Petroleum coke is a solid residue remaining from refinement of oil. The type that would be used in a cement plant is the least pure, containing minerals which would prevent it from being used to make anodes or other products. Unlike coal, it burns with little visible smoke.
The last 2 or so miles has always been only for the cement plant, but it was connected to an interurban line that went from Mayfield (Palo Alto) to Los Gatos.
@hoorider13 Mondays wednsdays and fridays at around 4pm are the times that I usually saw them back when I lived in cupertino. I used to ditch school to go hang out near the pond behind the 7/11.
Huge amount of power for a local. They should be using those GP15-1's, GP38-2, and those SW1500's
