789esm Totally agree! David Gilmour is not in Rik's league. And I LOVE Pink Floyd but please....Tell the doubters to just look up rock n roll machine at the US Festival 83' and see Rik's 5 min solo. Epic stuff oh and the guy sings like an angel at the same time. Rik can do classical, jazz, rock and was THE fastest guitarist ever IMO. Yes - you Eddie Van Halen "marks", he is way faster than EVH.

  • Pink Floyd is not a rock band!!!!

  • Cmon folks...Gilmour is a very good guitar player...Floyd kicks ass....etc...But.....

Emmett is a world class guitarist.....one of the best and most underrated of all time. Fist time i ever saw him was at this concert. From that day i was in awe. he made all the other guitarists that day look ordinary. After seeing and hearing that, I quickly became a Triumph fan...and to this day, I still go too see Emmett up close and personal on the Pub scene. Just amazing!!

  • Warren Haynes? By the way I love Triumph. Rik is one of many under rated rock artists.

  • Name a better leader combo guitarist. singer than this guy. Please.... Rik could Rush Live by himself......

  • @aitraining ...Your FN crazy...Rik is good, but you need to expand your musical knowledge before making dumb ass comments...by the way...what's Rik up to these day? Pub circuit? yeah...that's what I thought.

  • @libsRturds Rik teaches musical business at a college in toronto. dont be a dick, dick.

  • @RuthlessRipReaper ...And what does that have to do with anything? Or did he quit touring to teach music classes?

  • I love Rush and Triumph...this is my era...but you dudes are out of your fn minds. Two different styles working here, plus you say Rush seems like robots....well yeah, when your playing keyboards with your hands, synths with your feet, lead vocals and bridge over to bass without missing time...you tend to have to stay in one spot. I won't even get into what Peart brings in. Don't want to offend...just standing up for my boys. Was going to catch Triumph on tour but...ooops, where are they?

  • Triumph killed at the US Festival. Rik was sick good!

  • Come on guys! One more World Dominating Tour for the fans!!! I was born in 1991 and Never got the chance to see a Triumph concert. JUST ONE MORE!!!!

  • YEP....THAT'S THE GOOD STUFF..........OH YEAH

  • didnt have a great deal of good songs!? you have got to be shittin me! saw them 4 times and they were fucking great every show! How many songs do you need to be great! The critics can kiss my ass! TRIUMPH is one of the best bands from back in the day HANDS DOWN!

  • @MultiChunker I know the critics bashed the hell out of them because they thought they were a RUSH wannabe group and that their light shows were over the top, but if they were that bad why did they have sellout shows all over North America. I saw them at this concert, at three other venues across the US, and once in Toronto. They were awesome everytime and I never left any of their concerts disappointed. So many other bands didn't give a rat's behind and gave bad concerts, but not Triumph!

  • @govrom12 I agree bro. I saw Rush (who I love) and Triumph in concert and Triumph was by far better live.... Rush were robots. Rik Always wailed live. THE best lead guitarist and lead singer in rock history. Yes I just said that - name a better lead guitarist who played this good AND sang like this guy? ...and live???

  • @aitraining Agree, I'm hardpressed to name a guitarist that had the vocal command and guitar slinging skills of Rik. Hendrix mumbled and had a shallow vocal range. Most other good singer frontmen were bassists. Frampton comes to mind, but he didn't have the energy Rik does.. Steve Marriot was on another vocal plane but wasn't much of a guitarist.

  • @goodolarchie Well said buddy. Good props to Frampton but Emmett would slaughter the guy. Jimi too. Rik was the king of live!

  • @goodolarchie Try David Gilmour...

  • @libsRturds u actually think Gilmour is better than Emmett? ur kidding.....

  • @aitraining ..Triumph was great ...for a two hit wonder....But where triumph was great...Pink Floyd is LEGENDARY. Sorry to hurt your feelings. K

  • @libsRturds Not a two hit wonder, but I listen to music that I love. I couldn't care less what the rest of the world thinks about the bands I appreciate. I'd rather listen to Triumph than Floyd, but that's just my personal feelings; not right, not wrong, just the truth.

  • @govrom12 Agreed! Rush were Zombies compared to Triumph Live!

  • @MultiChunker Amen dude! Triumph was the best band I ever saw live! Rik Rules....

  • Back in the DAY....haha. A lot of metal guys gave Rik a lot of shit. Thought he was too prissy or something? I never thought so. I never got why so many rockers/metalurgists hated this guy. Maybe jealous? Granted Triumph didn't have a great deal of good songs...but the good ones surpassed many of the songs of the day. I thought they were great and sorry...out of the 500 or so concerts I've been to - Triumph wasn't one! Argh!

  • Super cool voice.

    This song is rocking awesome.

  • Excellent Performance

  • Was 15 when I was there, so awesome !

  • Inspirational song of the day. I was only 16 when The US Festival took place in Southern California.

  • I have a DVD copy of this concert that I purchased from HMV a couple of years ago. I have been a fan of this band since 1978.

  • god i have never seen these videos...you had to see these guys in concert to see them...video was a luxury...lol...but idid see them ...yay....sa,tx Rocks!

  • I'm glad no one has had the poor judgement to dislike this video or song. It was an amazing band.

  • To all of you who got to be here at this show.. I eny you. I was 5 at this time. Rik is a god on this set. Sad music will never be this good again

  • These guys were awesome. Saw them in the Bay area and also in San Diego plus I also saw them at this concert. It was hot as hell that day back in 1983 but these guys stole the show along with the Scorpions. A very professional band that gave the fans more than their money's worth.

  • I am Canadian and heard a good Canadian joke that made me fall over: How do you get 50 Canadians out of a swimming pool ? Tell them "please get out of the pool"

  • isso sim e rock do bom

  • Yep I agree and thats tough duty considering all the great bands there

  • @skynrrdd Yeah. It was a wierd show. Bands had to fly in late or sit around. But while bands like Crue, VH and Ozzy chose to get wasted and perform like shit (VH was awful and I love them), Triumph flew to California from Florida, didn't even do a good sound check, Gil is using some elses drums and put on this set. It sucks that most of their tunes from the show r taken down from time to time (copyright shit) here but i c magic power here but Amzazon has an AMAZING DVD of Triumph at US.

  • @aitraining

Yes, those dopes took down the best sounding recording of this concert. The ONLY reason why I bought their cd. After that sh*t, I have no problem using music in audio and video format for unlawful purposes. F*CK THE RECORDING INDUSTRY EXECUTIVE HACKS.

  • Triumph f'n killed at this show. Best and tightest band of the weekend. Rik was outrageously good.
