stop acting like you guys know what you are saying he plays golf at stanford for heaven sake and im sure he is well aware of what goes on in his swing
guys your comments seem good, but I'm not sure these guys really need it..they do play golf at Stanford. And just a wild guess here, but I THINK there might be a couple coaches over there.
I love people critique a Stanford University player's swing. These guys won the national title a few years ago, you know.
I learned something the hard way when I played national tournaments in high school - It's not how good the swing is, but whether it performs. I had guys with MUCH more technically incorrect swings than me beat me by 12 or more shots in 3 day tournaments.
If the result is good, than it's fine!
Also, listen to the sound...he's making VERY PURE contact on every shot.
You are very mistaken about their swings being more technically incorrect than yours...you're focusing on appearance of swings. I could show you quickly on video why their swings ARE technically sound and that's why they beat you, pure and simple.
Well, yes, you're absolutely correct. Everyone judges swings by "looks". The only important point in a golf swing is impact and transition to the downswing to get the club in the "slot".
I should have rephrased saying that they are not technically less perfect, but "visually less perfect/looks not as technically correct"
See Jim Furyk as example. His swing is unorthodox but from halfway down on his downswing until impact he is textbook and matches every other good ballstriker out there.
I would study Dodge's lower body in his backswing if I were Matt. Keeping your lower body a little more stable, specifically keeping the hips more level, is going to give you a lot more consistency and allow you to work the ball extremely easy. Notice at the top how you've got a little daylight between the legs? Keep the left hip up allowing yourself to pivot around the right leg and start watching your margin of error decrease!!

@jadana118 Coaches teach different styles of play. Why do you think Tiger has changed 3 times.

This kid must hit the ball a mile

dang how many junior tournaments do these guys hafta win as a kid to actually make this team??

Very Sergio-like downcocking. Probably hits it a mile and is a great ballstriker. Probably struggles with distance control in competition.

Looks like it would be a bit inconsistant. Whatever makes him make shots though.
