I just want to say that most often fear should not be given into. Don't be afraid of words. Don't try to make other stop saying something just because you don't like it. Nobody here is an all-powerful God, so stop trying to make others bend to what you personally think is acceptable. See this for what it IS, not the Ideas you think about it. Heckling is fun. I love to heckle. I thought others may enjoy a good heckle, but apparently, only small minds like Devo. Small, scared little minds.

Dude, first off this song and video was so original when it first came out. I don't think everybody heard a song like this one in the radio, which makes it unique.
You seem to be criticizing the video, but look at it as Video Art, they were truly ahead of their time. Unlike your video which is poignant, "Whip it" is more subjective and creative.
I think this is song is about... when something kicks your ass, then "whip it" beat that problem up. LOL

I love this song and MANY MANY other DEVO tunes. That's why the video was already on my hard drive. I'm not "making fun" of it at all. I was actually just watching the video and recording my stream of thoughts as they were happening.
In a nut shell, I agree with you. DEVo was WAY ahead of their time!!! Hell, their time is probably like 2050 or something like that...
