  • You can't get much more epic than hearing this in the language its novel inspiration was originally written in. :) Victor Hugo, you truly were a brilliant man far ahead of your time. I wish you had lived during our modern era; we could use someone like you.

  • Watch the arabic version, he hits the note at the end perfectly.

  • the song is just wonderful

  • I love this song n_n. But one question- O__o are there like 2 different french versions of this??? Because I have this on DVD & when I play it in french everything sounds different from this??? & I prefer this than what's on the DVD. :o/

  • @XELIxGENESISX Canadian French and French, i supose is that way (sorry...terrible english)

  • @XELIxGENESISX Yea its French and Canadian French. They do it that way so that both audiences can understand it slightly better, however they are so distant that Canadian French is considered a dialect of French. Couple hundred years of separation does lot to a language :P

  • @KcIOxXxA Don't listen to that troll! Hercules was awesome, and forever be awesome. (Especially in Greek.)

  • @KcIOxXxA HERCULES---> GAY

  • @KcIOxXxA

the original language is awlays americain, no ?

  • Let's be honoust, the voice of the english Clopin...well...sucks xD It's too different, and here Clopin just fits in. That's why it's way better!

  • @shauneyscream At least the English voice for Clopin can actually REACH THAT NOTE! They had to use his in here.

  • @ZoraCatone

The Polish Clopin can do it, too ;)

  • @ZoraCatone May I point out that the French Canadian singer can reach it? No offence to France French, just stating they didn't switch over to the English singer's note. (Search the French Canadian version)

  • @toctocmuano Yeah um, I'm kinda Canadian there pal. I may be a trifle deaf in my left ear but my hearing is better than Dumbo's. I know. I HAVE it.

  • @toctocmuano Uuuh, you don't really know who you're talking to there, do you? I'm sure he knows. No, I know he knows. He's Zora Catone. Nuff said.

  • @toctocmuano Although I will agree, I was slightly disappointed when I bought my France copy to find out THAT version used Paul Kandel's note.

  • @shauneyscream O_o What are you talking about? I LOVE Clopin's English voice.

  • @camptowngirl i agree XD clopin's english voice is epic. i only wish his french voice could actually hit that last note...

  • @KcIOxXxA what the heck is halloween town then?

  • I love Quasis voice in the French language.<33

  • @NewDivded It's the same guy that sings the english version :D

  • @ZlashQu Are you kidding with me?! :o

  • @NewDivded Oh sorry, I was thinking of Clopin :P

  • @ZlashQu Okey. x)

  • I am definitely certain that the voice actor of Frollo here is the same one that voices Gandalf in Lord of the Rings.

My childhood version was the the one that aired in French in Canada, I can't remember if it was a different voice cast like it often is... :/

  • @CelebrenIthil Frollo isvoiced by Tony Jay and Gandalf is Ian McKellan. Both great voices, but Tony Jay passed away in 2006

  • @mmgringoire2 Sorry, since my comment was in English it might not have been clear I was speaking of the French voice actors (and thus why there was a voice actor mentioned for Gandalf at all).

  • @CelebrenIthil My mistake. I forgot that this was the rench one when i commented.

  • I'm doing my french homework to Disney music in french. :D

  • @KcIOxXxA lion king in zulu is EPIC.

  • Comment removed

  • They kept the final note from the american version... dubbed over everything else...

  • @KcIOxXxA U forgot mulan = mandarin. Aladdin = arabic

  • they put so much more emotion in their words :D

  • The Aristocats in French is also adorable :D

  • is just so cool but i dont get a wod :D

  • j'adore francais! i took it for two years, and it was rlly fun. (unfortunatley im taking chinese now)

Listening to The Notre Dame's Huntchback, born from a classical litterature's monster, in any other langage then french (if you have the luck to understand it) is kind of a sacrilege...I've got nothing to say against the quality of any other version.

  • Ha, the last note is from the original, no surprise I guess :) But this is a good version, I'm not trying to say it wasnt

for those who don't speak french: very good! the priest is definately better in this version but clopin cant quite hit that last note making the english clopin more epic. but still, it's very good. ^^)

  • Oh...

  • Sorry, but the French guy cannot imitate Tony Jay's kickass voice

  • @ZillaRocks It's not about imitation here...

  • german version is the best

  • @KcIOxXxA in fact, original language of all disney movies is english...

  • Dude. I want Frollo's horse.

  • best cardinal ever!

  • lÔl_ÃñÿóNè_wÂnñÀ_chAt_wíth_mE_Î_fEÈl_sÖ_lONÉlY_tÕDÅY└

  • I seriously loved this scene as hell. And Clopin's tale of the man and monster really echoes that of real-life; everyone does not appears as it seem. Frollo acts like a monster, under the guise of a righteous judge.

  • This is totally the best movie opening in Disney's history !!!!

  • Bernard Alane...

  • Thumbs up for the first emo horse ever seen !

  • Why is it satisfying to watch Disney movies in the language of the place it was set in? Because I'm feeling that right now.

  • @108KelperAcension it's more authentic. I feel the same way. Now I gotta find Ratatouillie in french

  • Clopin est merveilleux... Very expressive. I love how he says, "She ran..." And the Archdeacon is quite good too. They did switch to English on that last note... That's cuz Paul Kandel is frickin amazing.

  • Omg *_* I don't understand, 'cause i'm from germany, but it sounds so beautiful! <3

  • Merci à Chizpurfle52595 pour cette merveilleuse version intégrale : )

  • Disney makes me feel epic.

  • Surely an excellent version, but italian one is absolutely the best, in my opinion!

  • Such a freaking lovely voice Clopin's is. (:

  • This version is great, I love it in french, because, well yeah, it suits this particular movie ;-)

Try look it up in danish, he hits the note too...

  • @kamelai he also does in the Dutch version

  • This movie needs to be released on Blu-Ray soon.

  • Awwww... All of it was french untill the the last word. If you listen carefully, were the guy says Dame when the title comes up its the english actors voice. :(

  • i was in love with clopin when i was a kid... as a matter of fact, i still am, in a way... <3 haha, my love!

  • @mirrorofdeath666 Oh my gosh I thought I was the only one who dared ! =D

  • I love listening to dinsey songs in what would be the characters original language!

  • lmao i love the horse

  • Love Clopin Voice !

  • The whole french thing seems to add an extra level of awesomeness, even if french Clopin doesnt sing the high note. My only regret is that this video doesnt have subtitles, so i'm forced to try and remember the english version to translate this

  • @JPLOWMAN2 The lyrics are in the author's comments :-)

  • For the two top coments- i've heard this song in many different languages and clopin's voice just rocks in french & english ok, but in singing only english and portuguese versions are really really good

  • Clopin sounds awesome even in French, but Frollo's voice doesn't sound menacing enough XD;

  • The french version is awesome becuause theyre in france! XD I love it!

  • its pretty epic when frollo notices that all the king and saints are "steering" at him

    pwned

  • I love this movie in any language, but French makes it more... real, somehow.

  • who could dislike this? really? Come on, it's in French!

  • ...did they...I don't want to bielieve it but... I think the last not, I could be wrong I HOPE I'm wrong, but the last not REALLY soends like Pau Kandel...just, the voice sounds like it's not the same uy who was singing the note before.... e_O someone tell me I'm wrong there?

  • It's REALLy interesting to see 1:53 when he says his name, it shoews that the English actor NAILED the pronunciation, XD kinda interesting :)

  • @Hippoclite hannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn !

  • I'm french, and Frollo's voice is Gandalf voice too (the lord of the rings) too ^^

  • I want the Disney after Tangled to be as dark as Notre Dame!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @lefevre78 C'est du latin et ni de l'hebreux ou du grec... -__-

  • LOVE FROLLO AT 5.22 !!

  • The end is always so great, no matter that language it is. How somebody can sing so high?

  • um....clopin is hot

  • Sexy voice Frollo! Very authenic feel with the french! Clopin sounds so cool! :P

  • Great video description and film! God bless!

  • Hmm...It would seem that 12 people missed the 'like' button. Fail.

  • Coplin still has a good voice. XD

  • I agree...Clopin has a amazing voice in any language...He's just that awesome.

But I think this movie is best in French. Just makes sense cause it's in France.

But this song is good in any language cause it's a awesome song to start with.

  • I love FRENCH

  • yeah gurl run wit dat baby!

  • frollo= gross voice

  • @fozziefan Thanks ! I wish my english teacher could agree with you :p

  • @clemleloup Merci pour ton soutien ^^

  • clopin's french voice is just as awesome as it is in the englidh version. however you can tell that for the last note they switch to the english because no matter how awesome this french voice actor is only paul kandel is awesome enough to do that last note. it sounds like he couldn'nt go high so they castrated him while he was singing and he just mixed his high-pitched scream of pain into the note.

  • @fozziefan It seems like whoever Clopin's actor is, its still amazing~

  • @fozziefan The danish manages it ;)

  • @fozziefan Not only him... Carlo Ragone also can hit perfectly the last note ;D Listen Italian version :P

  • @fozziefan Clopin is disney's chuck norris in any language. just sayin'

  • Gahhhh - that last note brought tears to my eyes ;-; In a good way. Definetely one of the best versions I've heard!!

  • Frollo sounds like a goblin with a cold.

Clopins voice is awsome ...as usual

  • I love it. I think that French is the best language for this opening, just because the scene takes place in Paris. I live in Paris & Notre Dame is my favorite place in the city. But i desagree for one thing ! The greatest movie opening in Disney history is the Lion King's opening ;D (i'm sorry, i know my english is not that good)

  • @vivosiris totalement d'accord!

  • @vivosiris actually i don't see any big problems with your english at all!

  • @vivosiris Actually, your English is not bad at all. I disagree with you about the Lion King, though. I think this opening for a movie is best. But that's me, and we're all entitled to our own opinions.

  • He doesn't say ''a Notre Dame'' at end. It's "ahahahah"

  • It's weird that in English we also say Notre Dame

  • In my opinion, Clopin is the best disney character ever created, and this song, in English or french, is my favorite song that disney's done (rivaled closely by Court of Miracles) probably just because Clopin's leading them.

  • @XxFriendlyMushroomxX Clopin is not a "Disney character" but a Victor Hugo one...reinterpreted by Disney...please.

  • This movie is amazing in any language, but French is such a beautiful and eloquent language, it makes it that much more powerful.

  • Wow, woth the french dubbing, this movie is brought "home" so to speak. It always adds a completely new dimension, if the characters in disney movies speak the language they are supposed to speak, regional-wise. Which would mean:

    Aladdin - Arabic

Beauty and the Beast - French

    Herkules - Greek

Lion King - Some African Dialect maybe ??

Little Mermaid - dunno, danish maybe ?

  • @hudson0815 little mermaid would be bubble talk!

  • @Kaboomaman

    ROFL. Probably.^^

  • @hudson0815 I think Lion King would be Swahili ;).

  • @hudson0815 Okay, this is late. But you're right. I think Swahili for the Lion King as someone already said. And the Chinese version of Mulan sounds best too.

I'd never understand them if they weren't done in English, but I love the "home language" versions too because they do sound authentic.

  • Ouais enfin poétique... Faut pas exagérer ^^

  • I LOVE the french version. I listened to it when I was a child and honestly this is the best version. The lyrics are so poetic, they sound like Shakespeare in English. It's superb.

  • The ending of the song...so powerful. Sends shivers. Mesmerizing.

  • Who are the voice actors for the French version? Can't find them anywhere.

  • 5:45 to 6:10 always left me with tearful eyes... it's so amazingly beautiful.

The music during the hunt of Quasimodo's mother sounds wonderful too.

  • Frollo's singing voice is soooo different from his speaking voice...

  • clopins real voise :D

  • nice one, but nothing beats the italian versions (;

  • Awesome version!!!

  • Vraiment belle cette chanson de Disney, sérieux!

  • Frollo doesn't sound as intimidating and powerful in his mother tongue.

  • Yeah, it's great to listen to it in different languages. ;-)

  • WHOA! This version gave me goosebumps all the way through! French suits the Hunchback of Notre Dame WAY better than English!

  • EPIC! High note at the end <3

    (Pardon ma grammere.)

  • THey cheated on the last note! You can tell. They quickly switched to CLopin's english voice. But other than that, this is terrific. I love watching Disney films in their native tounge! Don't you?

  • wow makes me wish I paid more attention in french class lol

  • ...did they just copy that last high note that clopin was supposed to sing from the english version?

  • Yeah they did, I read somewhere that only the English singer could hit the note so they merged it with the French version.

  • @BastasGirl Yeah, makes sense. That note is crazy powerful and I'm sure there's not many who can hit it.

  • that is so cool. i kept getting goosebumps at every line of this song, french and english.

i love songs that are sung in their mother language.

  • This is the sole reason I watched the whole movie in French, and it was quite a treat. :3

  • i'm studying french and i find this version brilliant. i think this version is more authentic and sounds a lot smoother but the one you watch first (i saw the english one) will always sway your decision.

  • Is it just me, or does Clopin have an amazing voice no matter what language he's voiced in?

  • @Azulmine I absolutely agree. Clopin sounds great in every language I have heard so far ♥ I love the French Quasimodo the most. Thank you, Chizpurfle52595 ♥

  • @Azulmine sometimes :P but have you really heard all the versions?

  • @Azulmine Not just you Clopin is the greatest.

  • @Azulmine Yes!

  • @Azulmine It's just you.

  • @Azulmine

He got indeed in the most languages a great voice

  • @Azulmine no it not you...i watching it in french canadian, and clopin got a simillary voice.so it amazing in all three version i guess ^^
