I am always amazed when I see people criticize Natalia for her lack of artistry. While she definitely has good technique, her amazing appeal lies in the energy and life she brings to the stage. She has a humanity in her roles that many dancers have trouble finding, especially in classical ballets. Watch the video of her debut in La Bayadere- her power and passion in Act II show a depth to her acting unexpected in such a spritely dancer. Natalia will be known as THE dancer of our generation.
I think a large element of Osipova's appeal is her raw energy. Sometimes it seems this needs to be contained, particularly for a role like Giselle, however I can image that live in a theatre this creates a very intense performance; although not one that carries brilliantly on film.
I really love her beautiful port de bras...incredibly soft hands and arms....her upper body is amazing while doing the most difficult steps....all I can say is WOW...the critics....you are fully entitled to your opinion while your heads remain fully engaged in your anuses.
while osipova has improved technique wise to me that is what her dancing is all about. she seems to only think about how she is going to execute a step and from the performances i've seen of her she does'nt seem to act very much plus her hands have gotten worse.
Her GISELLE debut with abt was one of indescribable power. On my way out of the MET, we overheard 3, 7yr. old girls saying "I want to dance like her when I grow up". I smiled.

She jumps like a man, and I mean that in a good way. Her hang time is NBA worthy...I've never seen a woman who can jump like that!
