My question is why is it when people are taking a video of any particualr subject they seem unable to keep the object of their film in the picture but instead move to other stuff all the time. So many times in this when they go to sweep the hopper the camera view leaves the truck.

One time i was soooooo full that i couldn't even fit one more bag in. I had one more stop so i did something really smart and kinda stupid depending on the way you look at it. So i put the last 10 or so trash bags in the other side of the cab from that stop LOL. Thank god no one saw me taking them out when i was at the transfer station. But hey it worked haha.

Thats also where an msl would really come in handy because when your full in an msl you still can fit a little more in the hopper, then close the door and your on your way to the dump.

Where i'm from recycling is way more common now, recycling trucks are always the last ones on the roads. The garbage men just fly by us because most people have tiny little bags of garbage compared to big bins of recycling. I have to pack the shit out of my truck.

I think people like it or hate it, it's not like other jobs where the goal is to work until a certain time, we have a goal in sight and strive for it, we stop when we want and where we want, there is no buzzer or bell telling me I can eat,smoke, or that's it's okay for me to take a shit now. Every week is different, good fresh air, some excercise, and some sunrises.

You are quite correct, the truck body is full and now all compaction takes place in the tailgate. Not good for the truck and time consuming, but beats having to drive back many miles later to pick up a few stragglers. The packer controls are mostly automatic, but to do what these guys are doing requires some manual operation and finesse. Thus only experienced operators can usually do it.
