As much of a TF fan I was and still is and how old I am now, I have never saw this commercial. I have hundreds of the comic books too. What I find interesting is how Megatron is designed in this commercial. I know he was looking like that in many of the comics but its interesting to see him look like that in a CARTOON.
@Launchpad05 It seems unecessary for those characters. They pretty much advertise themselves because theyre on every shelf, newsstand, convenience store etc
I remember my dad getting me the comic books as a surprise for doing good at home....i never read a lot but loved seeing drawn pictures of the robots...i even had the coloring book and some Transformers...such as Optimus Prime...that dad threw away when I grew up.....at least the only transformers stuff I have are the first two Michael Bay movies and TF: Animated movie.
Like a meteor hitting my world back in the day! When I first saw this commercial back in 84, I totally flipped because I was already into Anime (12 at the time). I remember discussing it with my friends at school the next day, and then not long after that I remember some brief confusion between TFs and Gobots (that didn't last very long though) Ah, and then the excited yet agonizing wait and hunt for the comic...lol
Good memories!!! Thanks for posting this classic gem!!!
Wonderful memory...thanks for sharing this. I remember this commercial and I went nuts looking around for the comic book; no one seemed to have it. (All the stationery stores in the neighborhood used to have spinning racks loaded with comic books in those days.) Then I got home from school one day and my mom suprised me with it. She got it someplace on her lunch hour. I still have it up in the attic.
@Stablemable2 Vincent Caroli is the gentleman's name, and he did a lot of voiceover work in the 80s, but I think I remember him most for being the narrator of Transformers.
Ok- I also got "The Transformers Playing Cards", "Transformers: Animated" Happy Meal Toy, 2 "Transformers (2007)" Burger King Toys, " The Transformers: The Movie" (1986) soundtrack album (CD Reissue), a swarm of papers from the computer based on "The Transformers", and I cannot wait to get the Burger King Kid's Meal of "Transformers 2".
My old transformers and GI Joe comics were all stolen in 2008 :(

It's A shame Marvel never tried this technique to advertise their own comics on TV for like Spider-Man, or X-Men comics.
