Hey Dan, You have any tips for learning this piece, it's amazing! anyways, I'm sort of a half-beginner on the guitar but I'll take my time learning and would appreciate some good advice, thanks! - casper
Best thing I can tell you is to take it a phrase at a time. If it seems too difficult, work on other stuff and then come back to it. This one is aimed at more experienced players, though it can't hurt to at least have a go at it and see what its about. if you ever want feedback or live instruction, I do teach lessons via Skype.
Hope that helps and thanks for your comment on the etude!
been working on learning this whole thing and Im gettin there, thanx for the great lesson and great piece. Can I ask what kind of gear you are using, I have an american strat just need to know how to get good tone...
@DiscoverGuitarOnline ok great....so i just need to fender twin reverb it sounds like, go well with my strat with a little gain and reverb its nice to know theres no pedal needed to get that tone....also what is the advantages of setting your pickups at an angle like that?
eventually ill get this down and post a vid of me playin it...wont be as good as you but im happy to say this has been the most challenging piece I have learned...just goes to show anyone can do anything they really try to.... sounds cliche but still true....
eventually ill get this down and post a vid of me playin it...wont be as good as you but im happy to say this has been the most challenging piece I have learned...just goes to show anyone can do anything they really try to.... sounds cliche but still true....but after getting it i realize that wasnt so hard and I can take on even more challenging pieces and keep progressing....
@DiscoverGuitarOnline hey whats the advantage of setting your pickups at an angle like that. Also what gauge strings do u use? I use 11's seem to have good tone and feel.
Well, the pickups were angled like that when I bought it new. I imagine it balances out the volume between higher and lower strings. I've never felt the need to mess with it. for strings I use dadarrio's 9 - 42. I've spent some time with 10's and even 11's but eventually went back to 9's ( and don't plan changing any time soon). Definitely a matter of preference.
This is my favorite original composition. I went to your site to download the tab and backing track but the buttons are working. Are the links broken?
click on link in description..... go to "solos" on the home page, then on the left you can choose "lead guitar etudes" from the filter..... lead guitar etude #2 is in that section and a link to the full tabs is in the description. (it's all free)
very helpful. I got a new guitar and i REALLY want to know how to play the songs u play. Can u please post some vids about simple exercises that will help me get used to control and flexibility? I would really appreciate that (: thanks
dude u should actually consider making songs, even instrumentals... cuz ive seen ur other lessons and ur not only talented but u have the creative mind to make catchy hooks & riffs, id think on that man
thanks alot, that's very nice of you to say. I do plan on writing some full songs. I have a number in the works, but I have my work cut out for me with this website so time is short right now. Thanks again,
dude this is by far your number one make. Do you have any albums out? And this is an amazing composition you could easily add a small bit and make it into a song
Thanks alot, I appreciate it. I plan on building up a library of them for educational purposes 1st, but I may eventually work some of them out into complete songs.
i would post me playing this in your video responses but you have them locked u should unlock so everyone who learns it can post it if they want and i have a request if u'll take it ,,,can u make a video lesson for the outro solo from comfortably numb by pink floyd i would extremly appreciate it thanks and please get back to me on weather or not ur gonna make the lesson so i dont keep waiting for nothing lol cheers
lol no problem man i still appricate your free stuff and i cant find the backing track for this exact solo so i'll prolly record over this video cheers
This is the coolest lesson on YouTube!!!!!! I'm learning it right now, and I'll post a video response when I have it down! I may just have to check out the website now...

JRaab311 1 year ago
@JRaab311
I used Guitar Rig2 for this by Native Instruments (amp emulator software)
It was just an amp that was slightly overdriven (no pedal) + some verb.
Thanks, and I hope that helps
