  • Not just SRV, there is a lot of Hendrix going on too.

  • not pretty legs

  • Yeah!

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT THAT STRATOCASTER IMMEDIATELY MAKES ME CUM. SO BEAUTIFUL, THOSE INLAYS, THE MODIFIED TUNERS, THAT THIN FAST NECK

  • Awesome sound ! I'm obsessed with Strat's and SRV at the moment. Any info on yr modified strat ???

  • Very good man, you play like Stevie Ray Vaughan.

  • now thatsssssssssssssssssss rock!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow-STINGING!!!!!! Nice work.

  • lets give everybody a stratocaster....it still wont produce licks by itself ...good vid...

  • damn that's all i can say .... :P

  • damn... that's alla i can say xD

  • Those are some short shorts

  • What are you doing smoking crack- slow the fuck down it will sound better

  • amazing dude!

  • sweet guitar

  • Wow! You are phenomenal! Holy shit. Keep it up.

  • 36 jealous morons -

Excellent playing and very heady stuff for such a young cat - keep it up

  • Awesome !

  • u r cool men!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good!!!!!

  • Nice angus young shorts :)

  • looks like your ready to go out in the world emulating all your heros.. the problem is your playing lacks musicality. I like your technical prowess, but you need to hit notes that will reach people, and bring them in...or you might as well give up as a performer...but you certainly will impress you friends, esp if they aren't musicians. Your setup is all noise BTW. Look into a simple amplifier and plugging your guitar in it without any 'candy'. Look into an old fender musicmaster guitar..

  • i think this is fake as hell

  • thats fake watch his picking hand

  • @spacemonkey12346789 yeah this is fake as shit

  • wut gage strings do u use?

  • had to laugh.. your licks, or those youve learned from Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn... and Chuck Berry? I think the latter rather than the former.... you do have good command of the pentatonic minor scale... and your sound is good.... very "Stevie Ray Vaughn "ish" good job regardless... just remember... its not how many notes you play... its how many you DONT play....

  • @lvrxplt397 yeah, less is more

  • very good - sounds like something form a 70s flashback. during an episode of the midnight special tv show.

  • mordern hendrix

  • Am I the only one to notice that the video speed has been increased to make the licks sound faster than they have been played?

  • ur way good but pay closer attention to dynamics and phrasing

  • was man alles mmit einer Gitarre anstellen kann! HAMMA!!!!!!!

  • I can tell you are a SRV fan, excellent playing.

  • naaah ur awesome i can´t do stuffs like thaaaaattt !!!

  • not bad - only criticism i would point out is the use of the wah pedal ...its the same old tired flaw that i see millions of people make. The wah is not a metronome, please do not use it as one...it is an accent piece - something to add color to what is being played

  • Nice tone!

  • Smokin stuff Joe.

Been playing coming up on 36 years I can play those licks but they won't sound like you.

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

  • are you wearing lycra? eeeew

  • nice tone!!!!!

  • holy SHIT!!

  • dude your amazing!

  • at 0:08 I already understood that you are a good player, then by watching the video I had the proof!

    Very very very nice performance!

  • yep....thats real nice

  • i just pitched a tent

  • o great another pentatonic shredder!

  • Dude, can I have your autograph?

  • the first lick was definitely stevie ray vaughn. and all of the rest were very reminiscent of his style and whatnot. very very good :D i liked it lots.

  • Comment removed

  • holy motherfucking shit you're good

  • thought i heard SRV in de earlier intro?

  • Pretty good shit.

  • wats a lick?

    cuz im lost

    *tears*

  • I think a lick is like a riff or a guitar trick

  • its a mini mini small little solo add to verses listen to hendrix ur learn quick

  • A lick is like "a short solo" somwhere in a song. A riff on the other hand is usually based on chords and is usually repeated several times throughout the song. :) For example the classic smoke on the water riff. :P

  • good licks dude!

  • dont really like this genre but nice playing and it looks kinda fun!

  • xD had to put down my volume! you can play very hard

  • Nice licks bro. You got tone too. Good job

  • What an extremely dumb comment

  • make it double dumb... music isn't all about playing which one is hard... it can be a factor though but the first thing you gotta have is the PASSION.. although some might prefer calling them feelings XD

  • coooooooooool, I loved it, thanks!!

  • lucky bastard look at all that eqipment and a stratocastor. damn.

  • @metal4life160 fuck the gear and gat , honest , i just want his brain to hand coordination and playing abillity lol nice playing joe !!

  • pretty sweet!

  • ohhhh the benefits of having all the money to spend on equipment..... great playing man.... trying to convince the wifey that after playing mine for 14 yrs its worth buying... will use this vid thanks man atleast now i can prove blues and funk arent dead

  • how the hell did you get that tone its awesome

  • you must really like the wah wah sounds from Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

I love that. You are awesom at that stuff.

  • sick inlays

  • I dig how you jam on the wah! That's so cool...

  • Do you have any vids on youtube? I like this guys style but if you're going to sit there and make a statement like that, where's your vids?

  • Nice playing, but could you show me your personal style if you got.? That sound was created by SRV. Show some new stuff!

  • How the hell did you... get so awesome...

  • thatsss sicck.

how long have you been playing?

You're amazing. I'm a srv fan, and i've been playing for a couple years, but i deff dont have it all as clean as you.

  • yYah I'm sure you're SOOOO much better right? LOL

  • ahem

  • now, dont be cocky. i think your great.

  • nice! keep on jammin´ =)

  • As for the "very basic" comment: Very Basic For Advanced SRV Players.

  • I've been playing for a long time and these are some the best SRV riffs I've heard on here. I watch this video a lot for inspiration. ROCK ON!

  • thats dirty!!!!

  • do you go to glasgow middle school?

  • lol, joe here is like a junior or senior in high school

  • I recorded this video when I was a Sophomore. Im a Senior right now though and about to graduate.

As for "Gasgow Middle School"... I seriously doubt it... because I live in Alaska. LOL

  • Great sound, great licks, 5 stars from me and well deserved..

  • U would make SRV proud..

  • you make stevie proud

  • bamf

  • nice job, man...sounds good...those definitely were some hot guitar licks!

     Keep it up!

  • Great sounding tone. The pods are excellent pieces of equipment. Most people would be suprised to know how many recordings are made with a pod plugged directly into the board not to mention all the people who are using them in front of their favorite tube amps. Good luck to you in your future music endeavors. Dont let negative people or their comments bother you. Play for yourself and rock on.

  • He has been playing sence he was 7 years old. And loves SRV, i Know this guy

  • SICK! You have that SRV feel. Very nice.

  • nice sound and great chops

  • beautiful sound

  • Really nice playing there! :)

People should know that you can't get the same tone as someone else just because you share the same settings or gear. It's in your fingers!

  • Good point!

Too many people ask about the pedal settings, but they are ignorant of the fact that it's not about that.

  • oh... god!! ^o^

  • that was amazing!!!!

  • that pod thingy...is like playing with girly magazines... comes a time in every guitar mans life when nothing else would do but the real thing....

  • I love you man! Dude, how old are you?

  • Voodoo Child-ish I'd say... >.>

  • Joe - Great sound and you have the SRV signature licks. I have found your website, and put your settings into my POD, but the sound is different from yours. Please don't reply about string size and playing... Can you give us details of how you set up your POD and equipment to get that sound? Thanks!

  • i like the funky part

  • WOW can you send me the tabs?

  • play that guitar!!!

  • ur slap sound is so funky.. what pedal r u using if u r.. or is it a marshal amp?

  • wow its like the next srv!!!!!!!!

  • John mayer a lil? .. lol .. good job!

  • more like Stevie Ray.

  • at 00:30, he plays an exact riff which John Mayer does live (seen on youtube!) thats why i suggested he might have possibly been inspired by him ;)

  • True

  • You play great man. Just get yourself a real amp. Get rid of that digital crap and get yourself an old pre CBS Fender amp. You deserve it. Go on, treat yourself right. ;)

  • dude...that was frickin good..very impressed

  • man you have the total control of the guitar!!

  • i would buy your cd ;-)

  • very nice.....enjoyed that and thanks for showing the neck and picking style during the video........

    ......quick question for you..

do you use heavier gauge strings and detune standard tuning down a half a step like SRV used to do?............Or do you use a light gauge with regular standard tuning?

Thanks in advance and keep those blues alive!

  • I will now try for the next two weeks to decipher this mad and amazing lick session lol unless you can save me massive bother and create a tab for it which would be the best thing that had ever happened.

  • Well learning how to decipher blazing licks is a VERY useful tool for any guitar player. Its even WAY easier when there is a video. Before I discovered YouTube, I had to decipher all of SRV's licks from just albums without any video!!! But its gotten to the point now where I can hear something, and translate it almost note for note on the guitar. I really don't have time (nor do I know how) to make a tab and put it on YouTube or something, so I recommend just toughing it out. Its good for you.

  • thanks but I will tough it out but im still in the stage where I need tabs to make sense of things which I then use to decipher the video lol so nvm thanks anyhow

  • force yourself to do it by ear. The first time is the hardest but most fruitful. You're never not good enough to do it.

  • There are software you can use to slow down the audio without the pitch going down. Try using a software called Transcribe so slow it down...

If you're like me, you fell off your chair the first time you saw that video. It took me time but I deciphered pretty much everything using that software.

Nowadays, I can pretty much do it just by hearing and seeing videos on youtube but it really helped me.

    Hope it helps you.

    Keep up the playin

  • ill pay you a million dollars to teach me how to play like that.
