A good cosplay doesn't depend of your side (asian or western...) alot of people enjoy to cosplay because it can be fun to pretend to be a another person,being,character ect,but sometimes being a westerner has advantages,eg: Nell from Bleach,has big boobs,alot of asian girls do not,but alot of westerner girls do,and in the movie Ghost in the Shell,the (sorry memory is terrible) captain that has white hair and is tall and bigger built,alot of westerner men have builds like that whereas asian male builds are more lithe :3 13 and proud to be western!<3
I would love to go to every video like this and press the like button on them. I saw just one of ProudToBeAsian's videos and immediately, I thought that there is no pride in being a racist. It's fine to love your country, but that is taking it overboard. If anyone was that extreme in their hatred towards something, I suggest a social worker or ranting to a friend. @SethImmortal some people are incredible picky about details that they forget the big picture. But if you have dark skin it only makes it more interesting according to me atleast (i saw a black Yoko Littner once wow damn i should have brought a camera).
In my opinion, anyone can cosplay. Whether or not they do it "well", depends on their fitness and the effort they put into their costume. It has nothing to do with race. >=/

@nonames364 Forgive me but i've seen all kinds of facial structures so color have been the only thing that seperates the races for me and perhaps eye shape but to be fair anime characters don't exactly do most asians justice because their eyes are often blown out of proportion so it's hard to tell.

@MimuraChie To each their own. You say you find asian cosplay to be better, it's just a matter of that persons opinion. I find both good. Some from both sides aren't the greatest, but one is no better than the other. Both are equal in my book.
Could someone help me? I'm confused because a LOT of anime characters despite being drawn with asian characteristic features have so many white traits (blonde hair, blue eyes) and all that is it just me or do asians sometime's wish they were white? Why do so many asians hate white cosplayers but love white features?
@Kienkaro I agree although asian people do not have a dark skin tone they aren't exactly white i don't understand why asian and western cosplayers and anime/manga fans can't get along because anime and manga characters look like a mix of asian and western. It annoys me that some asians can't see we westerners are not all awful cosplayers and we westerners don't all think the asians are jerks for being good at cosplay!

What's wrong with dressing up and having fun? granted some people look better than others cosplaying, but that could be said about Asians as well. Asians don't necessarily look like anime characters as well, when artists draw characters in anime it seems to be it's own genre of race and does not necessarily look like anything but a Anime character. Asian, white, Hispanic, whatever... it all comes down to personal looks imo rather than race. btw I personally am Japanese as well.

I'm Asian.. But i think Anyone should be able to Cosplay, Some times people don't look as good in Cosplay, But Asians have the better face in Cosplaying anime characters. But some Westerners look amazing by cosplaying too. Some westeners do it better then Asians do it.

While i do feel that asians do pull off cosplay really well it's not only limited to asians being able to cosplay well. It's all about body type, etc. when cosplaying. You should only cosplay as characters that suit your body type and face shape etc, etc.

Just because someone doesn't have the facial structure for a specific character does NOT mean that they shouldn't cosplay as them. Some people do it for FUN you know. There shouldn't be a standard of beauty for this.
High five for the description. That Leafeon cosplay was amazing. By far one of the best I've seen. The one with Urahara and the one with Viscount and the girl wearing Ciel's dress were awesome (hat needed to be tilted to the right a little more in my opinion >.>). All these people did amazing jobs at it so if that person doesn't like it, they can suck it!
I think I've fallen in love with the Ichigo cosplayer... And I hope he really is a boy, 'cause sometimes you just cannot know. (But his body structure+chin+hands are telling me that he really is a male cosplayer. And a handsome of that. :D )
Look up eyes-0n-me on google images, they are an amazing cosplaying european couple who mostly specialise in Squall and Rinoa cosplays. They are quite asian looking characters, yet these italian cosplayers look exactly as I imagine they would in real life. Debate over.

i think anybody should be able to cosplay, but what separates the good cosplayers from the bad cosplayers is how they hold themselves and dress up to look the part. i could cosplay by putting on Lucy's dress and say "NYAA~~ I'm Lucy from Elfen Lied!! :3" but if i went all out and did the makeup and everything, that'd be different. either way, cosplaying is cosplaying. jussayinnnn.

after seeing many many "professional" cosplays done by both asians and westerners, i've come to the conclusion that asians just look better doing it. something about the asian face makes it better suited for cosplaying...it makes the cosplay "come alive", while a westerner's face makes it appear like...well...a costume...not believable at all. i'm sorry to say but anime characters really are based off asians...DESPITE SETTING AND RACE, the facial proportions are always closest to asian...
I agree with your opinion to some extent, but I actually think most anime is based on whites.
For example, lets go with Final Fantasy first. The noses are surely not Asian (Lightning/Cloud for examples). Also naturally, the eye color is not Asian. (Blue eyes, never seen a 100% Asian with blue eyes) D.N. Angel, D.Gray-Man, Death Note (Well, sort of on this one. But L is no Asian, so ha! Lol)
@bagleyy Most anime characters tend to have white skin and big eyes, and some of them also have different coloured hair. These all all western traits, so it looks odd to me when Asian cosplay, since they have brown skin, smaller eyes and black hair. Not that it really matters though, cosplay is fun. :)

Ive seen some of the Anti-Westerners cosplay videos and most of the times its people who threw something together a week before or new cosplayer. not even that, but just because they found an asian/japanese cosplayer that looked better playing the same character.

Asians and Westerners can be skilled or shitty. It narrows down to the person and their level of dedication and such.

I was only remarking the fact that it was strange that a lot of anime characters have perticular white traits (Goku when super sayan, naruto, ichigo his eyes becomes blue when his spirit energy is maxed and all that) and i found it ironic that any asian would hold hatred for white people portraying them considering that so many actually looks like they were of mixed ethnicity. @nonames364 Forgive me but i've seen all kinds of facial structures so color have been the only thing that seperates the races for me and perhaps eye shape but to be fair anime characters don't exactly do most asians justice because their eyes are often blown out of proportion so it's hard to tell.

What's wrong with dressing up and having fun? granted some people look better than others cosplaying, but that could be said about Asians as well. Asians don't necessarily look like anime characters as well, when artists draw characters in anime it seems to be it's own genre of race and does not necessarily look like anything but a Anime character. Asian, white, Hispanic, whatever... it all comes down to personal looks imo rather than race. btw I personally am Japanese as well.

Thank you, finally someone who isn't an idiot. I just raged so hard at proud to be asian for being so ignorant. While i do feel that asians do pull off cosplay really well it's not only limited to asians being able to cosplay well. It's all about body type, etc. when cosplaying. You should only cosplay as characters that suit your body type and face shape etc, etc.

The one with Urahara and the one with Viscount and the girl wearing Ciel's dress were awesome (hat needed to be tilted to the right a little more in my opinion >.>). Look up eyes-0n-me on google images, they are an amazing cosplaying european couple who mostly specialise in Squall and Rinoa cosplays. They are quite asian looking characters, yet these italian cosplayers look exactly as I imagine they would in real life. Debate over.

i think anybody should be able to cosplay, but what separates the good cosplayers from the bad cosplayers is how they hold themselves and dress up to look the part. i could cosplay by putting on Lucy's dress and say "NYAA~~ I'm Lucy from Elfen Lied!! :3" but if i went all out and did the makeup and everything, that'd be different. either way, cosplaying is cosplaying. jussayinnnn.

after seeing many many "professional" cosplays done by both asians and westerners, i've come to the conclusion that asians just look better doing it. something about the asian face makes it better suited for cosplaying...it makes the cosplay "come alive", while a westerner's face makes it appear like...well...a costume...not believable at all. i'm sorry to say but anime characters really are based off asians...DESPITE SETTING AND RACE, the facial proportions are always closest to asian...

I agree with your opinion to some extent, but I actually think most anime is based on whites.
For example, lets go with Final Fantasy first. The noses are surely not Asian (Lightning/Cloud for examples). Also naturally, the eye color is not Asian. (Blue eyes, never seen a 100% Asian with blue eyes) D.N. Angel, D.Gray-Man, Death Note (Well, sort of on this one. But L is no Asian, so ha! Lol)

@bagleyy Most anime characters tend to have white skin and big eyes, and some of them also have different coloured hair. These all all western traits, so it looks odd to me when Asian cosplay, since they have brown skin, smaller eyes and black hair. Not that it really matters though, cosplay is fun. :)

Ive seen some of the Anti-Westerners cosplay videos and most of the times its people who threw something together a week before or new cosplayer. not even that, but just because they found an asian/japanese cosplayer that looked better playing the same character.

I really think this debate is dumb. Cosplay is for fun, not to fight over. Cosplay lets us express our love, dedication, and sdmiration for our favorite anime/mangas. Western or Asian cosplay is suppost to be fun:) I think that VeryProudToBeAsian is smokin something because people bond over animes in fanart, anime conventions, and cosplay. Yes, Asian cosplays tend to be better but all the asian cosplays used in their videos are all professional, while the western people arn't. Not fair.<3Anime

lol one of them was complaining about black butler cosplayers. lolol did they forget that it takes place in Britain? And they blamed the cosplayers for them not liking this and a few other anime anymore...

Thank you so much!!!! I really despise any and all Asians who think that people who are westerners and who cosplay are being racist and selfish. Because we're totally not!!! Besides. Some of the most popular Anime that I know of don't even take place in Japan!! I don't understand why all cosplayers, Asian or not, can't just get along and cosplay for the fun of it!

Thank you for making this video. I usually don't get mad at people's opinions, but the ProudtobeAsian channels are really getting to me. I feel kind of sorry for them, because an American must have done something to them to make them so mad at us. If not, then what the hell? But anyways, thank you for making this to prove that really and truly, it doesn't matter who does it, as long as they do it respectfully and don't hate on those who they deem "unworthy" of the freakin Naruto costume...
