Whitney was here in Australia recently a lot of people were very dissapointed and walked out of her concerts. I have to say she did a very good job on Dionne's classics though her voice was faltering then. She managed to keep it going regardless and that's what a true performer does. She had her highs vocally still going on but sadly her voice is a mangled mess today. So young and her vocal chords are burned out. I totally agree with you... One of the best decisions Burt and Hal made all those years ago was getting Dionne to show-case their songs: A woman with a unique voice... with a degree of simplicity about it to convey the message of their songs. I believe ad.lib. is generally incompatible with B.Bacherach's songs. Whitney should should have stayed well clear of her cousin Dionne's territory...(I still loved the medley despite her obvious 'voice problems' during this performance. Thanks for sharing!
