this season is all about summing up. season seven was a massive let down because of the writer strike which saw the production of only 8 episodes the last 2 went off on a tangent and did not follow the story line. of corse this season is going to be a bit more mature since they want to sum up on a note that will leave the viewers content. besides seson 8 is more for the fans of the show rather than newcomers to it. hence they end it with jd and elliot finally being mature enough to stay together

Elliot is still crazy, she goes off on her crazy tangents, but you have to know that they are more mature, and it shows by how their characters have developed over the years. They're all over 30 now in the story, it wouldn't be right if they were still acting like 25 year olds (or in Dr. Cox's case, he doesn't have time being chief o' medicine)...it's called character development like I mentioned. and btw, i find this season to be even more hilarious than the first 5 seasons
