this video (like most of michael moore's work) lacks a lot of factual umm... truth. First off to call the United States the perpetrator in the revolutionary war is silly. and to say that white people were afraid of doing work so they got slaves to do their work for them is untrue because the vast majority of slave owners worked along side their slaves. and at no point in this countries history did blacks outnumber whites.

Because the slave masters weren't just buying and selling slaves back then. They forced a lot of slave women back then to make babies(even the masters were sperm donors) so that they would have more workers on the plantation and in the fields for years to come. As the slaves got older, they either died or were sold and their offspring took over.

I really liked the way Michael Moore did Bowling for Columbine, up to this point. To my knowledge the NRA and the KKK have nothing to do with each other. But please, give me some evidence.
@CoolToobmovie The NRA was formed the year the KKK was banned... Both promoting a similar ideology in terms of gun control (guns are good, defence, 'freedom', etc..). And both appeal largley to the same gorup in society. People from the southern states where slavery was common practise (stopped as you know only after a war), and racism remained a huge issue even towards the end of the 20th centary whilst the rest of the western world had gotten smarter.

Actually, up to about 75% or slaves brought to the colonies were slaves in Africa. And the British actually brought them here. In the Constitution (a document seldom read in the US), there's a clause that heavily taxed any additional slaves and outlawed importing them altogether in 1808. Article 1, Sect 9.

Why does he always pull out the worst of the American people and our darkest times, but never show many of the great things that have happened in America. We went from slavery to a black president. That's some pretty good progress.

this video (like most of michael moore's work) lacks a lot of factual umm... truth. First off to call the United States the perpetrator in the revolutionary war is silly. and to say that white people were afraid of doing work so they got slaves to do their work for them is untrue because the vast majority of slave owners worked along side their slaves. and at no point in this countries history did blacks outnumber whites.

Because the slave masters weren't just buying and selling slaves back then. They forced a lot of slave women back then to make babies(even the masters were sperm donors) so that they would have more workers on the plantation and in the fields for years to come. As the slaves got older, they either died or were sold and their offspring took over.

And both appeal largley to the same gorup in society. People from the southern states where slavery was common practise (stopped as you know only after a war), and racism remained a huge issue even towards the end of the 20th centary whilst the rest of the western world had gotten smarter.

Actually, up to about 75% or slaves brought to the colonies were slaves in Africa. And the British actually brought them here. In the Constitution (a document seldom read in the US), there's a clause that heavily taxed any additional slaves and outlawed importing them altogether in 1808. Article 1, Sect 9.

Regardless of how far away they are, not in the sense of actual personal safety, but in the idea that someone may say that. Of course I'm still talking to you, I enjoy political discussions, even if they are across the internet, and even if they aren't really able to convey everything in the same way a normal discussion is.

@BeirutPapa really serious violations made by the US that haven't been about democracy, or freedom, but they have been responsible for many wars, removing democratically elected people. And in those wars and economic expansion millions of people have been killed, and the media have always slanted the story, Moore's video is beyond childish, but it has a simple truth that a lot of US history is not a all as rosy as people may really wish to think, and those who control the media don't report it.

It's a pretty harmless way to make money. I agree with you in general that it's better off screaming into a vacuum, but to be fair, I've just told you that Moore does have many points on huge corruption and contradictions of the US, and also to look at a video, I'm not going on some wild blogging rant so that's a little harsh.

about who can and cant have guns. There are legitimate debates on both sides of the table here. Believe it or not there were many supporters for black freedom from the white community ( something not often stated also there is the black power movement which is just the same as the kkk although its called the black panthers let us not forget racism is on BOTH sides of the fence). After the war between the north and the south due to an attack on their own fort. Yes the African Americans did revolt however it was quickly put down by the southern Americans quickly. The KKK and the NRA actually have nothing to do with eachother. I will agree that the KKK is a really racist group of individuals which commit crimes against humanity as a whole. The settlers grabbed land when they got there so they could grow what they needed and supply themselves thus taking away from the native american's land which you can deny it all you want but they also believed in ownership of land.
