Woah I remember this! Yeah Sarah in quicksand! That was a close call! I noticed something that I didn't notice back then. The quicksand looks like oatmeal ROFL.
I just love this scene and how it shows that good suspicion and intensity OLTL once had. I also like the defense Sarah used against Megan about how she skid down the Austrian Alps in her wedding dress! Thanks abcsoaptv!
Yes that was great. You know this wasn't too long before Tonja Walker began her 7 year run as Alex Olanov(she started as something of an FBI agent before she went cuckoo on Cassie, brought Sarah home, married Asa and then took off with his money and turned cartoonish during her visits on and yes her memorable run as mayor) this was a mere few months after GH shot(and this time) killed Olivia.
Too bad--all girlfriend had to do was to either get on her back, stretch out her arms and float; maybe slowly roll herself rightwards in a semi-circle back toward the vegetation. Either that or get on her stomach and SLOWLY breast-stroke forward, toward the vegetation and the spot where she walked in. I wish soap operas would show a woman (or a man for that matter) rescuing her or his own self from quicksand. It'd be a good public safety move, especially for hikers.
it's more fun when a man/woman saves their loved ones but yes true what you say about public safety, which they do more of nowdays but not quite enough.
yeah for that summer adventure storyline in '92 when Jagger, Jason and Karen were stranded on the island and fought off the evil Adkins bros. I did find those episodes awhile back but can't remember what I found them under. Let me get back to you when/if I do find them if you haven't already.(you posted this 4 months ago)
Thank you! Ah, the lost art of Quicksand scenes on TV and Movies... Even "Wipeout" lost me as the mud went from thick the first year to just dirty water this summer. Sigh.
That is so very well said brilliantly, shuthekat my man... in fact, this whole entire scene deserves a TON of praise indeed, no less!!! ;)
And look, whether a quicksand or a soap opera fan, there is just an absolute lot for you to love about this... just see it, and you will believe that THIS is how it is to be made on TV and in film indeed, I gotta say for plain sure!!!
And for anyone new to seeing deep/mud quicksand scenes in the mainstream media, AWESOME place to start for you!!! ^^
Few extra words about this most outstanding scene involving quicksand indeed, abcsoaptv: when Sarah first begins to sink, the camera shifts focus a brief into the close-up sight of her feet and legs as she struggles to get out (only to end up sinking deeper and deeper, of course!)... and those shots are what made this scene REALLY come alive grandly, I must say!!!!
Congratulations to you truly for putting this one up... this brings back such spectacular memories for me personally!!! ^_~=b !!
In fact, part of the sheer delight of any quicksand scene in a soap opera is that you gotta some brilliantly clever suspense and some VERY good dialogue with a smart cutting-edge on both... and this 1990 one here does all of that so masterfully well and then some!!!
An UTTER masterpiece indeed that soap opera writers today had better learn from -- especially on making the quicksand so highly viscous and NOT watery at all, too!!
yeah that's what I always liked about OLTL, they had such fun storylines. We didn't have to sit through the boring shit that we do now(on basically every stinkin' single soap that Hasn't yet been cancelled, only 7 remain, scary if you think about it, we used to get to be more choosy) Oh well, I guess the magic only holds for so long. No one knows how to write anymore. What do you come up with after a genre that's lasted more than 50/60 years. and yes Asa was more fun to watch more than the youmg
When it comes to quicksand scenes, this is TOTALLY the rather damn best one that has ever been aired for a soap opera, especially when it was first shown back in 1990 -- yep, I found that out when I seen it way back then!!! ;)
The woman Sarah was quite convincing in there, and the miry morass was so wonderfully thick and deep, especially since it was actually made with tons of oatmeal in preparation for that scene indeed... that *really* got us all talking, including me as well!!! (^-^)v !!
sad, that both Gordon Girls are gone.

Fantastic!
Now I'd like to find the GH episode where Jagger sinks in quicksand. I remember that I just missed that scene, and have never caught it again.

Kudos to whoever found this long lost scene. This as good as it gets for quicksand scenes.

Proof once again that today's current writers know nothing about writing suspense, Malone didn't either.

OLTL needs more suspense. And I am not talking Cole and Starr. Gags.
I was 14 when these episodes aired and even then I enjoyed the storylines about the 30, 40, and 50 year olds.
Such a shame that these network execs have become the true executive producers.
OLTL did suspense better than any soap. period.
It wasn't Shakespeare, but it was fun. Damn fun.
