My parents always refused fluoride treatment when going to the dentist. I never quite understood the reasoning behind this to the extent that I do now. I switched dentists, and they gave me a fluoride treatment, thought nothing of it, until STAINS started appearing on my teeth! They took two months to totally disappear, and from then on I refused to have it put in my mouth. Had to change dentists when that one mocked me for informing him.
The point is, even is Fluoride was actually great for your teach, you can go to the dentist and get your teeth actually worked on. There's no reason to drink it, shower in it, wash your cars with it, or cook with it... Would you cook with toothpaste? No...

@Tactic11 What about in the long run? I've had flouridated water for the last 12 years or so and at this rate I'll have it all my life. These 'small amounts' in the water add up. I think its very possible that ingesting small amounts of poison over a long time could be negative to your health. Kind of like smoking cigarettes(which is probably much worse).

Flouride is garbage. We don't need it. It's been proven through many studies with control groups unexposed to flouride (and most importantly not exposed to processed foods) had better teeth than those exposed to it. In fact, one such control group didn't even brush their teeth at all (cultural reasons), but had perfect teeth with no cavities. Mankind does not need unnatural lab chemicals for any part of our bodies to stay healthy. A diet of fresh foods & clean water is all we need.

My parents always refused fluoride treatment when going to the dentist. I never quite understood the reasoning behind this to the extent that I do now. I switched dentists, and they gave me a fluoride treatment, thought nothing of it, until STAINS started appearing on my teeth! They took two months to totally disappear, and from then on I refused to have it put in my mouth. Had to change dentists when that one mocked me for informing him.

@Tactic11 What about in the long run? I've had flouridated water for the last 12 years or so and at this rate I'll have it all my life. These 'small amounts' in the water add up. I think its very possible that ingesting small amounts of poison over a long time could be negative to your health. Kind of like smoking cigarettes(which is probably much worse).

Every study conclusion says fluoride will not harm you with the miniscule doses in the water. And anyways, fluoride is often naturally occurring in water sources, so you get fluoride from that as well.

@unreal672003 Caffeine can kill you in the right dose, nicotine is an extremely potent poison (much more so than fluoride), you don't see people dying left and right from nicotine poisoning. Water will kill you if you drink too much of it. All those trace 'poisons' (ie heavy metals) in the water will kill you too I guess.

Flouride is garbage. We don't need it. It's been proven through many studies with control groups unexposed to flouride (and most importantly not exposed to processed foods) had better teeth than those exposed to it. In fact, one such control group didn't even brush their teeth at all (cultural reasons), but had perfect teeth with no cavities. Mankind does not need unnatural lab chemicals for any part of our bodies to stay healthy. A diet of fresh foods & clean water is all we need.
