But what i understand is that you are not required to use the government healthcare plan; if you prefer, you can stay with your curent doctor and insurance plan, so the reform that will be taking place will not be as radical.
Under the current plan, Insurance companies can take on no new clients nor can they make any changes to current plans, hence, if your doctor moves or you make a change, you are required to take the government option at that point. Because of this B.S. Congress has taken the counciling out of the bill so that doctors can't get paid for talking to their patients about their options when they are terminally ill.
But that is the whole point, Sarah Palin's talk of "death panels" is as real as talk about cyborg implants. Remember that Republican's idea of health care reform is to mandate that all Americans must buy overpriced private insurance and that there can be no public option that would cost much less. It is amazing that they have been able mobilized so many people to fight for the corporate profits that are bleeding us dry.
Sarah Palin was 1 governor and now nothing more than a pundit, she is not representative, may as well bring up Barbara streisand or Hannity.

Your aunt could set up payments with the hospital....that is a LIE....they cannot demand FULL PAYMENT in 90 days for a surgery !!! People just want things FREE, nothing in this world is FREE !!!! IF your aunt DID not make any type arrangements for payment, YES THEN they can garnish her paycheck for payment. You have to meet certain guidelines for charity fund at the hospital. Otherwise, you set up payments. I have done so myself and paid off bills.

I don't know what hospital you go to, but my aunt had NO insurance and had to have emergency gall stone removal. When she couldn't pay her bill IN FULL in 90 days they threatened to garnish her paycheck. She looked into the "charity program" and it was November, and they were bone dry out of funds.

One problem with that logic: We've been paying into the pool in taxes (direct/indirect), Social Security, and Medicare. Yet where is the basic healthcare plan from the govt for the monthly rent we already pay into a corrupted/greedy system. Two ways to do this, govt takes what we pay in and invests it in a basic free policy or govt stops extorting money from our checks.

The US spends double what the UK spends on it's Universal, 100% socialised system. We pay LESS, there is still private insurance available to those who want it as a choice, people in the UK are healthier, live longer and in some ways the actual care received is better, especially preventative care. I work in healthcare, and all I have to say is the fact that other than illegal or dangerous procedures (which people go to other countries for), the US has the most outside patients in the world, meaning, we have the largest amount of foreign patients traveling to our country for healthcare because thier socialized healthcare is so bad! Every time you pay your health insurance premium part of it goes to the person who decides who gets care and who dies. This person gets a bigger bonus for denying care(also paid by you). It might be wrong to put a price tag on people, but the goods and services of health care HAVE A PRICE and someone has to pay for it. Drug companies, insurance companies, and hospitals CAN NOT operate in the red - they will go under and NO ONE will receive the goods and services. Healthcare costs money - and the government can not pay for it. I am sorry to hear about your situation, but you have to realize you can't make a "fair" system without reducing quality for everyone.

Obama being vague? I'd say LIER is more accurate. He recently claimed a surgeon makes 30K-50K for an amputation. The college of physicians and surgeons publicly scolded him(75,000 members) and noted that the surgeon earns $900.-$1400. which included prep and aftercare. Obama has to lie, but even his own party isn't buying it.

Maybe I am misunderstanding the plan. But what i understand is that you are not required to use the government healthcare plan; if you prefer, you can stay with your curent doctor and insurance plan, so the reform that will be taking place will not be as radical.

Under the current plan, Insurance companies can take on no new clients nor can they make any changes to current plans, hence, if your doctor moves or you make a change, you are required to take the government option at that point. In my opinion, that is not an american, nor constitutional plan but a socialist one.
In other words after about 20 years ALL would be on the government plan.
Why shouldnt I be allowed to enjoy the benefits of my hard work, why will I be punished for working hard?

I think our system can be re-worked with tort reform and making it hard for lawyers to benefit from its problems, in the UK, well...just allow people to choose and allow doctors to be soley private or govt.
