This has something to do with the thing that fell out of the ship during the beginning, it was then hidden underground by Christopher and turned out to be some kind of command center which he built a shuttle around, because the workers were not able to pilot the ship, and were kicked off by the humans, Christopher had to find fuel among scraps on the ground in order to get back to the ship to leave.

I'm not sure why everyone keeps saying this movie has big plot holes. Everything everyone points out as unexplained is explained in the film.

Example:

1. The aliens don't fight back- In the film it is explained that the aliens have a caste system and the majority of the ones on the ship are of a lower intelligence and docile worker class, they were bred to take orders and be pacifists. The exception would be "Christopher" who appears to be very intelligent and is forming an escape.

i like how they did the suit. its not so shiny and that they tried so hard to make it look realistic that it ends up looking more fake... and it doesnt look low budget at all.

most of it doesnt even look like its CGI, reminds me of the loader in Aliens.

they really balanced it out to where its very believable and almost real.

Not even close. As a matter of fact, the shot of Megatron and Starscream on top of the skyscraper in that movie is arguably ILM's worst CGI work to date.

Some CGI in TF2 was pretty good, but certainly not the best... definitely not better than the CGI in District 9, that's for sure.
