Dear xscream513,

as you may have heard already from other users, the focus problem with GoPro is a known issue and caused by the unsuitable shape of the lens. GoPro has answered to this issue in their website (ref. faq). They will prepare a suaitable dome port lens and hopefully everything will be in focus, then. Until then stay calm with this problem; nothing you can do...

in other videos people sayd, that the videos are a bit unsharp, how was your experience with that?

@kamikatze07 Hi! As you can see in my video, it's not as sharp as outside. Under water, video is quiet blur. At the end, you can see the difference when I come outside.

@kamikatze07 Its because for it to work as well as it can, you need lots of light, and underwater, there is less light.

just wantet to know how the gopro works with a curved lens itself AND the curved lens on the housing, becaus the underwater videos usually are blurry, no matter how much light there is

@kamikatze07 Because the water has tiny particles in it that blur the image. That's why underwater shots of (clean) pools usually look better.

I do see some of the contrast/ clarity issues, but as a 20 yr old with 3 dives under my belt and a Go Pro on its way, I will be happy with any device that can capture the dives I hope to go on in scuba throughout the next few years. Its a sport I am falling in love with and to be able to at least show friends and family what its all about would be awesome! Great Vid!

thanks for the video. i too am a fellow diver and go pro user and have had focus issues too with my go pro wide when under water and was thinking about getting the HD but seeing as it has the same issues i might just hang onto what i got but i am well impress with the quality when its topside. awesome video and thanks again for it.

Hi, thanks for sending this video, I have the same problem, I asked gopro and received this answer:

Unfortunately, due to the curved lens of the waterproof housing for the HD HERO camera and standard def Wide HERO cameras, you do get a slight loss of sharpness/focus to underwater images. In video mode with the standard def camera this hasn't been very noticeable due to the lower resolution. With the HD HERO camera this becomes more evident at the higher resolution.

Our developers are looking into whether we can possibly offer a different housing or housing lens in the future to correct this issue.

so there is no easy solution, I thought of changing the curved lens for flat glass but I don't know where to buy it. another solution is buying another waterproof housing to put the gopro in
