  • yeah! joe you keep fighting the good fight brother. i wish i would have been there with you the day of filming at the dam, i would have leveled that guy that blocked the camera and tried to hamper your filming that day.

    PEACE!!

  • So sad, hope you all got it sorted.

  • Play thier game back on em. Start a tree planting program along your river of beaver perferred species. Then import the hell out of some beavers. Then when they try to remove the beavers cry out that these are rare Northeastern subspecies that need federal protection then get you about a billion from the feds to hire federal rangers to guard your beavers who will natural re-impound your creek/river.

  • I wonder if the proponents of dam busting are just whacky liberals jumping on to the idea based on the anti dam groups from out west where you have running species like salmon. They outlawed gold dredging in CA because of false acusations of bad for the fish. It was proven that dredgers actualy created more spawning by loosening the bottom creating gavel beds while removing heavy metals from the past like mercury lead etc. and had no negative effect.

  • I hope you can save the dam I will do all I can to help.

  • Fuck you dam busters you can kiss my ass so bring it on bitch!

  • i catch musky in alum creek

  • i love fishing and i love watching you fish . save the dames .

  • i love fishing and i love watching you fish . the should never take out a dam luky for me where i fish dosnt have a dam its atached to lake erie.

  • They are going to blow up the dam at the Stillwater River here in OH and it is going to ruin the best fishing spot in the world for my family and everyone else that fishes there... We are going to make the most of it before they blow it up this fall.

  • @hobgoblinhobo313

Make the best of it by making a video. Find others that feel the same way as you and get their opinions on film. There are too many of us here in Ohio that aren't being heard. You owe it to your best fishing spot.

  • is it just me or is teh big text sometimes blurry, almost too blurry to read...i have a slight headache...i hope its not just me ...lol...

  • i live in va but that is dumb to remove the dam in my lake dam is the 1 of the best spot

  • thanks you idiots for destroying another river that god gave us to enjoy i havent ever fished this river but i feel for those who have fished and enjoyed this river let me know what i can do joe to help

  • @dick6269

  • thanks you idiots for detroying another river that god gave us to enjoy i havent ever fished this river but i feel for those who have fished and enjoyed this river let me know what i can do joe to help

  • Joe,

    excuse my language

But that is a load of bullshit. What do they get out of doing that?

  • joe did they evere take the dam out or is it still there

  • @xfiles1952

They continue to threaten to take the dam out and destroy the fishery. With God's grace it is still in place. Poor children ride their bikes to this dam because it's one of the few places in the area where they stand a chance of catching a few fish. When they destroy the dam the angling community and future fishermen loose the most. The community is robbed to pay to for it. When I was a kid after school this is where I rode my bike to from the poor neighborhood where I grew up.

  • Let me know if theres anything i can do, i live in nebraska but I'll do what I can

  • Hi Joe, this video really hurt me. My sister lives right across the road from the Olentangy on 23. I dont visit and fish often but have in the past and had caught some nice bass. I was wondering how many dams there are and how many more are they

taking out? I live over in Champaign County so my fishing takes place more locally, like the Mad River and the Brown Resevoir in Springfield. I, so enjoy your videos.

    Steve

  • @steveohio120

This dam is still in place but, the northern section of the River near Delaware is a shadow of what it was. It could support resident populations of fish above the dams, now it has transient populations of small fish. Tactics used to take the dams out were covert. Dollars diverted from the sale of fishing licenses and fines for dumping sewage went to organizations of a few people who paid for news media to push propaganda and lies. We the anglers lost. Thanks for the support.

  • this is sa

  • even though i'm from denmark i know this all to well i've lost lots of fishing ground and i have alomst no more places to fish wich i hate because i love to fish

  • I agree with you Joe, im a rapper, but at the same time, I love to go fishing, and destroying dams like this video decreases the sport of fishing and the breeding of fishing, hope you stop the destruction of these events.

  • go joe

  • look at the bottom of the bridge where the water used to be

  • Amen Joe. As long as you fight for freedom I will ride with you.

  • right on

  • tree hugers did that dams are the best fishing

  • dam removers are ass holes

  • hmm if they're not using your tax dollars in the right way, then simply draw up a petition not to pay taxes. it's one of the most strongest thing you can do as a whole. those messing with the system and turning this corporate america into a fascist state don't deserve our tax money.

  • man i use to go to this lake called eisenhower and caught some nice fish had fun but someones been dropping dropper net and took all the fish and i havent seen 1 person catch a fish in months i miss fishing the bluegills i usta catch hundreds a day!

  • this white guy Joe knows what he's talkin' bout

  • these people who did this are real idiots im upset

  • DOWN HERE IN KY,YOU GUYS HAVE MY VOTE,LOOKS TO ME THEY NEED ASS WHIPPING.,SAD AND SHAMEFUL

  • Yeah man i know how yiz feel. in wrightstown, pa, there was a big resivior controlled by a lock/dam type thing, any way, my township comes over and drains the whole thing, killing literaly thousands of largemouth, panfish, crappy, and cats. close to 10,000 fish lay on the banks, swallowing muddy water to a slow death.

i fished that my whole life, i grew up on that place.

  • joe you are right on

  • @gopher0

Please sign on to my website. Click the tab that says save the Olentangy River. Send a short statement to the Mayor of Columbus telling him to save the 5th Avenue Dam.

    Thank you

    Fishnwithjoe

  • joe was about to bust some ass

  • @philly442

Please tell your friends about the video and to sign on to the site and write a short letter to the Mayor of Columbus telling him to save the 5th Avenue dam and our fishing spot.

    Thanks

    Fishnwithjoe

  • I had no idea thanks. Im pissed

  • I do not live there but i will try to wright a letter becuase if we can stop your area then we have less of a chance of happening in my area and i hope that your dam and the fish stay so people can sill enjoy what they have to offer

  • Please sign on to my site. Click the tab that says save the Olentangy and send the Mayor of Columbus a message saying save the dam. If he is going to Ok spending millions to destroy our dam in these bad economic times he'll have to do it against the will of the people. Every letter will help. Tell your friends and thanks for watching.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • Thank you for bringing this out! I had no idea.

  • digital collective do u mean raritan river nj and joe it would be bad even if they saved the dams but didnt stop pollution theres a place by me in nj called overpeck creek its filthy its so bad that if you eat fish from there regularly u increase ur chance of cancer by 500 times till the govt stepped in and put a stop to the dumping my prayers are with u good luck joe rabidfishermen17

  • Never heard of this river. I live in Tuscarawas county Ohio. The Dover Dam can NEVER be taken down without building another one. If it were taken down half the city would be under water after a long storm season. Or after it snows and melts come Spring.

  • Excellent insight to a local problem i didn't know existed.

geehestop if you are an angler this should matter to you ; it could be one of your spots down the road. Keep up all you are doing Joe !

    Rob - New Albany

  • yep I'm an angler I fished neshaminy creek for a while now And I had a dream of losing my fishing licscene and losing a spot would even worse sorry for my stupid joking behavior I wish I could help this problem

  • Comment removed

  • The goal of these groups are to remove all dams. Every fishing spot is precious. Perhaps one day if the spots you cherish are being destroyed you'll feel differently. I hope that day never happens to you.

    Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • ok your probaly right I would feel different sorry man I cherish alot of spots I was just trying to be silly

  • sorry man I was just being a jerk

  • It's ok. We just want to save our spots. You havnt had that happen yet. Perhaps we can stop them before it does. Help us by writing a letter to the mayor. Every letter counts.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • ok thanks.....why are they trying to tear the dams down then......thats messed up

  • if they remove all dams wont the water levels rise and the population to,

    just asking

  • Water levels will drop and the amount of fish like largemouth, crappie and catfish will decrease if they remove the dam because there wont be enough water to support them. It's happened twice in Delaware, Ohio on the Olentangy with disasterous results. We cant repeat that mistake again.

  • Ya know joe, i watch all your videos over and over because, well, your just great fun to watch, but i had always overlooked this particular video. This is powerful stuff. I was just wondering if you had to be an OH citizen to protest this?

  • No need to be an Ohio citizen. Our Mayor needs to know that people all over the Country and the World are watching. Please send the letter. Every letter helps.

Thank you so much for watching the show. I really, really appreciate it. I just want to save our fishing spots.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • Amen!

  • You know what Joe,

This is a great Video, and I agree With all that you say here! most people think that taking away the dam will help but, on the contrary it destroys the mini ecosystem that has built up making it harder for fish to react to such a change! and making dams is going green you guys, it doesn't leave CO2 in the air! it might be an eye sore but the fish love it!

  • Yesterday one of the big proponents of destroying this dam threatned to sue me if I released the rest of the video showing all the fish I caught in the pool above this dam. He & other institutions have lied to the public saying there are no fish above this dam. My new video proves it's one of the best public fisheries in Columbus, Ohio. This dam was originally built for recreational use among other reasons. Please sign on to my site & send a letter to the mayor to help save our fishing spot.

  • I would send a letter Joe, but I'm a Canadian and I don't think they'd listen to me, but good luck with stopping the dam from getting destroyed!

  • great

  • This is bullcrap Joe, it upsets me when they ruin wildlife habitat! Woods & waters need protected. Glad you made this video and I'm writing a letter to the mayor.

  • Joe, it's late Feb 09 when I saw this. I'll be making a visdeo in late April obout 1 of our lakes here that I worked to save, and we got it done. I hope since this ame out that you got good news, got what you all needed. I'm petitioning the State to build a new lake here in Ross county. It might be about 10,000 acres when done. If you have my phone and you still need help, give me a call.

  • Is this the dam that you caught the muskie here? if you did they wreked almost all the fishing.

  • The Muskie was caught about 30 miles away from this area but, youre right. They are determined to wreck our fishing mostly because they care nothing about it. Sign on to my site and send a letter to the Mayor to help us save our fishing spot.

    Thanks

    Joe

  • was that nice smallmouth and the " Dont hate the spinnerbait" video shot there? cuz im goin to send a letter to ur mayor. i dont live in ohio though but i tink thats just terrible that they said it would help the fishing

  • exactly, and if people aree so concerned for fish migration, put in fish ladders and fish elevators

  • hey love the vids i live about 5 miles from lake Vesuvius and me and my buddys used to fish these 2 little ponds right around from my house and they both were awesome rarely fished and had very good sized fish in them then the state bought the land and shut them down not a dam but still the same problem i pay for a license to fish but they keep taking peoples favorite fisheries away

  • Your right vonfink1. It seems as if we pay more and more for a license and we have fewer and fewer places to fish.

  • they Added those dams for a specific reason several years ago. So everything around it Has adapted to "THAT" Environment. then they remove them ?? that ruins all the habitat surrounding it. the shallower water prevents the surrounding plants and animals to fight for there survival. What reason did they even give for removing these dams ??

  • On Thursday when I asked the guy who proposed the dam removal why, he said it was cheaper to remove the 5th Avenue Dam than any of the others. AdeptAngling sign on to my site and send the Mayor a letter. Every letter counts.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • joe there doing it to my raritan river and delaware.wait till lamprey run upstream too far...they build something called a 'fishladder' well it killed my smallmouth bass but im having a different problem im having outlandishly sized catfish eating everyhting im talking 3 to 5 footers...i havent hooked any nice bass either.if theirs anything i can do like sign a petition ill do it.

  • Please,

Send the letter. Click the banner on my homepage to go to my site. Click the tab that says save the Olentangy and write the Mayor of Columbus a letter letting him know this is a mistake.

    Thank you very much.

    Fishnwithjoe

  • I live in dublin ohio near the scioto and could never imagine this happening to it. good luck !

  • I was in shock to find out those supporting removing the 5th Avenue dam say that reservoirs and dams restrict natural flow. I thought hold up O'shaunessy, Griggs, Hoover, Delaware and Alum Creek are all reservoirs in Central Ohio. Those places are on their destructive wish list as well. We've got to stop them. Sign on to my site and send the Mayor of Columbus a letter. We've got to take a stand.

  • I agree with you Joe.

  • Way to stand for what ie rite Joe,my prayers are with you,

    Billy.

  • Thanks Billy

There are lots more videos and information to come.

  • good luck joe!

  • Hopefully more dams can be saved from these neo nazis. Luckily The destruction of that dam can be used as an example and will be a good tool to protect more dams.

    Happy Fishing

  • good vid, save the dam poeple.

  • how can i join the fight???

  • 1calman1,

First step is to send a letter to Mayor Coleman saying save our fishing spot, save the 5th Avenue Dam. Tell him what you think and how we are being treated, let him know that we as anglers oppose this. His address is on my site.

Second step is to email and send this video to everyone you know who wants to help.

Step three is most important. I'll be organizing a meeting of anglers. Watch my site for the announcement.

    We can save the dam!

  • That's right, communist liberal bastards try to fuck over sportsman however they can....ban guns, tear down dams, increase licenses....pricks! I say save the dams, so one day Joe's kids might have some good fishing too.

  • put the vid up, Joe..and yea, dams are the shit....local interests never include the anglers wishes..... Good luck dude

  • OhioOutdoorsman19

Its sad. You should see the comments the Busters said about this video on the Ohiogamefishing site under the thread titled

"Alum Creek Lowhead # 2 in process of removal"

The busters said and I quote

"The second guy appears to be someone who pulls up to the dam, throws a worm on the bottom and thinks its the only place in C-bus to fish, then leaves behind his bait containers and beer cans"

They talk about us like we are trash and call us ignorant. Just take a look.

  • Passing the word on local forums of Ohio.

I hope that area is saved!!!

    Good Luck

    Jonny

  • im with you joe

  • Good video Joe, we are with you, you can beat them, email to the mayor is on its way.

  • i know what you mean. we almost had that same problem with the staunton river.

  • I support your video on the dam situation in Ohio Joe...I know for we have a big dam and little dam on the vermillion river in Pontiac Illinois and I tell yu I cant even imagine no dams there. I caught my 7 pound largemouth at the big dam and many 2 and 3 pound smallies too. Its not right ...BBBH from Illinois

  • very true, when you're taking a dam away, your not only lowering the river/lake level you are also killing fish our nature that is where they live down at the base of the damn at a tree swipped on the side of the damn, not only that when the water drops you still have water spots along the bank's and what is in that water? MINNOWS hundreds of them thats killing hundreds of fish. fish need a place to run to go to swim up stream and spawn but cant do it if the river level is down to half a foot.

  • You've got my support as well. Good video and keep up the fight.

  • Joe you have my support, this is wrong. I have seen what dam removal did at rt. 36/37 and you can ride a bike across it. This is not just stop great fishing spots, it stopping intercity fishing, and kids are the future we spend our hard earned money on fishing licenses. This is not allowed to happened, the beginning of the video is fact enough!

    Dave

  • JOE that's some deep stuff. I from Ohio i did not Know they doing things like that. You sound like you have the right thing to do. Everybody get together and stand up. Small people like us get f!@# all the time. Thanks a lot, I will favorite this video myself.

  • I agree a hundred percent this is happening also near me they are demolishing a canal near my are about 30 minutes away and i love watching u fish. Man our world is messed up and ur right this act is a dumb one. KEEP IT UP JOE

  • I would hate for the dams to be removed and the water would just be a trickle. I hope the don't remove the dodridge dam also! That is where I do most of my fishing. Keep it up Joe I agree totally!

  • If you spend time below the Dodridge dam this will effect your fishing as well. The 5th Avenue dam supports the huge pool that many of the fish live in that travel upstream to Dodridge street. Thanks for the support please tell everyone you know to send the Mayor an email saying save the dam. His email address is on my site.

    Thanks again.

    Joe Jordan

  • what a shame -good luck in saving the river and remaining dams.got to get the word out round there-good way to start *****

  • joe i feel your pain man good luck up there. i hope it turns out well in the end

  • very cool there is a lot of truth to this

  • We have lost so many of our good fishing spots on the Olentangy River its so sad. They are diverting EPA fine money paid for dumping sewage into the river to special interest projects to destroy our dams. I just hope enough people see the truth and they let the Mayor of Columbus, Ohio know this is wrong to save our fishery.

Thank you for all the support.

    Joe Jordan

  • Very Cool Joe!! :)

  • i thought you were gona have to kick some ass in the begining

  • Sounds like you have a fight on your hands and hope you win as i whould love to have a dam on my river as big cats spawn there and so many fish move in to and around the dam as we have a dam on a creek and its good fishing!
