  • What key is this in! (Please reply someone!!!)

  • @musicforger44

    it's in D Major

  • still love it..

  • kick asssssssss

  • This is great, where i can found backing track?

  • Amazing!!!

  • Can you tell me the tone settings pls?

  • Hey Dan, You have any tips for learning this piece, it's amazing! anyways, I'm sort of a half-beginner on the guitar but I'll take my time learning and would appreciate some good advice, thanks! - casper

  • @yoyomatafaka

Best thing I can tell you is to take it a phrase at a time. If it seems too difficult, work on other stuff and then come back to it. This one is aimed at more experienced players, though it can't hurt to at least have a go at it and see what its about. if you ever want feedback or live instruction, I do teach lessons via Skype.

Hope that helps and thanks for your comment on the etude!

    Dan

  • been working on learning this whole thing and Im gettin there, thanx for the great lesson and great piece. Can I ask what kind of gear you are using, I have an american strat just need to know how to get good tone...

  • @JRaab311

I used Guitar Rig2 for this by Native Instruments (amp emulator software)

It was just an amp that was slightly overdriven (no pedal) + some verb.

Thanks, and I hope that helps

    - Dan

  • @DiscoverGuitarOnline ok great....so i just need to fender twin reverb it sounds like, go well with my strat with a little gain and reverb its nice to know theres no pedal needed to get that tone....also what is the advantages of setting your pickups at an angle like that?

  • eventually ill get this down and post a vid of me playin it...wont be as good as you but im happy to say this has been the most challenging piece I have learned...just goes to show anyone can do anything they really try to.... sounds cliche but still true....

  • eventually ill get this down and post a vid of me playin it...wont be as good as you but im happy to say this has been the most challenging piece I have learned...just goes to show anyone can do anything they really try to.... sounds cliche but still true....but after getting it i realize that wasnt so hard and I can take on even more challenging pieces and keep progressing....

  • @JRaab311

I'm really glad you're getting something out of it. That means alot to me. Thanks for the comments & feedback!

    - Dan

  • @DiscoverGuitarOnline hey whats the advantage of setting your pickups at an angle like that. Also what gauge strings do u use? I use 11's seem to have good tone and feel.

  • @JRaab311

Well, the pickups were angled like that when I bought it new. I imagine it balances out the volume between higher and lower strings. I've never felt the need to mess with it. for strings I use dadarrio's 9 - 42. I've spent some time with 10's and even 11's but eventually went back to 9's ( and don't plan changing any time soon). Definitely a matter of preference.

  • @DiscoverGuitarOnline ok great thanx for all the great info...

  • great tune, im gonna spend a lot of time getting this down

  • This is my favorite original composition. I went to your site to download the tab and backing track but the buttons are working. Are the links broken?

    Chris

  • @gerdeywii Thanks!

I just checked it out and it worked for me. The tabs can be downloaded, but the BT is only streaming for now.

  • Very nice, kind of Mark Knopfler meets Jerry Garcia. Tasteful playing, a good lesson, too!

  • after iv'e seen this, I just want a stratocaster :D

  • do you have tabs of this ??

  • @FlapSkate

click on link in description..... go to "solos" on the home page, then on the left you can choose "lead guitar etudes" from the filter..... lead guitar etude #2 is in that section and a link to the full tabs is in the description. (it's all free)

    Thanks,

    Dan

  • It says they are allowed. I just have to approve them. Go ahead make a response if you want, I will approve it. =)

regarding the CN solo..... I did actually do that one. It's available to subscribers of Discover Guitar Online.

I can't put them all on here for free. It costs me too much time and money to do that.
