  • The pledge of allegiance before 1954:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of American, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

"Under God" was unconstitutionally added, by the same movement that successfully got "In God we Trust" added to our money, in 1958.

Christians who seek to rewrite history and the very purpose of our Constitution are arrogant enemies of this nation. They should hang their heads in shame.

  • It seems to me that the best solution in this case would be a compromise: reinstate the pledge of allegiance (as that is more patriotism focused anyway), but still keep the invocation absent (as that is specifically a government endorsement of religion, and seems to be unconstitutional).

  • BORING

  • i say we get the ORIGINAL pledge of allegiance, the one without the "under god" statement in it

  • lol, she thinks it is legal to say a prayer at a meeting in which PUBLIC officials do whatever govt stuff they do. read the first ammendment. the govt is not allowed to endorse any religion.

  • Pray to god that commands to KILL women who are not virgins on their wedding nights?

Pray to that same god that commands us to KILL our disobedient children: KILL gays? KILL people for working on Sabbath??

  • @Velvetroomdj Yes, pray to the invisible man in the sky. Like the great man said - "God is a concept by which we measure our pain"

  • This phony "patriot" is breaking the law by insisting on a prayer at a public meeting. Listen up, you holy roller: not all of us are christians, and the Constitution is on *our* side, should you care to read the First Amendment! I'm am sick to death of these right-wing extremist nutbars ignoring our founding documents for their own benefit: they are *traitors* to the American ideal and if they keep it up there *will be* a second civil war! Why don't you knuckle-draggers just secede?

  • the clerk does NOT deserve national news coverage.

  • Why can't political debate be logical? What Judge Lacy did is not liberal, and even if it was, such attention is not warranted by so trivial a matter. This woman is no hero, she has acted irrationally and her actions are not praise worthy. She is not making a grand stand for American values, she is simply picking a fight to promote her politics. Freedom is an American value that is protected by separation of church and state, and the judge protected the local government from being sued.

  • @mjm412010 "What Judge Lacy did is not liberal, and even if it was, such attention is not warranted by so trivial a matter."

You think it trivial that a slimy Xtian judge violates the constitution by having a prayer and then orders his County Clerk to commit perjury and cover it up? ARE YOU NUTS!!!

  • @mjh012363 The Prayer was said before the meeting had begun. I do not believe it was appropriate, but it was not part of the actual meeting. With this in mind, I do not think the judge asked the clerk to commit perjury; he asked her minutes to reflect the official meeting while leaving out what they did before the meeting was called to order. The clerk is a firebrand conservative that argues for the founding fathers without understanding how they established the country, so she put pray in mins.

  • @mjh012363 The judge and the commissioners court said otherwise, and the clerk who took the minutes is under investigation. I live in Bowie county and have followed this case since it first broke. check minutes for may 23, the minutes being argued over. The court has changed policy since then. Anyways, my original argument is that the clerk does deserve national news coverage for interrupting proceedings and using her faith to justify what she did.

  • @mjm412010 Also have you considered that it;'s the judge that's lying?

  • @mjh012363 It is possible, but less probable. The commissioners court supported his decisions, and seeing as they don't all see eye to eye, it is improbable that they are all complicit in the lie. Also, the clerk is using the situation for political gain. She has been on Fox & Friends, and has caused a public outcry. Her manipulation of the situation combined with the fact that all other members of the court would have to work together in a lie leads me to believe that if anyone is lying its her

  • @mjm412010 Whatever. The prayer was said. The pledge was said. Wether it was before or after the call to order is of little importance. It was still done on the public dime. And now the judge and commisioners want the clerk to doctor the minutes. That's perjury. Even though she is clearly grand standing that still is not the issue. The bottom line remains the judge said a prayer on the public dime and now he is trying to cover it up.

  • @mjm412010 Read three different minutes from three different meetings Jan. 24, May 23 and June 13 from Bowie Couinty and all three list the invocation, pledge and call to order in different order. I'm guessing it's only a minor detail you are quivaling over. Nice hairsplitting on your part. You ought to consider a law degree!

  • @mjh012363 In other words the prayer and pledge were still part of the meeting.

  • THANK YOU, Natalie Nichols!

  • The left has planted atheist and progressives in the courts to attack the very fiber of this great land. Make no mistake! We are at war with the commies on the left. They have infiltrated our city and town halls, state houses and one currently lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Av.

This women is to be commended. I stand with her. We love you Natalie! God Bless You and God Bless America!

  • Everyone MUST SPEAK OUT like this Woman!

  • You people don't quite understand. The minutes of a court meeting are to reflect only the business of the court. A prayer and pledge is not business because there is not motion or vote on the floor. This "battle" should not be fought in the first place. The comissioners are not trying to stop the prayer and pledge, but instead have the minutes corrected to include only business. It is not a stand against a prayer or pledge, but instead an effort to correct a clerical error. A mountain is being

  • When people let emotions rule their thoughts, rational debate cant take place. Maybe the fact that hose words have been overused is what has taken away from the meaning and feeling of reverence for them. And yes, they mis the point. What happens at the meeting is what matters, and the pledge, prayer or anything else not relating to what the meeting is for is not a record for historical notes, that's for a diary

  • AWESOME!

  • what a dumbass woman

  • Is this area overwhelmed with Democrats? This is the only way that these men could have been elected. Time for a RECALL!

  • Let's remove Obama instead!!!!!

  • Thank you Natalie Nichols, you are awesome!

  • Wait until you what happens when a Marines wife, who is serving on his second tour in Afghanistan, ask to speak and address this issue. Commissioner McCoy tried to prevent her from speaking....she eventually spoke. I will try to get that up as soon as I can.

  • As a United States Marine Corps Combat Veteran I would like to say Thank You for posting this
