  • My old transformers and GI Joe comics were all stolen in 2008 :(

  • I never thought I'd ever see this commercial ever again. The last time was in '84!

  • I totally remember this commercial and only saw it air once!

  • As much of a TF fan I was and still is and how old I am now, I have never saw this commercial. I have hundreds of the comic books too. What I find interesting is how Megatron is designed in this commercial. I know he was looking like that in many of the comics but its interesting to see him look like that in a CARTOON.

  • It's A shame Marvel never tried this technique to advertise their own comics on TV for like Spider-Man, or X-Men comics.

  • @Launchpad05 It seems unecessary for those characters. They pretty much advertise themselves because theyre on every shelf, newsstand, convenience store etc

  • My big brother and i always collected the comics even since i was 4.

  • I love marvel comics

  • WOW! Comic-book Megatron in animated form -- black helmet and all. Nice find and great memories.

  • I remember my dad getting me the comic books as a surprise for doing good at home....i never read a lot but loved seeing drawn pictures of the robots...i even had the coloring book and some Transformers...such as Optimus Prime...that dad threw away when I grew up.....at least the only transformers stuff I have are the first two Michael Bay movies and TF: Animated movie.

  • @kascnef82

Same here and did you see the animated movie in theaters? i did when i was 5.

  • prowl, jazz, and sideswipe get a lot of love in these types of commercials. these guys pop up everywhere!

  • Anyone remember the black-costume Spider Man guest shot in issue 3?

  • The ark that crashed looked different!

  • I always like the animated commercials for the TF and GI Joe comics. They always made me bug my dad to take me to the store. Thanks for posting

  • Damn, I haven't seen this since I was in sixth grade! OUTSTANDING!!!

  • This is obviously made before the cartoon series... Megatron looks different.

  • Like a meteor hitting my world back in the day! When I first saw this commercial back in 84, I totally flipped because I was already into Anime (12 at the time). I remember discussing it with my friends at school the next day, and then not long after that I remember some brief confusion between TFs and Gobots (that didn't last very long though) Ah, and then the excited yet agonizing wait and hunt for the comic...lol

Good memories!!! Thanks for posting this classic gem!!!

  • Wonderful memory...thanks for sharing this. I remember this commercial and I went nuts looking around for the comic book; no one seemed to have it. (All the stationery stores in the neighborhood used to have spinning racks loaded with comic books in those days.) Then I got home from school one day and my mom suprised me with it. She got it someplace on her lunch hour. I still have it up in the attic.

  • movie

  • The coolest narrator voice ever.

  • @Stablemable2 Vincent Caroli is the gentleman's name, and he did a lot of voiceover work in the 80s, but I think I remember him most for being the narrator of Transformers.

  • @Stablemable2 my physics teacher in high school sounded just like him

  • i want one

  • Wish someone would review the old comic books...

  • Recently, IDW Publishing has reprinted the original 80's comics! I currently have up to vol.5.

  • I remember seeing this in 84 and how excited it made me,then we got hit with a few toy commercials and then the 3 part debut of the cartoon.<3

  • This is when it all began!

  • Have you taken a look at any of the other products for ROTF?

  • Ok- I also got "The Transformers Playing Cards", "Transformers: Animated" Happy Meal Toy, 2 "Transformers (2007)" Burger King Toys, " The Transformers: The Movie" (1986) soundtrack album (CD Reissue), a swarm of papers from the computer based on "The Transformers", and I cannot wait to get the Burger King Kid's Meal of "Transformers 2".

  • I have the original pressing of the Movie Soundtrack '86', got lucky and found it brand new at a used record store!

  • very cool
