this movie is baically perfect, it has its humor, has decnt pacing and drama, shit your pants horror, and a nice ending, what more culd you ask for in a movie, especially one as old as this
i remember watching this at the cinema when i was around six years old, the next two nights i couldn't sleep because i was shitting myself waiting on the banshee knocking on the door or the window, but still good memories
I believe this must be the movie that is parodied by "Annoying Orange - Luck o' the Irish" in the episode where he meets the leprechaun, argueing over a pot of gold, too.
This is the overdubbed version. The original dialog is much more "Irish" sounding.
"Several of the original Irish actors' accents were deemed too difficult for American audiences to understand and were consequently overdubbed with easier-to-understand voices, possibly from different voice actors. The original soundtrack also contains some dialogue in Irish which was subsequently changed in the overdubbed version to English alternatives." - wikipedia
the banshee was a source of the majority of my nightmares. I distinctly remember having a dream when I was about 6 were I was playing outside and the banshee came and grabbed me and flew me away, and that was the only time I have ever woken up screaming. But now that I am older I have made it a tradition to watch this movie every st patricks day. I must say though that the banshee is very scary.
Wow, I actually remembered some of the song the Leprechaun King sang, and I watched this when I was a little kid. Glad I could find it again. A big 'ol rush of nostalgia is pretty nice.
@Twilightfey your right he is scotish of course, but his father emmigrated to scotland from wexford, so in a kinda weird way he's returning to his ancesteral home in this film..
i loved this movie until the banshee or whatever when hes warding it off with a lamp. I cried and had nightmares for ages. I watched it again and it still freaked me out from memories. I saw the whole thing and really liked it though
I've never heard the dubbed version before, it's weirding me out! Does anyone know which version the DVD Disney released recently is? Great movie, in any case.
My dad used to watch this with my brother & I!! We owned it and only got it out during certain times of the year. Or we'd watch it on disney- when it was on.
@charlottesharpable Oh my god! I knew Mr and Mrs Sharpe when i was wee! Do you have red hair? I think we might have even played together when we were wee kids, my names Niamh!
Man, leprechaun's are dicks.

I own the DVD...for some reason the behind the scene stuff that shows clips uses the voiceovers, but the actual movie uses the original voices.
