I was at first surprised at the speed, but I enjoy this interpretation. It seems appropriate for what you are trying to convey. It reminds me of sentimentality, of things that once were enjoyed but are now lost. Maybe someone at the end of his life where things haven't turned out the way he wanted.
At any rate, I just discovered your channel and am enjoying it!
I think that lots of people have different interpretations of this piece of music, or any piece of music really. And just because this is the interpretation of the composer, it doesn't mean it's right.
the tempo marking says,"ma non andante" this means, but not too much andante - or in other words - not too slow. Therefore your tempo needs to begin and stay agitato.
Are you sure? I've checked 3 sheet musics of this piece, and all of them said the tempo should be "Un poco agitato, ma andante." (no "non" before "andante"), which means you should play it a bit excitedly but slowly. But yeah, this performance was even slower than andante, sounded like adagio. In my opinion, this tempo is acceptable while not "agitato" enough.
you alter too much the tempo, a master performance is the one that gets to express the feeling of the piece but through dynamic and without abusing the ritenutos....
I,m playing this tonight on ending concert :) i adore this composition, but i think your tempo is too slow,i play it much faster, and original tempo is faster, but i like the slow version cause it has more emotions, and i can here all notes :)
I like the tempo, try voicing the top melody more. Practice this by depressing the arpeggio notes without sounding them. while doing this, play the melody in the right hand. you will notice the melody come alive. and not entangled with the accompanying left hand notes at the top of the arpeggios.
wonderfull

I don't like the tempo, it's too slow - loses all the romance and just sounds tiring.

So beautiful.
Felix Mendelssohn is my favorite composer. Though I'm used to a slower tempi for this song, I think you did a very good job.

i like the continuity and the flow
but the the tempo is bit too slow
When the melody comes in everytime i think it should be a bit more piano so it would have more effects of phrasing
Also the part with all the chords they all seem separate because you need to put emphsise on the first beats and soften the accompanying note
Also it may just be the camera but i think the keys are being pushed not carefully sunk so becareful on that.
Wonderful though only one of 2 put on youtube
