I know this is going to be a great series, and I know because band of brothers and saving private Ryan were great. I noticed that a lot of people are comparing this to band of brothers and if and I noticed something the first time I watched band of brothers, Speilberg and hanks, the same as saving private Ryan and the same in this. So obviously their are a great combo. So obviously this is going to be a great series

but theres a difference, BOB was written by someone who wasnt there and he had to interview all surviving members of the 506th PIR, this series is based on two books written by the men who served in the Pacific campaign and Generation Kill were written by Evan Wright who actually was embedded with 1st MAR Rec Bat. As much as BOB was accurate (book) it cant get anymore accurate than by the soldiers who were actually there (E.B. Sledge and Robert Leckie).

Its base on the 5th Marine Division so its Pelilu, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. I know the Gunny won the MOH for Guadacanal so we might get scenes from there I can't wait. Does anybody know if there is a book base on this story?

They are telling the story of the Marines who fought in WW2 just like they told the story of the Army from WW2 in Band of Brothers. Dont be an ass !

I think this might actually end up being better than the BoB series, and I am a big fan. I've read a book this is going to be based off of, and I have read the BoB books. The pacific book was 10 times better. Read a book called With the Old Breed if you want a good read.

1) They had so much success with the original BOB that peoples expectations are gonna be too high.

This series is in large part based on With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa by E.B. Sledge. With the Old Breed is without a doubt one of the BEST first hand accounts of combat ever written, and a better book than Band of Brothers. Of course whether or not the series will live up the source material remains to be seen, but your comment makes it obvious that you are completely unfamiliar with the story that this is based on.

2)Most of BOB actors were not popular or well known, so many didn't know if they were good actors or not. So, maybe we should give these guys a chance to see what they can do.
